It might be for the best if I didn't answer that!
(would put self at high risk for verbalabuse/insult!)

Generally, by posting on here you run the risk of verbal abuse and insult.  But, if you prove to not be a moron, then everything is ok.

nice, i like the sounds of that. let me tell you a little about moron - i just learned how to insert these quotes.  i hope it works

The Truth 00

it is definately a possiblity.

(vague answer as seen on magic 8 ball)

you mean there's only 1 other UC poster?

If you can call him a poster, he actually writes the "Around the Region" for the East. Adam Samrov, budcrew08

Does anybody else see Union as a team about the same level as Alfred or am I alone in that regard? I know their offense is clearly superior to Alfred's (even though they averaged almost identical ppg outputs grant it without their star WR for 2/3 of the season) but Alfred's defense is clearly superior to Union's.

The Truth 00

i'd say you're on point with that observation booby miles. i think union's d is not as good as alfred's and their offense is more explosive. wow, i think i sound like an echo.

I think you can safely say that the below 8 teams are the cream of the crop in the NorthEast and are all probably about the same.

Union
Hobart
Ithaca
RPI
Springfield
Cortland
Rowan
St John Fisher

I think Union's better than Alfred overall. Sure, Union's defense is suspect. However, Alfred does not have a quartet that can match the offensive output of Marotti-Arcidiacano-Angiletta-Twitchell.

Pellerito is a stud on Union's defense much like E8PP favorite Nick "Saterday" Gatto is one of Alfred's top d-men.

If they played 10 times at a neutral field, I'd say Union would win seven.

boobyhasgameyo

Come on at least give Alfred four of the ten, they've earned that much

boobyhasgameyo

Also while on the topic of Alfred me thinks Fisher was trying to make a bit of a statement game out of it, but nobody really received that statement.  They beat them by 28 whereas their only other two losses were by 14 points combined.  Plus it was a do or die situation for them so it wasn't like they didn't give it all they had.  Just saying, little bit of a statement before the playoffs maybe.....

Did anybody else get that memo? Or am I the only one that was faxed it?

Your probably right.  From what I heard Alfred had a perfect game against Ithaca last week.  Maybe Ithaca wins 7 out of 10 from those guys as well....

boobyhasgameyo

Well I think Ithaca is better than Union this year even though the record doesn't support that, so I guess if you are going to say one would win 7 out of 10 so would the other...

Buuuuuuutttttttttttt there I go again come playoff time underestimating the LL, and that didn't fare too well last year.

Fisher definitely was poised to make a statement, particularly after last year's debacle.

From my point of view, after Alfred's initial TD was called back by an inadvertent whistle that had no effect whatsoever on the play (don't think anyone heard it over the roar of the crowd) and AU offense had to take the field again, somewhat confused no doubt, and then had to settle for a field goal, AU seemed to lose intensity. Granted, they took a 10-7 lead on Newsome's TD run, but it was all Fisher after that.

The team was pumped after defeating Ithaca but after a big win and a team's sky high, it's tough staying there once the bubble's burst. Uncharacteristically, Keeley did not play well. He didn't seem as patient and poised as he's been most of the season. Like the team, however, he'll bounce back.

As far as comparing Alfred and Union, they've always played each other tough. Would say Union probably has a stronger running game but haven't seen them nor looked at stats. AU may have a stronger defense--but no standouts like Brady--more of an overall unit strength. Losing Rammacher hurts but Rochester game will be a good test for freshman Brent McGill (Marshall H.S., Rochester), who played in the Eddy Meath Classic in July.

There are nine here....you might as well add Rochester and make it the "Top Ten" List.
