It was a good shot... couldn't let it hang out there.

The Truth 00

giants defense looking tough tonight in the slopfest. i've never seen 2 qbs throw off their backfoot more in my life.

can we talk about ithaca not accepting the ecac bid? that could lead to some quality discussion. redtackle is on fire on the liberty league board.

No reference for that - has it been proven that they really didn't accept or is it still speculation

Punching out fellas - nice work today.

Tough day for the Cortland guys, that's too bad.

As far as the IC bid situation, I'm sure we'll get some good insight from the morning shift... No doubt Jose & Co. will have some comments on it.

The Truth 00

from the looks of it, they withdrew their name but i'm not the best source either. i don't know if they did that prior to the cortland game or not but they had to know they weren't making NCAA's. i think thats a decision that is ultimately made by the players, not the coaching staff or administration. did they not want to deal with a cortland loss and potential snub from the ecac committee so they withdrew early?  again, thats pure speculation but if i was a player, especially a senior, i'd want to play one last game and try to go out on top. yea, its not the NCAA's but still...

The Truth 00

one positive for the bombers if they aren't playing an ecac game....they hit the road recruiting before any of the east region postseason teams.

over and out men.

Deep breath....

As has been discussed a lot on many boards, Ithaca did withdraw their name from the ECAC before the Cortland game. Probably has a lot to do with wanting the Jug to be their Super Bowl, but financial reasons are also big. ECAC doesn't cover any costs, so all participating schools must put up the funds to host and/or travel. These funds, IC probably thought, could be better put towards recruiting resources with so many seniors graduating on defense.

This being said....

IC does in no way look down upon the ECACs. The football team has played in six ECAC games in the last decade alone and has NEVER turned down a bid that was offered to them (which is different than withdrawing one's name, which IC did in 2000 as well). IC even played in the ECACs the year of the one-loss snub, 2004. Every sport participates in the ECACs, and we display all the banners we've earned in our respective venues.

That's a lot, but people all over the place (CState, redtackle) seem to think that withdrawing their name makes IC "arrogant", but I think that's bull-poopy considering their history with the championships. Rowan and TCNJ have school policies against the ECACs.... that's not even close to Ithaca's attitude.

That being said, I'm disappointed they withdrew this year. I was looking forward to one more game.... maybe at UR where I could watch without driving long.

I honestly think they should call the ECAC's up an say we'll play if we get a rematch with cortland,  while it's no the same as the NCAA's for either team, it would be a lot of fun for everybody involved

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I don't know... as an IC fan a rematch in the ECACs wouldn't have quite the zing, not being the "Jug" and all. Now an NCAA rematch... that would be hot. Here's hoping for 2007....

AC @ IC

John,

Ithaca averaged 29.4 ppg on offense
    -Scored 10 against Fisher

Hartwick averaged 25.7
    -Scored 16 against Fisher

Alfred averaged 25.7
    -Scored 13 against Fisher

Mount Ida averaged 16.7
    -Scored 0 against Fisher

Springfield averaged 35.8
    -Scored 55 against Fisher

Norwich averaged 16.3 ppg
    -Scored 0 against Fisher

U of R averaged 27.8 ppg
-Scored 10 against Fisher (24 against Union)

Utica averaged 10.2 ppg (ouch)
    -Scored 0 against Fisher

Brockport averaged 18.2 ppg
    -Scored 20 against Fisher

Kings averaged 16.4 ppg
    -Scored 0 against Fisher

So total for the season Fisher opponents scored on average 22.22 points per game but Fisher's defense allowed 12.4 ppg

Union is averaging 26.7 points per game (less than Ithaca and U of R, about the same as Alfred)

Do you get what I am saying? Unless they run an option offense that Fisher has yet to encounter this year which they don't, I hightly doubt the game will be a shootout in the fashion that last year's Ithaca vs. Union game was.  Union going into the 30's and 40's and tripling Fisher's season average on D is doubtful.

Numbers don't lie my brotha

Throw out  the numbers because the game will be decided by the players on the field and not by some list of previous stats. Don't underestimate a very good Union team which has a lot to prove after losing a mistake filled game to a highly motivated RPI team on Saturday. My pick is Union by a TD.

superman57

only way union wins is if the offense is on fire, other than that I think the Fisher D is just good enough to get a few stops, while the O I think will overpower Union's d,  we have yet to see the rath of Robbie and co. this team does not want to end this season  like last season, Fisher-38-21

Not to pour any salt on the wound but Ithaca falls out of the top 25....

Didnt someone make a post saying they had been in there for x amount of years??

No title, no playoffs, 2 consecutive losses, no jug, falls out of top 25...

Tough two weeks and the E8 feels for you Ithaca..come back strong next year like always.
