seriously though, WHY do we have to debate whether or not he is going to get the ball that much, especially with kramer coming back after an injury???

B/c Vosburgh has sanctioned the splitting of time between Robinson & Reile. Evidently nobody on the coaching staff was creative enough to get Reile on the field at the same time as Robinson so that's how it ended up.

That would be playing to AU's strength (not that running the ball isn't Fishers strength either), but i think AU plays with a philosophy of stop the run first and let some of their athletes in the secondary make plays in long down territory.  Personal opinion.

Tags- It's about time for you to step up and take some credit for the early development of Robby as a football player from the old backyard days when he was just "the plug" Hope to see ya Sat.

OK Guys,

Since I probably won't be posting much more before the game at Merrill Field, let's look at the game in a less complicated way.  That is, leaving out a lot of numbers and individuals that might cloud the issue.

Basically, Fisher and Spfl'd are offensive teams.  Alfred and Ithaca are basically defensive teams.

Spfl'd won the battle of the offenses, Alfred won the battle of the defenses.

Ithaca's defense beat SC offense.  Alfred's defense played SC pretty good.
Fisher's defense v SC was not quite so good.

This would suggest to me that the good Fisher offense v the good AU defense might be a pretty good matchup.

Therefore, the game could come down to the matchup of the Alfred offense and the Fisher defense.

Yes, this is a simplified generalization but, eliminates alot of confusing and sometimes conflicting, misleading statistics.

Food for thought........

Sax73,
You are made to be in the tv booth alongside Al Michaels.

If Au doesnt score any points Al, they arent going to win this game....

If AU doesnt stop Fisher on this drive they are going to give up points...

Just kidding---I do see your point.  Should be a great game....

Saxon73

Fish91,

I AM really excited about SatUrday.  You're right it should be a great game.  May the players play their best, no one get hurt and the zebras call a fair game.

Almost Best Wishes  :)

Pumpkin,

You must have missed a few posts. I meant Saturday.

These views do not necessarily represent the views of the board. Saterday forever!

(I doubt Nick Gatto's mother cries every time someone uses an "E" on this board.)

AUPepBand thinks the Gattos relish the fact that their boy's spelling gaffes (check the spelling on that, would you please?) trump Webster in the minds of E8 posters. After all, anyone who sends their son/daughter to a college in the backwoods of Allegany County for $30,000 a year must have at least an inkling of a sense of humor.

Long Live Saterday!         Long Live King Al!

ON SAXON WARRIORS!!!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

FA91:
If you graduated from Fisher in '91, you played on "omniturf" on Merrill Field, installed in summer 1988, I believe. Carpet was replaced, first, with Astro-Turf 5, replaced a second time with Astro-Turf 12. If losing hair on your right leg was the extent of your battle scars, AUPepBand would say you made out okay. AUPepBand has experienced similar battle scars in life, albeit losing hair on his head.

The Truth 00

i don't see the AU vs SJF game being a shootout or a blowout. it will be close up in the friendly confines of merrill field and i'd have to say the zebras will be to the advantage of the saxons. wow, only 1 more day until i make some predictions.

fisheralum91

AUpep,
Played my first game there in the fall of 87.
Omniturf, astroturf, whatever- it was like the grass in the backyard of the brady bunch.
And no- the hair loss was the lesser of the injurries incurred there.- though i wish i could transplant some of the hair lost to the top of my head!

Refs an advantage for AU?  Explain?

fisheralum91

yeah- whats that all about?

The Truth 00

call me crazy but i'm a believer in those boondock teams getting the advantage with the refs.....although in this case, its 2 western new york teams so that might not make a difference and you may think i'm an idiot but i'll give you guys an example.  lets go back 2 years to 2004 (fisher fans, this is gonna hurt) fisher vs norwich in the backwoods of vermont. anyone who's ever been there knows that might be an understatement. anyways, with 1 minute left, fisher gets picked (i'll complain about this in the next paragraph). well norwich gets the ball at their own 30, converts a 4th down, then has one last play up their sleeve from the 50 yard line. hail mary down the right sideline to pierre garcon, who catches it at the 3 yard line and his forward progress stops him at the 2 - 1 1/2 yardline....well more than 3 feet from the endzone.  touchdown! fisher loses on a BOGUS call. i've played games up there have never seen one good crew.

you guys feeling me a little on this??  anyways, fisher should have never thrown the ball in the first place in that situation. norwich had no timeouts and the fisher qb got put in a bad situation on 3rd to throw, when they could have run the ball, ate clock, set up the punt and pinned norwich into their own territory with a 80 yards to go and 30 seconds....and no timeouts! ok, that was 2 years ago and could be considered a coaching blunder but whatever.

forloveofthegame

Does anyone know if Fisher has healed up at all on defense over the bye week? If Stepnick and Norton are back in the secondary I think Keeley will find it a little more difficult to throw. Especially considering Stepnick's knack for making a big play when needed.
