You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

So If I'm Satan's Spawn, Tags.  Does that mean you think of yourself as being Jesus? -- you know, being my archnemisis and all.   ;)

Garcon = Jesus

Arch Rivals on the same board - what a great sub plot.

That's like saying split time between Robinson & Reile doesn't have anything to do w/ Vos. Come on Upstate the head coach knows what is being called on every play... you know that.

You do know that the headsets wernt working at that point in the game, dont you?

Also, its the OC's and RB's coach that establish playing time and carries.  Seriously Vos trusts his coaches to make the right decisions, i dont know if i can say that enough.  Its not his direct call, if he notices a drop off in production in the offense I know he'll step in and say something.  He hasnt, so its not an argument....

Upstate, I have to disagree wholeheartedly here.  The running backs coach might have an opinion and that opinion is usually what wins out.  But no head coach blindly follows those below him.  There is a reason he is the head coach and if he "suggests" someone get more time, they get more time.

I am not trashing Coach V...I actually think he is one of the better guys around the Fisher campus...I am just wondering why he gets tons of talent now as opposed to 7 years ago.

It's pretty clear why Fisher wasn't any good then and then all of a sudden had such a quick turnaround.  Facilities.  I went to Fisher on a recruiting trip in 99 and the weight room in my high school was better.  Loved the coach that recruited me (Buddy... shook your forearm?...), however there was no way I was going there.  So I chose the logical choice of an up and coming St Lawrence and quickly went 0-20 in 2 years before transferring.  Yes, 0-20.  These two schools are perfect examples of what facilities represent.

SLU's are second to none.  They are truly unreal.  I cannot overstate this.  However, they obviously aren't getting any talent because 1) no one wants to go up there 2)no one wants to lose 3) cost 4) lack of help from administration, namely registrar.

Fisher on the other hand most importantly can use the whole Bill's line on any recruit (your kidding yourself if you don't think a pie eyed high schooler doesnt love that), there location is great (several state champion high school programs and plenty of talent), and FIsher isn't as expensive as a lot of other colleges.

My point though, coaching aside, facilities and location alone will win you games because they in turn represent talent which in turn represents a greater number of wins every year.

Which is why any recruit reading this should go to Alfred.  Be there when we take down Ithaca AND Fisher in the same year.

What many do not realize, is that Vos actually had a decent start to his days at Fisher, relatively speaking of course.  Before their pathetic years from 96-02, Vos had seasons of 5-4, 5-4 and 7-3(on-field record in '95 that was later reduced to 1-9 because of an ineligible Hudson Valley transfer)  Prior to the '95 season, SJF was a preseason ranked team.  They climbed to 4 in the East at 6-0 that season.  Unfortunately, Vos came into a bad situation as his 1st season he didnt come in until August just before training camp and finished that season with around 40 players.  The very next year he brought in over 65 recruits and we shut-out Catholic (a ranked play-off team at the time) in game one, after only scoring 2 TD's in the ENTIRE SEASON the year before.  The following season, SJF opened with a win against an RPI team that was coming off a 9-1 play-off season.   Fisher had several top 10 defenses in the 92-95 era when Vosburgh started out.

So its not as if he had no success prior to the Bills coming to town as everyone thinks and states.  Clearly facilities are part of the factor, but Ithaca and Mt. Union's coaches dont exactly lack in that department either.

GO CARDINALS/VOS...YOU GUYS ARE MAKING ALOT OF US PROUD RIGHT NOW!

I'm not saying he's a bad coach.  I really have NO IDEA.  Seriously, i dont know when he came in or what happened before 99.  I do know that for a few years, Fisher was the only team that we had a chance to beat when I was at St. Lawrence (which I hope burns down).  I think its a little more than a coincidense that the program really took off with all the new renovations brought on by in large part because of the Bills.

Am I off on this assessment with the Bills/turnaround timing?  Is it true that the Bills had a large part in the renovations of the facilities, namely the field?  You never know what is true and rumor sometimes.

The Bills definately played a financial part in the facilities, however I know first hand that Vos was an integral part in pushing for the stadium long before the Bills were in the picture...for whatever its worth.  He had a 'model' of the proposed stadium in his office for years before it actually materialized.  The administration would not get on board at the time (early-mid 90's)  Actually another big factor was an alum, Russ Brandon, who went on to become a marketing guy for the Bills and he helped spur the realtionship that Fisher and Bills now have.
