I just want to compliment  the SJF football team. You played a very good game
on Saturday. I was impressed with your talent and drive. You also have a class bunch of fans. Hope to see you next year, if not 08 for sure.

hate to say it - but its sbout time--
thats crazy that you cant come out and root for a great team!
though success breeds success

Aint that the truth! Back in the early 90's when I started going to MUC games, I was disappointed with the stadium and the lack of support. Back then it was a grass field and shared with the highschoolers, so it took a beating. The scoreboard was generic looking. Parking was not plentiful. The band was very small. The fans were apathetic. Perhaps you think I expected too much, and perhaps I did. But in this area the highschools have turf. The stadiums can seat up to 20,000, and 7 to 8000 people will show up for a routine highschool football game. Football is quite revered around here, some schools have 100+ years of history.

Then MUC puts in the spread offense, they make the playoffs a couple of times...then WHAM! They win a Stagg Bowl that nobody expected them to. All of a sudden qualifying for the playoffs is not unexpected anymore. The press takes notice, and the stadium starts to fill up a little. Next thing you know winning is expected and the players respond with some great games.

With the momentum comes a stadium facelift. Parking increases. Artificial turf is installed. A new scoreboard with graphics is added. The band grows exponentially (and gets more entertaining). Student interest grows as well as community support. Even TV gets in the act, as the Raiders games are broadcast 3 or 4 times a season.

Now all the undersized overachievers that got no attention from recruiters seek out MUC and would rather pay tuition and play for LK than play at some bigger school.

My how things have changed since the 90's. And its all due to a winning tradition. You guys could be there too, if you can keep the momentum you have recently generated rolling. Have fun building your monster!

GO RAIDERS WIN # 9

Hmmmm...the only problem is the NCAA one-year sit-out mandate for transfers...You gonna break the news to him, Superman? :-)

superman57

then why did Garcon have to not sit out a year

You sure he didn't?  It's possible to gain an NCAA exemption, but usually it requires exigent circumstances -- for instance, when the Baylor basketball player shot his teammate, the NCAA granted exemptions for the team when everyone wanted to transfer...friend of mine was one of the players who was granted an exemption in that ugly scene.

is this is first year playing for MUC because he beat fisher in 04 so did he play on last years ncaa team...I don't think there is the sit out rule for d3

You might be right, Superman -- Found this in the archives:

http://www.d3football.com/features.php?feature=84

Seems to hint that he would've had to sit out if he went to Division I -- I think the rule should apply to all divisons, to be honest.
