I think Baez and Donovan and Bam are going to return for the 07 year.... . not 100% positive though.

Per lumpy, Bam is back.  I heard both Baez and Donovan were definites months ago.  Not sure though.

i looked into my crystal ball and it says the bomber offense will be a RRUUUUUUNNNNIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG one.   the playbook had 2 plays other than a run in it.  the first a 80 yard hail mary to be used against Cortland and initiated on the first offensive play.   the second was a trick play that i can not release to the public.

:)

Three yards and a cloud of dust dubbz?

Would anyone be interested in doing a pick'em contest for the E8 on the pick'em boards during the season?

I hope you all are having a good summer. I was trying to hold out until August 1st before I jumped back on these boards for football season, but, alas, I couldn't wait. Well, that and a slow day at work.

Sorry for jumping in, but Baez and Donovan are coming back? For what? Didn't both graduate last season?

Sorry for interjecting, but I just don't see the debate. BG is a fine QB by all accounts. That said, unless Grasdorf blows everyone away in camp, Juvan is their guy. Above all else, it seems that Welch is extremely loyal to incumbents. Besides, Juvan did not have horrible '06 campaign in his first season at the helm. Was it as good as Felicetti's first year? Of course not, but Felicetti essentially rewrote the Ithaca record books; that's not a fair standard by which to judge Juvan. Plus, everyone knows that Ithaca has had difficulty in even-numbered years because of their schedule during those years includes road games against Fisher, Brockport, Alfred, and Cortland (Hobart in years past, too). In fact, Ithaca hasn't made the playoffs once in an even year since the turn of the century, yet has made the playoffs in every odd-numbered year since the turn. It sucks to admit, but right now Ithaca is an every-other-year team.

I think the absolute earliest we could potentially see a QB change is after the Fisher game, in the event Juvan plays poorly AND Ithaca loses. I just don't see how fine play in mop-up duty will catapult Grasdorf ahead of Juvan. Besides, isn't the implicit assumption that Ithaca will be blowing away the opponent when the backup comes in the game? I doubt Welch allow the team to air it out if they are already embarrassing an opponent. Further, given Ithaca's opponents early in the season, I just don't see where Juvan could or would lose the job.

I guess that's why this is the offseason, though. I hope the month of August flies by.

Jose, I'm going to Baton Rouge on October 6th to see your Gators play LSU. Think UF can come into Death Valley and beat LSU?

gb15... +K for the odd even fact.  nice.   but, i had the same feeling about the QB's.... the Fisher game will decide.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

GB15,

This past season... Were you at SJF in the 2nd half?  Or Cortland in the 2nd half?  Or the entire Alfred game?

MIOH agrees... he doesn't think Juvan had a horrible year by any means... but... you have to be able to beat a good team on the road... Danny hasn't done that yet.  MIOH is not sold on BG yet either... but if he's the real deal then why wait until we lose to Fisher to pull the trigger?  We could use another good WR... and former Bomber QB's seem to make pretty darn good ones (see Jeff O'Hara '05).  Air Welch could use Juvon on the end around pass that worked so well w/  Jeff Welch.

I think whoever is under center will be handing the ball off a lot this year anyways.   Everyone loves a back-up!

I'm going to state that I'm not sold with BG he comes from a school that is not known for its football and has had a hard time winning...plus his father was something like AD at the school....so I'm just not sold that he can carry on the bomber tradition....because the bombers are a lot like the yankees...in they are a very very steeped in tradition and winning... it is a big deal to play qb for the bombers... I don't know whether he can do it or not...

Any pick contest has to be placed in the separate board for that under Multi-Regional topics. We have to keep them hidden there because of prying eyes from the NCAA.

Don't know if you can make a judgment based on that... all reports from Tecmo at camp last year and also at JV seemed to be very positive, and if one person knows how to compare Bomber QBs, it's Tecmo. I didn't get to see a lot of him personally last year, but he seemed to be competent and confident. I like DJ, I think we should see what we get out of him before making the switch.
