The word "insecurity" was used a few posts back, which I think really hits home the issues that crop up here from time to time.  The is obviously the best Division III football site on the internet.  That being said, its creator seems to need to trash other websites and publication at every chance possible, strip members of titles made mostly is jest, etc...

Ehh, you can draw any conclusion if you look at only a handful out of 17,000 posts. Most things of that nature just get ignored.

I should elaborate, however, since it comes up occasionally.

There's a reason why I take the time to debunk other rankings and publications -- large parts of the general Division III fandom don't know what goes into them. Who compiles the Street & Smith rankings? What does Don Hansen know specifically about Division III when the Football Gazette also tries to cover I-AA non-scholarship, II and NAIA?

Because schools and newspapers publish these rankings and their All-American (or All-of-America) teams and give them the same weight as ours or the AFCA All-Am team, people are lulled into believing they're legitimate. People who don't know better and read Street & Smith's now think Coast Guard is a Top 25 program, or that Trinity (Texas) is a top five. That just isn't the case, and I feel we have to say so.

That's why.

Heh, yeah.  So you admit that you specifically are insecure about me in a way you aren't about other posters?

BC08, take it easy.

First, it was Bobby Knight taking a pot shot at your chosen profession.

Second, it's all just a joke.

Third, I am a lawyer and happen to love lawyer jokes.  (In fact, given the offseason, that would be a good topic of conversation.  Let them fly boys.)

Fourth, this is one of the funniest sentences ever.  Nicely done on the irony.

Actually, no. I was referring to what tecmo said about trashing other sites, etc., "at every chance possible."

Funny that you think that was aimed at you. :)

Let me start by saying nothing to follow is meant to be a dig at any one inividual or occupation......

I have had a couple of disageements with Jose, but respect what he thinks and enjoy his insight.  I do not always agree with Jose, but on any number of occasions, have enjoyed that he got the ball rolling on a certain topic.  Over in the LLPP board we can beat things to death, but the attack on Jose from a few individuals seems to be going a bit overboard.

I still hate Ithaca!!

Did you play in any of those great Union-IC playoff games U89?  At least one was a region final I think  (Note to fact checkers, the words "I think" indicate that I am unsure as to whether or not that fact is, in fact, accurate.)

Pat Coleman

It isn't really my intent to keep attacking Q, no. But I think it's fair of me to try to cut through the spin presented by others, or at least defend myself against others' claims.

In the interest of humor... here's a joke for ya. From http://www.workjoke.com/projoke40.htm

A lawyer opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the lawyer was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW.

"Officer, look what they've done to my Beeeemer!!!", he whined.

"You lawyers are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!" retorted the officer, "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!"

"Oh my gaaad....", replied the lawyer, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, "Where's my Rolex???!!!!!"

Another good line on that site.
QuoteChanging lawyers is like moving to a different deck chair on the Titanic.

Wow - a little testy in here for the off-season..... +K to all for an enjoyable and safe 4th.

JQV

+k BC.  Had heard the BMW joke but not the line about the Titanic.

Heh, yeah.  Sweet double-negative.  So it is your intent to keep attacking me?  Am I spinning your sentence?

Pat Coleman

Shockingly, I think you're mistaken about the concept of the double negative. Or, more likely, you're trolling.

Was on both the '85 (13-12 loss) and '86 (24-17 OT loss) Union teams.....this is the reason for my deep seeded Ithaca hatred.... >:(

Put it to bed for crying out loud!!!   People can argue X's and O's and who's better in and out of their conferences and even regions all they want, but when it comes to the entire country, how can anyone argue that Pat and his crew are NOT spot on for the most part?  Those guys do more research and follow this stuff and have the resources to do so more than anyone on any of these message boards, not to mention other D3 publications.

And also, I've never read a D3 rule book.  I may question some things from time to time, but again, Pat and his crew's knowledge and reference of this information affects the integrity, legitmacy and success of HIS site.

You're making Ithaca sound like a bunch of stubborn meatheads, who, especially in this case, have a hard time admitting when they are wrong.  Luckily Jonny Utah saves face for the Ithaca posters and shows that there is a little bit of hope for SOME of you anyway.

Cortaca Jug

Took me forever to get through all the registration stuff. Geez. Been trying for days.

Was trying to get across the point to JoseQViper that he probably lost Pat when he accused him of being unemployed. Not many people appreciate that.

Ain't no reason to keep harping on this. Oh yeah--that's what a real double negative looks like.
