Jose I'm not saying Ithaca has been irrelevant on the D3 football landscape, all I was trying to do was refute that particular statement as viable current smack talk that's all.  Obviously Ithaca has a great program, they are always in the mix come playoff time.  I love watching the two teams square off and I look forward to it again this year.  Ithaca and Fisher are both pretty decent teams in the East, agreed?

I never said that I didn't think Fisher was a good team, I just happen to think they are the current flavor of the month.  That is the point Max and MIOH are trying to make.

flavor of the month, ouch.... what makes you think Fisher is going to go away, I'm curious.  Is it because of past experiences with teams like Buff State? Because that is apples to oranges.  Fisher as everybody knows began attracting the recruits with new facilities at the time and the lure of the Bills.  Now facilities will get older and the Bills won't be there forever but in the meantime Fisher is building up a history of their own.  They won't have to hang their hats in the future on the fact that the Bills once trained there, they are winning games year in and year out, they are getting to the playoffs on a more regular basis.  They can mention making it to the final four.  They can say "hey we were a constant rated team in or near the top 25 for many consecutive years, even reaching the number 4 spot in the country.  They are adding teams like Mount Union on their schedule.  From how I see it, it doesn't seem like the system Fisher has setup is destined to faulter anytime soon.  It may appear that Fisher just came out of nowhere 2 or 3 years ago, but this has been building for years before it.  Improving records since 2000, winning records in the past 5 consecutive seasons, a financial commitment from an administration that has scores of money to toss around as they see fit, etc.  So after that rant, what is your reason for believing they are the flavor of the month as we continue to build up our program?

I don't profess to know what the future holds for Fisher, I am just saying they are currently the flavor of the month until further notice.

I am not sure what happened to those other programs that were momentarily solid but faltered.  I just know they did.

I don't think good facilities or a strong financial committment from the Administration automatically equals wins.  Elmira has awesome basketball facilities.  Some of the state schools that eat it have a good financial commitment to Athletics.

There is a mix of factors that go into sustained success and I have no idea what they are.  I just know most places don't have them.

BHGY -

Consider your audience in this debate.  IC has been having winning seasons and contending for the post-season since the 70's (if not even earlier).  SJF has 5 winning seasons since 2003 (which at 6-4 wasn't really a great season, 2004 was when they really started to get something going).  Other than maybe Rowan, and a small handful of other eastern region schools, not many other teams other than IC have a multi-decade track record of football success.

RPI, for instance, went to the Final 4 in 2003 with a great senior class and some exceptional players.  Next season they went 5-4.  A comparison to SJF's '06 team with guys like Robinson, etc could be made.  Is it the program overall or just an exceptional group of players that took them to the Final 4?  This season will tell us volumes.  TGP gives credit to SJF to taking on the MUCs of the world in the regular season.  Definitely shows a commitment to a mantra held by the late Coach Maxwell - "To be the best, you have to play (and beat) the best."

Now of course RPI is a great program, and today, like SJF, is in the running for their conf title and a NCAA berth every year.  Still, TGP wouldn't say RPI (or his alma mater for that matter) has had enough of a track record long term to put their program in the same category as an IC.  It's definitely something to strive for, and it appears SJF is attempting to take the steps to make it a possibility.  Still, a lot more time has to pass before they get there.

Re: Flavor of the month...

IC alums have a good reason to say things like that, because they are in fact consistent.  Fisher has had a good couple of years, but refer to Brockport State circa 2000-2004.  I cringe to make that point, but it's true.  Rowan is probably second in the region in consistency.  If in 2015, Fisher is still in constant contention, then I guess we will know you were right.

Life Is A Bowl of Perry's (Ice Cream)....Pep would like to nominate "Nutty Business" as "Flavor of the Month." Pep had a "Nutty Business" cone at the Big Dipper in Almond and rates it a 8.7 out of 10 .... for the peanut butter lovers out there.

Nutty Business---Elephants never forget... their favorite ice cream! Neither will you once you taste this premium peanut butter ice cream with golden caramel swirls and chocolate covered peanuts. A portion of the proceeds benefit The Buffalo Zoo's Elephant House Renovation Project and marks the 50th Birthday of Buki, one of three female Asian Elephants at the zoo.

If you like Nutty Business, wait until you taste Muddy Sneakers.

Pep just noticed that the E8's once-highly respected Chairman is suggesting in his nameplate that he, like the late President Richard Milhous Nixon, may be in need of a pardon... has a succeeding chair been identified and, if so, does said chair wish to pardon our dethroned and smitten chairman?

They are saying it could be a murder-suicide but no one really knows ... The thought of carbon monoxide was also thrown in as well. Speculation is rampant as always but hopefully not a murder-suicide....  This is just when the WWE was getting in hot water for doing a storyline where Vince Mcmahon was presumably killed.

Trouble seems to follow the WWE around.

Looks like it was a murder-suicide.... How horrible.... bad pub seems to follow the WWE around and this is just horrible all around.
