they want to run the ball...and they like to get big plays...aka Chris Sharpe...so as we have seen their o is not as good
against Ithaca.

fan of d3 - sc's first 4 games are on the road against some tough competition (union, alfred, montclair, etc.)....that's not easy but 9-1 certainly isn't a stretch. super - springfield didn't have trouble up at sjf in the middle of the season...it works on other surfaces than turf but certainly is best suited for the rug. Coach delong didn't pick this offense to run because of their surface, i can assure you that...its just an offense that's hard to prepare for and creates unbalanced numbers on the field with their multitude of formations. its also pretty hard to set up a  scout team for their offense.

with that being said....i don't know who in the hell to pick for this year. its too early. i'd want to know more about the ic offensive situation and who alfred is getting back. i think sjf would be the early favorite just because of where they finished the year but then again, i'd have to see who's replacing the wildman gene lang. i definitely think sc has a chance against any team with sharpie behind the wheel but it something ever happened to him...they'd be in deep you know what.

Fisher's turf is just as fast...and part of the SC not having an issue was with the Fisher d playing badly and letting SC run all over the place

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

realistic

on the Springfield/Turf issue.  I never implied that the surface is the reason for the offense of the reason why it is good.  Simply put, it is more effective on that surface (especially a hard, old-style Astro Turf).  Springfield runs it very well...Ithaca has been one of the teams that has been able to stop it (or slow it down) consistantly over the years.  They still need 40+ to do that at Springfield.

As for the predictions....agreed, it is WAY too early to make any intelligent predictions.

fan of d3

Just based on what SC has coming back those were my predictions...Plus I see Alfred making noise, well, more noise..they're always right there. Yeah SC starts with 4 tough road games definitley but i'm not so sure they are playing Union again...Also, rumor is rowan is on the schedule.

As a former player I would definately say that Butterfield is the best home field advantage in the E8 and Norwich is second.  The IC fans are annoying and loud (no offense guys) and try to get in your head.  Plus we fisher guys don't like grass too much.  Norwich is a tough place to play as well.  The bus ride is really long.  And the fans and the cannons and stuff distract you.

does anybody know what Fisher's non-conference schedule looks like for 2007?  We have been playing King's, U of R, Mt. Ida, and Brockport for a while now.  I think a change would be fun to watch.  Mt. Union is scheduled for '08 and '09.  Maybe they can pick Hobart back up.  We beat them my junior year and then dropped them the season after.  Too bad cause its a good rivalry and a great game.

I think the non conference schedule is the same this year and then we add Mt. Union and drop kings next year

More than that...does anyone have a complete schedule for Fisher, or for any of the teams for that matter? I see some talk about SC starting with 4 tough road games. I have not had a chance to check out their webpage yet.

Is Ithaca traveling to that school in Alabama or wherever it was this year? The team they opened the season with last year. Huntingdon I think it was? That is a cool way to open the season if you ask me...a team from out of conference.

Any info is appreciated...

AUPepBand

A trip to Alabama as a season opener in early September is not a "cool" way to begin the season for a team from the North, if you ask Pep. AU opened in southern Virginia in 2005 and it was over 90 degrees in the stands at game time. Heat was even worse down on the field. Pep was under the impression the Huntingdon-IC game was a one-year contract but could be mistaken.

Sir Spiedie

Playing in the deep south in early September can be brutal if you are not used to it. And unless you live it i don't know how you can adequately prepare for it.

AUPepBand

AUPepBand along with five band members will be in attendance at the annual AU Footbal Banquet, being held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 in the McLane Center gymnasium, as the Ade Dining Hall where the banquet is normally held, is insufficient space for the anticipated crowd. Awards, highlight film, coaches picking on each other, plus chowing down with the peppers...good times!

Hey pep...how is Julio doing?..I noticed your "prayers for Julio" caption and realized that I had not heard much about him recently...

I still get an awful feeling when I think about what has happened to the poor kid..

I was thinking more along the lines of an out of region team...A test of how you are against teams that you do not see every day...You are correct, playing in Alabama in September would not be so much fun...
