Why wasn't windbag a candidate for E8 Poster of the year?  I can't believe it.
::)

What? he's made quite an impact!  I thought you were going to bed!

Alright, folks, listen:

I don't know why you need to keep posting back and forth that you have messages or are sending messages back and forth. This isn't a chat room, it's a mesage board. It's a waste of space and I am going to start deleting them.

If you guys don't know to check your e-mail or voice mail or text messages frequently that's your fault. The private messaging function on this board should prompt you automatically.

I'm tired of reading it. Others commented on it earlier. Let's stop.

I know I am guilty of this particular infraction tonight so I'm no better, but have been vocal against this several pages back... No need for  anyone to get defensive, let's just check the numbers at the top of the page  :)  (Edit: Or do what Pat says below)

I always get a prompt when there's a new message. How difficult is that?

Go to your profile and "Personal Message Options" to turn that on if you haven't already.

Yep, just found that...never even looked to be honest.  I actually pretty much notice when it says 1 message is new on the top as well.

Will do.

Wow, interesting evening again.

Two topics to which I would like to add my two cents:

1) IC Starting QB:  I can see both sides of this one.  We really don't know what Grastorf brings to the table.  I think we may know what Juvan brings to the table.  He is going to be better than he was this year but I wonder if he will ever be incredible.  I am hesitant to give him the edge solely based on experience after watching the debacles that rule has gotten Bobby Bowden into (See: Sexton, Wyatt).  Then again, we raved about Juvan when he was a freshman like we are raving about Grastorf.  So I am not totally sure Grastorf won't be a lot better.  However, I am cognizant of the fact that Juvan was looking amazing in camp against one of the worst defenses in IC history.  The defense Grastorf looked amazing against was much better.  In the end, I think both come into the offseason in a virtual tie.  I think the job is Juvan's to lose though as a tie goes to him via experience.

2) Upstate posted a few pages back about Fisher dropping Kings and hoping they would also drop Mount Ida.  I am not sure it is in their best interest to drop Ida.  First, your proposed new opponents are much better.  Second, our league is much better and guarantees at least two big in conference game with a third that you have to be really ready for.  Also, Ida plays teams that are even worse than they are (this still boggles my imagination) so, when you beat them your SOS is aided because they have a winning record.  Ida's record would have put Fisher over IC in the three-way tie scenario we all discussed at such great length.

Thanks for the votes and the compliments.

As for windbag...well...I think we haven't seen the last of him despite him giving the 12 of us our board...

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

nah....you were all over that one.  It's the little things Superman....

Just read the posts Truth and Sarge wrote last night about my comment that this run could possibly hurt Fisher's recruiting.  Both make good points about how winning attracts good players.  It has worked at IC for years.

My basic point was more directed at the approach the coaches need to take as oppossed to the appeal of the program generally.  I think it is tricky to recruit players to a program already full of talent because recruits want to play. (I am not so sure I agree with Sarge and Truth that good players are realistic about their ability to immediately contribute at the collegiate level.  I think most are unrealistic given the amount of high school success neccessary to play in college.  Besides, how many 18 year olds are realistic?).

I think Vosburgh recruited (and landed) many of you guys.  What is his approach?

from the athletes that I have talked to at fisher most players both basketball and football...realize that they will most likely have to play JV for the first year and if they work hard they will make the varsity

The SJU football dinner/banquet/whatever was last night.  I'm not sure how big a deal it is and don't have any reports.  Presumably they gave out team awards and such.

It's no big deal.  Get together, John says a few things, they hand out the all-conference/all-american awards and that type of thing, then the seniors all get a chance to speak.  That's the cool part.  Then, it's off to Old Country Buffet so the o-linemen can gorge themselves.
Now, Duffman, don't be dissing the OLINEMEN.  They have to keep up their strength!!  Without Oliners, there is no offense, PERIOD.  No fancy tailbacks scoring tds, QBs throwing passes and all that jazz.  OLINERS are   THE MEN   I even colored it Johnny Red.  Soon we will all be without football.  8 months until the season starts again.  Ugh,  Argh!!   The OOOOOOOs have to keep in shape!!!
Oh and by the way, you should come to the STAGG.  I sure cheered for you all when you all were there last!!  And you won a great victory!!I still have Coach Gagliardi e-mail response to my congrats saved.  Stone Station does an awesome tailgate for both teams at the Stagg.  I'll take barbecued chicken and brownies over those sticks any day. ;D ;D ;D
PS I also saved the picture of you in the WW hat.  It just looked right somehow. ;)  even if it was because you lost a bet.

Your right olinemom,  the o-linemen need to stay in shape and "round" is a shape (JK).  Being a former D-lineman (and I think Duff will agree with me) the men are on the defensive side of the ball.  As my old coach used to say the offense has two advantages on the D.  1. They know what the play is.  2. they know when the ball is going to be snapped.  SO the real men need to be on D. (otherwise the O would score on every play) ;D
Well, actually when I make my brownies for my guys here at BC, (they get 14 pans every Monday for Film day) the Dline gets them also.  I love all football players.  My brothers who played, as they say, back in the day, played when a good player played both ways.  Charles played right guard on O and Monster man (linebacker); Nick played left tackle on O and left defensive tackle; and the baby,(he would hate this, but he won't see it tee, hee) Rick played left guard and roving linebacker respectively.    When I got involved in BC football, I chose the group who got the least amount of recognition from fans and press unless something goes wrong, of course.  Then they are in the glare of all the press and everything.  But if they do their job, the Offense runs smoothly, scores lots of points, gives the Defense some time to rest between assaults on the other team's offense.  And everybody talks about the tailback, the QB, the DLine, the DBs, the sacks.  Do you see where I'm coming from?  So I give the brownies to the OLINERS and they share with the rest of the team.  But believe you me, all the guys mostly refer to me as Mom.  And I love it and them.  I hurt for them as they did themselves in this year.  It's hard to see excellent teams, Eagles, Johnnies, wildcats, Crusaders and so many more have their seasons end prematurely.  No player or fan is ready for that.  And next Sunday, we will all be without DIII football for an eternity.  Or at least it will seem like that to me!!!  I will be cheering for WW because Coach Brez is a great coach and a good man.  He didn't know me from Adam last year.  I sent him a congratulatory note and promised to come to the Stagg and cheer for the team and bring BROWNIES.  He brought me a WW hoodie.  It is a prized possession, not so much because it is from WW but because someone in the midst of so many things he had to do to get ready for a trip to the Stagg Bowl had time to do a gracious and kind thing.  That's what belonging to the DIII family means to me.  And this is really what Pat Coleman has done for DIII football with this forum.  He has allowed people from so many areas to talk about our teams, our love of football,DIII football in particular, allowed us to rib one another, to make friendships, to get together at games and tailgate.  None of this would be possible , really without d3football.com.  I don't know how I got here from where I started but MANY MANY THANKS to Pat C for his tireless work on his website.  AWESOME doesn't even come close.
Now I've got to go to school and grade some more exams. >:( >:(  Or I could just try the method I've heard about--throwing them down the stairs except:
1) I don't have any stairs
2)  I would be the one that fell down the stairs and the exams would be at the top laughing their papers off at me.
3) see #2

I enjoy reading you Kubiak and Duffman as well.  Don't you think it would be nice to have a bronze and gold in the West instead of the North, Duff?  Wear that WW hat I know you've got.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Guys - Just wanted to paste this for those who may not see it.  I think Ms. Black (feature in the Stone Station article a couple days ago) summed up D-III FB and this site pretty well.  This started as a random discussion over in the MIAC but I thought it was cool and brought it over here.
