ok boys----from 87-91--start the jokes now......

FA91:

you gonna make the trip this weekend?  I am workin on it...prayin that the Wif lets me go :'(

My first E8 post, please be gentle.

It seems to me Garcon has a little bit of experience against SJF. I think a repeat perfomance will suffice! My guess is that team wasn't as talented as the Raiders either.

Then Nate can just watch and enjoy the show. Or he can have his typical 7+ yards a carry for the remainder of the day. Quote Dan Patrick "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him"

I wouldn't put too much stock in the low numbers of some of the other receivers and RB's. They made the roster because of their ability to play.
Chuck Moore ran the show while at Mount and was backed up by a guy named Dan Pugh. When Moore left Pugh surpassed many of his numbers. Both won the Gagliardi.
Back up with the Raiders starts most everywhere else. See backup QB......

and you will.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I still am curious about the 4-4 defensive alignment.  I cannot imagine LB's covering WR's in the OAC.  Were there few teams that attempted to pass against that formation and be successful or were you able to get QB pressure from the front 8 which helped out your secondary?

Also curious if you've faced any teams that run the option in the E8?

My prediction for the MUC and Fisher game.......Fisher 24-MUC 21

Here's what I think......Stepnick may not be as fast as Garcon but he should be able to stay with him with some help from the safety(anyone know if Micah Norton will be in uniform?). Stepnick is a playmaker and has shown up for every big game since he's been to fisher. Besides Garcon, Kmic and Wray no other MUC player averages over two receptions a game.

With two defenders glued to Garcon that's leaves 9 others to stop Kmic and the rest of the running attack of MUC. It may sound a little crazy but Kmic and Garcon  have scored over half of the MUC td's this season. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the other RB's, maybe besides Wray, contributed with big leads when the game was already over. Think Hansen if you've watched Fisher.

Now for the gameplan......Fisher Needs to take care of the football....espeically in the first qtr. They do not need to get tricky at all....just maintain what they've been doing all year....feed Robby the ball and let Kramer pick apart the secondary when needed. MUC is outstanding in the 1st qtr scoring 226 points while only giving up 10. If fisher can win the toss and sustain a long drive and score I believe that will do wonders for their confidence....this is where I get 3 out of the 24 from....(ideal situation) Fisher will march down the field on their opening drive showing the power running attack they've had all year but the MUC defense will bend but not break......Fisher will be forced to kick a field goal of around 30 yards.(this is second best case scenario btw...best case would be a td)

Being able to score on their first possesion will show that MUC is human and just other outstanding d3 athletes and not Ohio State.

After being down 7-3 after the 1st qtr the game will go back and forth with fisher scoring a very late td to take a 24-17 lead.

Look for Robinson to have a ton of carries(30) but only around 100-120 yds. ....We need to keep MUC's offense off the field as much as possible.....I see one big run by Robby sealing the deal for Fisher.

If Kramer plays like he has all I can't see him making many mistakes.....he has done and I have total confidence he will continue to do what it is that has gotten him where he is.

If we can contain Garcon from making big plays and keep Kmic between the tackles(this is where he'll get to meet Gene Lang) I really think we should have an oppurtunity to win the game in the 4th qtr.

Lets go Fisher and best of luck MUC........both teams are in my prayers.

Nice post......

Having seen Garcon once and with no where near the supporting cast.....the key with Garcon should be simply...don't let him get behind you. SJF should give him the dink and dunk stuff, they have been tackling very well.....and who knows...maybe we get a break on a ball and steal one.

As far as Kimic goes, not having seen him play, he may be the real key to the game....that and Fisher's ability to stuff the run....contain him or whatever...

Good luck to both teams.....!!!

Syracuse, meanwhile, looks horrible tonight.  They have no offense and they are totally confused on defense.  They are getting killed on the boards.

So far Harris has been unimpressive....

Upstate  +K for the Frank Reich pic.....nice memories!

Ithaca had success throwing the ball.  Our rookie QB was 21-34 for 175 in his first road game and first game against a real opponent (had some cupcakes for breakfast this fall).  Fisher whipped our tails but, we had success throwing the ball against them.  I think IC's offensive scheme sounds pretty similar to Mount Union's with the exception that we haven't been as faithful to the run as you have.

This is a classic line, do we have some kind of reputation as being especially caustic?

This wins the award for the understatement of the century.  I know you were just being honest and have probably never heard of Norwich but, if you had any idea how hysterical this statement is....

article in the d&c but a line in that I liked

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061206/SPORTS0102/612060387/1007/SPORTS

The week leading up to the playoff game, a posting on d3.com mentioned that Springfield's offensive line wouldn't exactly be shaking in their cleats at the prospect of facing a defensive line featuring Pyszczynski.

"That was enough motivation for me," he said. "I wound up having my best week of practice of the season."

Mount Union used to run a 4-4-3 in the early 90s.  The weakside LB was more like a SS type though.

I played on the '95 team that you guys are talking about...thanks for opening up the wounds of a season gone sour.

The ineligible player was a 5th or 6th year O-Lineman (will remain nameless to protect the guilty) who had transferred from Hudson Valley.

In case anyone cares....he came to 'us' in '93 as an 'alleged' sophomore.  Apparently the entire coaching staff had been fired or had resigned from Hudson Valley from his 'Freshman' year and no one had a record or could verify his class status???  Anyway he came in, was a stud O-Lineman for 3 years.  We were 6-0 at one pt that year and ranked 4th in the East Region (back then the top 4 in each region went to the NCAA)  That was a team that was 4 years removed from a 2 Touchdown SEASON!!!

Then of course we lose to Brockport (one in the midst of 18 straight) on a last minute kick-off return by Billy Romasser and go on to lose two more to RPI and Buff State,

A year later I am in the crapper at work (after I graduated) and I am reading the sports section (Democrat and Chronicle for those who want all the details)  and I read that "SJF forfeits 6 wins" and finishes 1-9.  We got to keep our season ending win against Thiel because as I recall, the allegations were out going into our last game so we benched him

The rumor at the time was that the then Hartwick and RPI coaches collaborated in blowing us in.  They had attempted to rectruit him as well in prior years and knew of his number of playing years.  Our belief was that after we beat Hatrwick that year (for the 3rd staright year in a close game) on a game ending FG, that he just couldnt stand us anymore and stuck it to us.

NOW YOU KNOW.... THE REST OF THE STORY.....GOOD DAY!

Thanks for a clear, concise and thorough report of what must have been a painful experience for you, SJFF82. +K And also, thanks for greeting us at the Park & Ride! Hope it works out for you to go to Alliance. AUPepBand paid a visit there just prior to the season, checking out the stadium, having a brief chat with Garcon and touched base with Coach Kehres. AUPepBand will be listening online.

Seldom will AUPepBand root against the "purple," but this Saturday will be one of those rare occurences. Back in 1989, I believe, our Saxons defeated Ithaca that at the time was defending national champ. AU would like to repeat history in 2007 with a win over Fisher's national champs... Go Fisher!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
