In other news,  I went to the Stagg Bowl today.  I think Garcon confirmed what I warned against the week of the Fisher/MU game.  He had a broken hand the week of the Fisher game and could barely play.  Today he had a cast on under his gloves and still went for 2 td's and dominated the game.  He was by far the best offensive weapon Mount Union had.  His speed is head and shoulders above anyone else on the field at any times.

So let me get this right Sarge - he had a broken hand at the Fisher game so he couldn't really play, but a week later he was better and ok to play?

That makes no sense - try this:

Fisher had a much better secondary, and it didn't matter b/c they couldn't stop the run. UWW didn't have a very good secondary & it did matter b/c they could contain the run.

That makes more sense.

Tags- Fisher had a much weaker d-line that got run all over, leaving no need to pass.  Everyone knows that the best weapon in football at any level is a running attack that cannot be stopped.  Thats exactly what MU had versus Fisher.  There was no need to pass.  That makes more sense.

Also, I completely agree with the TO reference.  The kid is an idiot (as I mentioned proir to the Fisher game) and was couldnt wait to get to the sideline to take his helmet off and look for the camera for a little face time.

Sarge - you went from Garcon was hurt & miraculously healed in a week, to saying "oh well they didn't need to pass anyway". Although ultimately they didn't need to, MUC couldn't throw very well on Fisher due to Fisher's very good secondary and surprising pressure from the outside. Stepnick did a fantastic job on him - don't think for one second that if they felt they could expose our secondary like they did to UWW they wouldn't. Fisher played MUC tougher than UWW in my mind.

Also, on the flip side of your comment, I agree with you that Garcon is an idiot for his antics.

Delaney wrote an outstanding State of the Bombers story in today's Journal:

Interesting that Baez, Bam Bam and possibly Donovan will all be back next fall.  Not sure how that effects Justin The End Zone Magnet Kulp.

Mr. Chair- where did we leave off with the flow chart?

Great post, Chairman JoseQViper. Good read.

AUPepBand finds it interesting that, according to that article, Alfred is very much a part of the "Big Four" of the Empire 8.

The Bombers, given the competition for recruiting in Upstate NY, will be increasing their on-the-road mileage by expanding into surrounding markets.

When asked if he thought his program was getting the financial support it needed from IC's administration to keep up with the Joneses, Welch's response was intriguing.

"I don't think it's appropriate to comment," he said.

Hmmm....

I am not sure.

I think we had moved Super to Bud's deputy and possibly opened a Senate seat for Booby?

I don't make as much of Welch's response as Delaney does.  My impression of him was always that he was a pretty private person.  If he was more inclined to talk I would think it more relevant that he declined to talk.

realistic

good article...but I would be inclined to agree with Jose.

The new facility that Ithaca is building is going to rival anything in D3 and especially in the Northeast.  Delaney says it will have minimal football impact but it will have an indoor fieldhouse and a fieldturf practice field (both of which IC currently uses at Cornell) as well as better "team" weight facilities and locker rooms.

Also, in addition to what jose said about being private...Wlech also had kids go through IC and play other sports, I would be surprised if he implied that football wasn't getting their share of funds when there are so many other sports to support.

Fine...Then answer me this...

Which conference will have a better season next year from top to bottom - The E8 or the LL?  For that matter, in retrospect, which conference had a better season this year, top to bottom?  Please explain your answers in the well-thought out method we've all grown to enjoy the past few weeks.

SJF      MU
NET YARDS PASSING.............      145         51
 Completions-Attempts-Int....  12-21-0   8-14-0
 Average Per Attempt.........      6.9          3.6
 Average Per Completion......     12.1       6.4

1) Fisher didn't exactly stifle the pass offense of Mount.  They still completed 57% of their passes.  Once again, no need to pass.

2) I didnt play it off as a miraculous healing process, but now that you mention it, well, a week is a long time for any hand injury to heal.  The bones will obviously not be significantly further along, but there will be much less swelling, making it much easier to do a job that often times relies on your hands.

3)  Again, I think it had much less to do with his hands than I do with their ability to run the ball against a Indy-Colts-like run defense.

4) At least we agree that he is an idiot.

Did anyone see this?

Turns out Robert Gates has been posting on the Aggie's board for about four years. I wonder if there is anyone like that on here. Perhaps "Saxon73" is Alfred president Charles A. Edmondson!

Or perhaps not. I think, however, it's pretty obvious that Jose is not a lawyer, but someone else living in Tampa.....

realistic

do we think he is smart enough to know if his email is viewable as robertgates@dod.gov?

Tough question to ask as the majority of teams are probably about even, but Id rather rank them like this in tiers.....

tier 1

SJF----Ill leave them by themselves and give them the benefit of the doubt due to them being clearly the best team last year.

tier 2 (In no particular order, but Id put Springfield slightly above all the teams and Alfred slightly below all the teams)

Springfield
Union
RPI
Hobart
Ithaca
Alfred

tier 3
Rochester (could put them next to Alfred actually

tier 4
SLU

tier 5
Norwich
Hartwick
Utica
Merchant Marine

Jonny Utah

And thats a good article.  And I agree that its time to start recruiting NE and NJ a little harder.  They have an advantage that schools like Cortland, Buff St, Brockport and even SJF dont have.  Even Alfred has a slight disadvantage being a smaller school even farther away from Ithaca.
