a few thoughts and comments for the fisher fans...

this co-champ crap is absolutely ridiculous. you lost head to head against SC on your own turf. as a player, fan, coach, etc, you should know who the real champs of the empire 8 are. i know you guys are going to respond with,"we don't control the rules" or "thats the way it goes" but c'mon, get real. also, this talk about sharpe being a running back is stupid nonsense. the kid goes to the line, reads the defense, makes the calls, and audibles if he has to. he is a quarterback so get rid of that question/argument. and don't say that he's not a qb because he doesn't pass the ball. hello, the last time i checked springfield runs the option offense. if its clicking, you throw the ball no more than 4-5 times a game because the defense is committing too much to the run.

we can discuss all of these potential second round matchups and whatnot but the bottom line is you have to beat union and sc has to beat curry. i don't want to take anything away from fisher because they are a great football team. they lost to sc because they ran into a team that was clicking and couldn't be stopped that day. does it mean it would happen again?  it could and couldn't. again, fisher is very good and are even better when they pound the ball with robinson. screw the rotation stuff with reile. its not the time to satisfy everyone on the team.

with that being said, i think fisher beats union. however, this union team is very hard to predict. they have a stud running back, good qb and 2 very good wrs...and i love the matchup with the fisher d. plus, having stepnick back is a big plus. union's defense doesn't match up well with the explosive fisher offense. for god's sake, take care of union not only for the e8, but for me as well. i strongly dislike them. (i hate union)

fisheralum91

wow -- all this talk and nobody seems to think that Cstate got jobbed?

Yes but it doesn't matter now.

Those are the rules. Why don't you get real. No team but IC has ever won an Empire 8 Championship outright. Is this what makes you so mad?

Of course I am grasping at straws with the IC argument but you gotta swallow the co-champs pill. Just prove it in the playoffs, let Fisher fans think what they think.

FA91- Many people think that.

Hey Max!
I was shocked when i was watching the coverage---they even showed them in some of their highlight reels!

Oh well- Bring on Union!

That looks like a good game. I'm in Rochester, so I thought about attending, but I still can't take Growney after this year's loss.... even driving past Fisher on 490 gets me mad. If Fish ends up hosting Rowan you can bet I will try to be there.... that is the one situation in this playoff that I will be a "Cardinal Crazy".

fisheralum91

I wouldnt even recognize the old place!
Havent been there in 15+ yrs- minus a flyby in the late 90's-

Well, I will most likely be at the game on saturday, sucks for me because I  live 5 minutes from Union,

I said from the beginning that saying we were co-champs was Cr*P  I think we will beat Union,  our D is better than everyone is giving us credit for  and I'll take Robbie over almost any rb in d3 any day

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

You SC guys can't take any ribbing can you? It's laughable actually...

Someone doesn't agree that you guys are as great as you'd like us to believe and you go nuts.

How come you can't just be confident enough to not have to whine for everyone on here to think SC is the team to beat?

Congrat's Fisher, (my 1st chance to post)

The Cardinals certainly "out hit" the Saxons.  As I suggested before the weekend I thought it would come down to the AU offense v Fisher defense.

Was it due to the pass rush, pass defense and alittle bit of weather that caused the AU passing attack to be so unsuccessfull?  (All of the above is not an option).
INT's, dropped balls, passes thrown behind the receivers all occurred.

Additional intangible - momentum change due to zebra.

Regardless, the Cardinals played a fine game and showed they have the talent to go far.

Congrats again,  Saxon73 :)

Here's a "suddle" dig for ya...

If both teams make it there, SC will put up less than 30 on Fisher.

Where is all this coming from? Not all of us think this Co-Champ thing is legit. Most of the people on here know it's garbage & SC should have won outright.

First chance I've had to post since Cortaca. It was a tremendous game. Both teams played very well. HOWEVER, Ithaca got hosed in overtime. They stripped the ball while the Cortland RB was standing up, and they called him down by contact. Then a very good kick from 39 yards in the rain ends the game.

If IC had merely stuffed him at the 21, and the kicker booted it in, fine. But he should've never had the chance. That was an absolutely terrible call.

IC guy - I wasn't at the game so I have no real frame of reference here but I believe the other Bomber posters would agree that even if that was a bad call, they wouldn't use the refs for an excuse. There were 4 full qtrs for your guys to pull it out.

Sounds like Cortland just got the better of you on that day is all.

Tags- great post. I've always said that if you're saying the refs blew a game, your team didn't do what it could have to win. There are very, VERY few games where a team does all it can to win but the refs blow it. I don't know if I've ever seen one. (Tags I know you as a Red Sox 1999 ALCS fan will agree with me.) What about Juvan overthrowing everyone but Paul Bunyan in the first? What about the complete shutdown of Donovan in the second half? The refs did not blow the game for IC. IC didn't take care of business, just like they didn't against Alfred. It's a tough pill to swallow, but them's the breaks.

IC PA guy- I think if you want to post on this board, you should change your handle. Whether or not you just repeat what is happening on the field, if you are in that press box you are some sort of journalist. And a journalist should not be on here bitching about the refs, ESPECIALLY if he works for IC. This is just my opinion. You could be like JT, and be a journalist when you want to sound smart and a fan when you want to spout off, but most reasonable people don't respect that kind of hypocrisy. Again, just my opinion.
I respect your opinion, now here's mine. Yes, there were spots where IC just didn't convert. To name a few: Juvan overthrowing Heenahan on the deep ball in the 1st quarter, not shutting down Cortland before they scored their last TD, allowing some sizable plays through the air to Cortland's third (and sometime fourth) string QB. But I did NOT say that they got hosed in any other part of the game than overtime. Mistakes happen.

In regards to the name thing: I won't change it. Here's why. I consider myself an objective person. Just because I'm affiliated with an institution doesn't automatically make me a homer. Find out for yourself as I post more often on the forums. If you agree, drop the issue. If you don't, just don't read my posts. Simple as that.

Dude you came on here bitching about the refs, and you're not a homer? There's a difference between being objective and not saying ANYTHING subjective because you represent an objective post (PA guy), and you have already failed at that with your post earlier today. Go read IC's sports releases, see how many times they even mention a questionable call (hint: 0). If you really consider yourself to be a responsible member of the team that presents IC football, you'll do like the rest of us (Joseqviper, myself, john mcgraw, realistic, cazbombers) and wait til you get out of the press box before becoming a fan. Can't (publicly) be both, the posts of fan and journalist are mutually exclusive. Others can tell you what happens if you say something on here the IC Athletic department doesn't agree with and they know who you are.... you will get a world class dressing down.
Better?

"I love that no one gives SC any respect, we have beaten both of those teams mind you. There tough but we all know, but so is SC"

You guys need to relax - I think everyone on here respects SC's offense.

Want to know what I love? I love that SC posters think that their offense can post another 40+ point game vs. Fisher.

Fisher beat Ithaca, who beat you handily... The whole "we already beat them" argument is tossed out the window at this point in the year.

Ok Tags... just startin to catch up..

Question one.  If the whole "we already ebat them" argument is tossed out, then who cares if fisher beat IC who Beat SC who beat SJF...ITS TOSSED OUT.

2nd.  I'm not saying sc will put up 55 again...(that is if you make it past union) but why wouldnt springfield put up 40 again on the rug? Have the cardinals dramatically changed on defense...

3rd.  If I were Fisher and I did play SC i would be worried that old hickory is back because when I say he is a load to tackle, boy oh boy is he a load..

1- It was a play on your "we already beat you and union"

2- Yes Fisher has changed - A) They have 2 key players back. B) They've already seen your offense this year... And they've seen how Ithaca beat it down.

3- A) If I were Old Hickory, I'd be worried about losing my starting spot to the others who have been just as tough. B) He was back & didn't make much difference vs. Ithaca ... so does it really matter?
