I think I've come across an interesting corollary for the Alfred-Fisher game: Rutgers-Louisville.

Both road teams are favored, the home teams have not been traditionally great but have improved the past few seasons, and there is a chance that the home team could do something special with a win.

So, I never thought I'd say this, but since it could be a good sign for the Saxons (and my grandmother taught Schiano in first grade), "Red Team, Upstream!"

There's hope for the Saxons yet!

Hoorah, hoorah, Rutgers rah!

realistic

what an ending that was.....huge rutgers comeback, the field goal to tie, then the winner after the penalty....good stuff.

And did you see the RU kicker making the tackle on the KO return?

Good call, Kaz00....and in dramatic fashion, no less. Call it a "corollary coronary"!

Plus if Alfred wins they could still get left out of the tournament and if Rutgers wins out they could still be left out of the BCS Championship.  So really, Rutgers has as much at stake for Alfred to win and get selected as Alfred had in Rutgers winning last night.  The covariance between Alfred and Rutgers is sky high!!!

If you have any pull with the IT department, have them fix up the athletics website, it's really bad.

The entire site could probably go for a complete makeover actually.

Couldn't agree with you more regarding AU's athletics website. Any pull that AUPepBand has on this campus is based on relationship. Unfortunately, AUPepBand is not exactly sure where the responsibility lies at this point, but will be happy to look into it. Certainly a vibrant, up-to-date athletics website could be useful as a recruiting tool as well. Suffice it to say your post no doubt will be read by AU's athletic director. That could be a good start.

Did you notice the Scarlet Knight is donned in gear that could be AU's old Saxon Warrior armor spray-painted red?

AUPB,
Look toward some of your fellow displaced Herrick colleagues for this.  I believe that a relative of yours (third cousin twice removed perhaps) who grew up on Randolph Rd just west of his grandfather's farm (your uncle?) is now doing some web development out of Alumni Hall.

Kaz00, Tags,

I think the reason the AU site is behind the others is because AU doesn't have a full time SID.  My memory is that the SID splits time between Sports and general AU PR.  He does a really good job considering the demands on his time.

I think the only othe E8 school that is similar would be Elmira, who has one full timer and one part timer in the SID office.  The part-time assistant is also the bowling coach, or the cheerleading coach, or something.

Elmira Sports Info is the bane of my existence.

Joseqviper:

You're absolutely correct. Was thinking there's a person in his department that actually does all the web maintenance...he certainly has a full plate. He does a remarkable job given his office is not located in McLane Center and his job does not fall under the authority of the Athletic Dept.

Kaz00:
AUPepBand will talk with second cousin who's a new hire in IT. Not sure whether his work involves actual web maintenance. Thinking here is the home-schooled kid who's a self-taught computer whiz (with some tutoring from an Iranian uncle and classes at Alfred State) who married at 19, bought the grandparents' house and landed a nice-paying job as network systems administrator at AU sans baccalaureate degree actually oversees functioning of all the systems. But I'll ask. AUPepBand, a technological ignoramus, refuses to be intimidated by a 19-year-old second cousin computer geek.

It could just generate some excitement for the program as it looks towards building the future was my point. I'm not sure about the SID position... I've got a friend at George Washington University who can fill it full time if they need one  8)

At any rate, a site like Ithaca's would be ideal, or even Fisher's is a decent site.

Not sure about some of the others.

I'm just not sure where all the allegations of Alfred being a backwoods, anomalous town come from...

Not to sound too harsh Kaz, but I believe because it is.

...or even Fisher's is a decent site.

With the small exception of the polls on the front page of the site and their propensity to change when discovered.
