While the balloting saw AUPepBand trailing right from the start, the Pep held his own, finishing with a solid mediocre fourth place out of five. When a nominee is not persuaded to vote for himself, does anyone expect said nominee to win? The swimsuit competition was AUPepBand's downfall, no doubt.

Perhaps....it was a very close contest, however, for the cellar. Nevertheless, AUPepBand humbled by and most grateful for the nomination.

Gosh, six more posts to a millennium. And this place is not so lively. But of couse last night, I ruled the entire East Region....had the last word on every thread.

AU does NOT have a full-time SID. The "SID" is a member of the Communications Department and, in addition to sports, writes other releases for other campus events. However, his SID responsibilities include producing media guides, recruiting brochures, game programs, etc. He does not answer, however, to the AU Athletic Department.

AUPepBand believes AU's athletic director should have a full-time "communications assistant" to work with coaches but with AU trustees ordering AU administration to get AU operating budget balanced, AU is going through budgetary cutbacks, i.e. retirees not being replaced. Cutbacks have been in support staff and administrative areas and will begin to be seen in faculty area.

AUPepBand was a candidate for present "SID" position and, initially, was asked to take SID responsibilities as part-time job to supplement AUPepBand's other job, a self-employment position. AUPepBand wanted to get in to AU (four kids without any savings for college) but the part-time would be odd hours and tuition remission was questionable.

AUPepBand is very happy working at the library, brewing coffee and putting out cookies for stressed individuals facing Final Examinations!
