Ithaca's first consecutive regular season losses since 2000.

Ithaca's first non-Empire 8 championship...... ever.

Ithaca's 37th straight winning season, second in all of college football.

Mighty impressive Max.  Nothing to be ashamed of for the bombers.

Sarge your living the high life if you think that a 2 loss Alfred team would get in over a 2 loss cortland team or a 2 loss rowan team or even a 2 loss hobart team or a 2 loss UofR team  and the other thing is unless Alfred completly shuts down the fisher offense... which NO ONE HAS DONE yet and holds them under 28.  I mean look at these teams that we're looking at no one has held Fisher under 28 this year and the only teams to score over 20 is Brockport (which I still don't get but props to port for doing it) and Springfield where I think Mike Vick, Vince Young and the Broncos O-Line were playing for Springfield

I think i'm having a deja vu.  Isnt this pretty much the same scenario as last year?  Fisher was this.  Fisher was that.  Then they were held to their lowest point total all year (i cant remember the final but i know it was around 10).  Fisher couldnt block anyone on our defense and on the last drive we confused them enough that on 4 or 5 downs they let a kid named Brady demolish a young qb by not even blocking him.  If fisher's offense is so great, why were they not blocking the best defensive player in the E8?  Because they aren't THAT great.  Very good, agreed.  But Murray is no slouch.  Look for some weaknesses and holes to be exposed in the fisher blocking schemes this week.  There's a reason he was the coach of the year last year.

Sarge - you're crazy man.  Fisher is THAT great believe me.  They have an incredibly balanced football team and can beat any team in the east on any given day.  Like somebody said last year was last year.  I would calm down cause I guarantee Fisher puts up 30 + points on AU.

Wow.  30+.  haha.  I have to give you credit.  You do have balls.  I hope you're only playing devil's advocate to get something stirring here.  Either way, i'll bite.
You're delusional.  Fisher will not put up 30 points.  Won't happen.  Fisher is good, but AU has a very good chance at beating them.  Murray is too good of a defensive strategist to give up 30 barring some kind of accident that injures the entire starting defense.

so how many points did fisher score sarge

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I'm not so sure I'd want to see that again.

fisheralum91

Did the Fisher game go final?

fisheralum03

yes 41-13. Union loses to RPI 24-19

No SC and Union rematch first round at least...

No rematches first round of the playoffs correct?

They avoid Conference rematches, NOT out of conference rematches.  In 2003 they placed IC and Brockport against each other in the first round....

In that case...ouch... Union is a monster

I really believe any of the top 7 teams can beat any of the others...imo any of the teams are monsters to face, each for their own reason.

Well, we proved with the AU-SJF result that there is a God.  And the Living God has a message - Nietzsche is Dead (just like King Alfred).  Kudos to Fisher this afternoon; they truly were the better team.

My initial thoughts from the game before I go back and read all the posts:
The game came down to execution.  Fisher definitely had the better team and executed their gameplan perfectly.  I think that Alfred could have won this game if they had executed better and gotten a few breaks.  The "inadvertent whistle" on AU's first touchdown, while not game changing, definitely hurt the Saxons chances.  In addition there were a number of open Saxon receivers that just plain dropped the ball.  At peak efficiency I think Alfred could have scored 28 today.  Whether or not they could have held Fisher to 27 I don't know.  For sure this was Keely's worst game of the year and the whole team seemed to underperform compared to the last two weeks.

Good luck to Fisher and Springfield in the NCAAs.  Do the E8 proud and go deep (both in the tourney and on the field).  My only regrets are that the game didn't come down to the fourth quarter and I still won't see Alfred scroll across the ESPN ticker (aside from a hazing scandal, that is).

kudos Kaz it was a good game, but whether or not he was out on that play should not matter having first and goal on the 4 should be a TD

He wasn't even close to being out, it was an inadvertent whistle is what they told the AU coaches.  Very dissapointing, but I doubt it would have been a game changer.  Fisher came to play and executed to perfection.  They are solid all around.  I just wish that I had more faith in the referee crews than I do after these past three games.  No sour grapes, the results are what they are, but neither team's fans wants to worry about bad calls when there is so much else on the line.  Hopefully Alfred gets a home ECAC bid so I can save on gas money!
