I read that article. It later says that whoever loses Cortaca will "likely be out of the playoffs." I wish I was that optimistic about IC's chances....

OK Guys,

Are you the best quarterback because your team wins?

Are you the best quarterback because you fullfill the all around duties, that is  - some ability to run, scramble, have a good completion percentage, few interceptions, not get sacked, read blitzes etc ?

saxon73....I have to agree....the QB "runs" the offense......schemes make it difficult to compare....and SC is obviously NOT a typical offense....while their system gives everybody "fits" every year.....this young man has done a pretty extraordinary job this year.....

Norwich is so "toasted" this week....

Wish I could see the AU-SJF contest on a tape delay........I think the Cardinals and Union might be poised to do some damage in the East, but AU may shoot a hole in that......

        Cortaca in three more days......Coooortland......

max......I agree....to coin a phrase...this has to be a "monkey stomp" over a very good, highly ranked team......that shows that we would be the strongest addition as a two loss squad.....

Okay, I think I found the data that took away my giddiness from Alfred's win on Saterday.  Check out the sobering Points For and Against for Alfred and Fisher:
                       PF  PA
St. John Fisher 367 111
Alfred             244 137

I had been of the opinion that the four top E8 teams were equal and it would come down to execution, but I'm kinda thinking the Saxons are gonna have to play their best game AND get the breaks.  Here's to hoping that Keeley reserves particular venom for Fisher!
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

The Truth 00

what's the weather forecast for this weekend in cortland? will it play a role in the outcome of the game? i'm neither an ithaca or cortland fan but i am an e8 fan and i hope to hell cortland receives a "monkey stomp" this weekend. being a new poster, i'm staying out of the fracas over there on the cortaca board. who's the favorite? i'd have to think IC has to be hungry after the alfred loss last week.

Saxon73

KaZoo,

That was sort of my point yesterday.  When Fisher offense is on the field scoring so much , the offense of the other team can't score.  Inadvertantly the Fisher defense looks better than it might be.  The question I kinda posed was that if the AU defense performs up to a certain level of quality, how does the AU offense compare with the Fisher defense.  More or less, if you limit Fisher's time of possession you have more opportunity to score.  So, the game might hinge on the AU offense v Fisher defense.

Truth...welcome to the boards.....

Cortland is an 18 point favorite.....Defense is anchored by All American lineman Haas and everybody at IC knows who Stef Sair is..they are for real...

"reverse psychology"....

....well, it worked for the Alfred guys last week....c'mon guys....cut it out...not another "swirlie" NO .....stop.......blub...blub...hey......blub....bblubbbbbbbbbb

kazoo,,,I think turnovers....as always..will play a huge role......SC-Fisher as an example....

If Robinson gets 25 carries........OUCH for you guys.....

18 points?!?!  no chance they cover that spread. i think IC needs to let juvan open it up to win, let him make some plays. i know he's young but he is gonna be a special player in the long run. maybe saturday (excuse me: saterday) his legacy officially starts.

i really don't understand vosbergh sometimes. robinson needs the ball at least 25 times a game. we shouldn't have to question this every week (unless they are crushing someone). he is the kind of back that gets stronger as the game goes on. their explosiveness on offense is unquestionable but i think they get off track sometimes trying to divy up touches for both him and reile.

gobombers

Surprisingly......Bombers still in the Top 10 in the Regional Rankings:

East
No. Name In-Region Overall
1.  Wilkes  9-0 9-0
2.  Springfield 8-1  8-1
3.  St. John Fisher 8-1  8-1
4.  Union (New York) 7-1  7-1
5.  Hobart 7-1  7-1
6.  Rowan  5-1  6-2
7.  Cortland State  7-1  8-1
8.  Alfred  7-2  7-2
9.  Curry  10-0  10-0
10.  Ithaca  6-2  7-2

gobombers

I know I am grasping at straws..................but what if the Bombers win big, and Hobart/Alfred both lose?

Would that put the Bombers in line for a possible 8 seed?  Maybe a 7?

UofR isn't even on the radar (I would guess they would be coming in at 11?)

Should Hobart (2 losses), Alfred with (3 losses), or Cortland with (2 losses), make the playoffs instead of Ithaca?  If you say not really, that's 3 teams out of the Top 10.  IC could move up to that 7 or 8 seed.

Is 2006 going to wind up like 2004?  Where we are that team that loses out on the playoffs just barely?

Will that win over Huntingdon in the 1st week possibly save the Bombers because of their 1-0 out of region record keeps the South team out of the East?

Just throwing these scenarios out for discussion.

gobombers.....I'm with you.....after the last couple of weeks......

That's why they play the games.....I don't think either offense will put up big numbers on Saturday though unless somebody really loses the turnover battle big time.....

Defense needs a couple of "take-aways".......and a score.......

   cstate.............ceeeeeeeeeestate...............cceeeeeestate........
It also sounds like a team will be coming in from the South with just one loss though......that's a crime given the way the eastern teams have beaten up on each other this year....

These rankings aren't necessarily seeds.  Especially since there are only so many Pool C bids once Pool A get allocated to their respective league champs.

Unfortunately, TGP thinks that the loss at Alfred killed the NCAA hopes for IC.  B/C in the scenario above the only thing a 3 loss Alfred team does is lower the QoW for IC and potentially give UofR the Pool C that you guys were hoping for since their only losses would have been to Union (the LL champ) and SJF (who will likely take 1 of the 7 Pool C bids and who also beat IC).

Saxon73

Not that I understand all these scenarios but, Huntingdon hasn't had a particularly good seaso - similar to Alfred's first game win v then ranked Thiel
