You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

because d1 is now the Bowl Championship Sereis or something like that

One of the guys announcing defended the BCS by saying "You get teams that would normally not play each other".  I would suggest the same thing happens in a playoff (see D3 playoff bracket).

I'm a fan of the BCS bowls for one reason, every week counts.  This means that you wont get a team that just happens to get "hot" at playoff time that makes a run and takes a championship away from someone else.  Forgive me cuz I kinda stole this argument from "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on espn2, but they made an interesting point about the 3 major sports (football, basketball, baseball) and its champions since 2000.  The stats were amazing, but only in a few of the last 6 years with 18 champions, were the actual "champions" the team that finished the regular season with the best record.  I think the team with the best regular season record won 2-3 times in the NFL, 2 times in the NBA, and it hasn't happened in baseball.

This kinda goes with the adage that every week counts.

Well, I guess I'll still always be under the assumption that a playoff system is by far the best system

I would love a playoff system as well, but if you think of what the players could lose, it makes it much harder on them.  For instance, Ohio State's Ginn Jr. would have to endure 16-20? games.  You obviously run a higher risk of injury with every game you play, and at that level, you're losing millions of dollars.  Robinson gets hurt in the playoffs, they lose.  Ginn gets hurt, he loses millions.

Besides that, what about their academics.  That's what those guys are there for!  I mean look at a school like Miami or Florida St.  All they care about are academics.

Pep- hey, i just read your post and was about to defend AU, ha!   Things are great but I can't wait for xmas break.  I'm goin home to meet with the fam and friends.  How bout Jordan?  He's coaching bball at AA?  Thats great.  What happened to cummings, or is that old news?

Yeah, Jordan's "volunteer assistant coach" for varsity boys (weak, very young) with Jeff Butler, a Jasper-Troupsburg grad as head coach (younger than Jordan, I believe). Cummings gave it up a couple years back. Last year's coach is now coaching at Canisteo-Greenwood where he teaches, I believe. Jordan's taking a coaching class with Murphy spring semester. If he can land a teaching job at A-A, he could probably take the head coaching job and try to build a basketball program there. Would be nice to have him around, live at home (pay the old man some room and board) to get a good start on paying off student loans.

Indeed....'tis the season! AUPepBand decided the house needs a little Christmas, so 12-year-old son and Pep did some decorating tonight with more in store tomorrow. (Time to get the tree).

Any idea where one gets the "live video webcast of the semi-finals" for which there's a teaser? Couldn't find a story or link anywhere.
