Whoever voted for Rochester should lose their vote.

Unless they like Genny Light... and that's their reasoning... and yes MIOH just quoted himself

The preseason Top 25 is posted.
http://www.d3football.com/top25.php

Lots of respect to the E8 these days... 2 teams in the top 10 and 2 others getting votes.

Looks like the Bombers will probably have to wait until 9/24 to crack the top 25

its good to see some love for the east as a whole. Three teams in the top ten, as well as 5 teams getting votes. Fisher is at 5..I think that is fair, it is a little high for where I think they will end up, but considering what they did last year, and the fact that it is a preseason ranking, I like it.

Might be tough for IC to crack the top 25 after a loss to fisher tho...

Anybody think Fisher has enough to live up to that high of a ranking?
GO FISHER!!!

Here's my reasoning for voting UR No. 25.  You're certainly free to disagree.

There has recently been a lot of parity between the top East region teams.  Setting aside the NEFC at one end of the spectrum and Rowan historically at the other, the champs of the MAC, Liberty League and Empire 8 are all pretty competitive with each other.  The very close playoff results bear that out.  So if I'm voting for a team from any of these conferences, I'm probably voting for one from each.  Not an absolute, but a rule of thumb.

If I'm voting for a Liberty League team, which one is it?  They all have question marks

RPI loses its entire offensive of line, a 1000-yard rusher and an All-American tight end.  Even with those weapons last year, they finished fourth.

Union loses a lot on offense including the quarterback, their top running back and top wide receiver.  That means the defense will have to play better than last year's 23.1 ppg against.

Hobart loses its quarterback and top running back and three offensive line starters.  Rochester returns a 1300-yard rusher, its top wide receiver but admittedly has to play better on defense where they gave up way too many points.

But all in all, these teams are pretty close.  And the results reflect that with Rochester beating RPI who beat Union who beat Hobart who beat Rochester.

According to the schedules, UR and Union have some advantage in that they host two of these three opponents.  Union's one road game of the three?  At Rochester.

It's not a perfect argument by any stretch.  You could just have easily gone with any of the others.  But I don't think it's an entirely ridiculous pick.

Of course, if UR goes 0-3 against CMU, SJF and Union to start the season, I'll be singing a different tune. But it won't be the first time I'm wrong. :)

For what it's worth Gordo - your analysis makes perfect sense to TGP.

UofR seems to return the most/have the least amt of losses to graduation of all the (contending) LL teams (with the exception of Robertson at QB for RPI, but all the losses of the OL etc definitely hurt).

TGP will be watching the CMU/Rocho game closely - especially since Hobart plays the Mellons in Week 2.

The Mellons.  Not sure why that nickname never occurred to me.

I will use that liberally.  :)

Gordon, all that work to pick your 25th team, and you're not a hall of famer? Send my regards to Art Monk. ;)
