Ahem,
Ya missed the Utica area..... :P

Quite a few area lads playing on the team are from the Utica area......

Sir Spiedie

Do the kids have to apply for and be admitted into the school before they know the financial aid package?     Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As an aside, do you guys think Syracuse will ever turn it around and why or why not?   If would seem to me possible. If Schiano can do it at Rutgers it could be done at Syracuse, especially with its football history. Actually, Syracuse showed some signs of life this year. I have heard the Carrier Dome turf is an impediment to recruiting. I have also heard that Syracuse has been relegated to the ranks of "Basketball School".  Finally, I have heard that football is just not a priority at Syracuse.   Comments?

Syracuse used to be nice back in the day w/ McPherson, Graves, McNabb, etc. They had a great recruiting pipeline to FL and had awesome talent at the skill positions. The bottom line is that they're not getting the recruits anymore...they're not only getting top recruits out of the southeast, but they're not even getting the best northeast talent. The emergence of Rutgers and resurgence of Pitt has cut into their local talent pool, and Louisville is hurting them too. In fact, Louisville is a prime example of what Syracuse was 15 years ago except I think Louisville will keep it going. Syracuse is a crappy city whose "best" days were decades ago....at the end of the day, who really cares about the Orange. They're lucky they play in a conference with a BCS bid.

Ouch.  Ouch..

Syracuse can turn it around, but i dont think with this coach.
Robinson was stuck with coach P's recruits.
Hasnt been able to feild his own team yet.
AD Gross has the right idea, but it will take some time to get this program back to respectability...As for Syr being a crappy city- that's just ignorance.---or sarcasm?

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Ok..now I have to weigh back in. Rochester more dumpy than Buffalo? No way...1m unemployed ex-steel workers will ensure that Buffalo is above Rochester (unemployed camera makers are classier than the coal smelters).

I live in Saratoga which is part of the "Capital District" (aka, Albany). It's probably one of the nicer parts of the state to live. Let's make this ranking a little more accurate.

Dumpiest places in NY (in descending order)

1) Olean
2) Jamestown
3) Malone
4) Watertown
5) Plattsburg/Potsdam
6) Utica/Rome
7) Binghamton
8) Endicott
9) Amsterdam
10) Geneva
11) Fredonia
8)

fisheralum91

RT-
Malone is less dumpy that Utica?

No.

I will defend the area to no end...
Sorry no takers on this end of the Utica bashing.....

superman57

no he's saying utica is less dumpy the mallone...and I don't think amsterdam even should make the list...there is not enough happening there...no colleges...just dumpiness

dude...relax, it's all in fun. I'm sure there are some nice parts of Utica (ie, New Hartford). The truth is that if you poll alot of NY'ers, they'll agree that Utica isn't one of the more desireable places in NY.

...oh, I forgot to put Mt.Morris/Dansville on the list.

fisheralum91

Given...
Though- as much as i enjoyed the Cap Dis. when i lived there- i wouldnt want to sen my kids to Shen or another school with a grad class of1000+
