Anybody think Fisher has enough to live up to that high of a ranking?

If they can exercise the deamons of Butterball field, then yes....

Pep thinks that demons should be exorcized. Exercising them just stirs them all up and in all likelihood, give you fits. Pep doesn't recall cowbells being used in The Exorcist.

Gordon, all that work to pick your 25th team, and you're not a hall of famer? Send my regards to Art Monk. ;)

NSRB wanted to share with you that he had dinner last night with ESPN producers in Syracuse.  Once again Syracuse is hosting the Bass Masters Memorial Tournament and Elite Series Championship this weekend.  He'll be spending all day out at his HS alma matter, who is hosting registration, with all the Bass Pros and ESPN.  NSRB hopes that all the rest of you have as good a day as he will be having today.

Is former Bomber Catcher Craig Nels competing?

http://craignels.com/

Dammit Viper, you beat me to it by... one... two... four hours? That's pretty damn late!

Didnt see Craig Nels on the list.  Only Top 50 Pros for this tournament (its one of the 3 majors)

as for Onondaga Lake... its clean... well the water is... the bottom of the lake is where the murky gunk is.  In fact, the water is cleaner than Ontario and Oneida, and probably Cayuga.  Honeywell has been working years and dumping millions into the lake clean up projects. So dont be spreadin rumors... what you've heard is long past.  over 80 speicies of fish, and some of the best fishing in the state is at Onondaga

so, after a tough day at a parade, registration, catered lunch, and hangin out with the ESPN, and the Pros, NSRB has to play a golf tournament for work tomorrow.   ... its a hard knock life.

Good gracious.

That photo reminds me how badly I need a new photo.

And a hair transplant. :)

Is Hall of Fame based on post number?

No there is actually a selection process that Pat and the other Hall of Famers go through to pick according to a similiar conversation on the LL a few months back sometime.

Guru Track?  It sounds like we are back in college with all these concentrations!  :D

Here's my reasoning for voting UR No. 25.  You're certainly free to disagree.

There has recently been a lot of parity between the top East region teams.  Setting aside the NEFC at one end of the spectrum and Rowan historically at the other, the champs of the MAC, Liberty League and Empire 8 are all pretty competitive with each other.  The very close playoff results bear that out.  So if I'm voting for a team from any of these conferences, I'm probably voting for one from each.  Not an absolute, but a rule of thumb.

If I'm voting for a Liberty League team, which one is it?  They all have question marks

RPI loses its entire offensive of line, a 1000-yard rusher and an All-American tight end.  Even with those weapons last year, they finished fourth.

Union loses a lot on offense including the quarterback, their top running back and top wide receiver.  That means the defense will have to play better than last year's 23.1 ppg against.

Hobart loses its quarterback and top running back and three offensive line starters.  Rochester returns a 1300-yard rusher, its top wide receiver but admittedly has to play better on defense where they gave up way too many points.

But all in all, these teams are pretty close.  And the results reflect that with Rochester beating RPI who beat Union who beat Hobart who beat Rochester.

According to the schedules, UR and Union have some advantage in that they host two of these three opponents.  Union's one road game of the three?  At Rochester.

It's not a perfect argument by any stretch.  You could just have easily gone with any of the others.  But I don't think it's an entirely ridiculous pick.

Of course, if UR goes 0-3 against CMU, SJF and Union to start the season, I'll be singing a different tune. But it won't be the first time I'm wrong. :)

Wow.  +K for the effort it took to write that... and think of all this stuff.  MIOH is now officially signed up the G-Man for HOF campaign.  Even though U of R may have the softest schedule in the LL... I think that will be the only vote they recieve this year.  I'm thinking they go 6-4... and maybe beat 1 of the big 3 in the LL.

Current Pre-Season standings for the E8 would be....

1) Fisher
2) Springfield
3) Ithaca
4) Alfred
5) Hartwick
6) Utica
7) Norwich

Whats great is the top 4 all have a shot to win it all or upset each other and create the mayhem that was the 2006 season all over again.  I dont know if I could take another 3 way tie for E8 championship possibility again.

Side note:  the Bills report to Ra-cha-cha today.  It was quite funny watching the athletes carrying their TV's, sleeping bags, and other items into the dorms.   Mind you their Ferrari's, Hummers, and Beemers are sitting in the student parking lots.

Gordon for Guru 2008!

Hmm, actually, it's something I should've done when I promoted Gordon to deputy managing editor this spring. So he's now elevated to D3sports.com Guru status.
