wrigley was 45% mets fans today, half of them were wearing wright jerseys (MIOH mancrush) and they cheered louder than the cubs fans.  bad umpire calls led to louder cheering by mets fans than booing by cubs fans. Made it more depressing when Dempster lost the game.

tecmo. you got a house?? congrats!!

go bombers.

Bid to break kazoo record fails
By SAMANTHA GROSS, Associated Press Writer
Thu Aug 2, 11:53 PM ET

NEW YORK - Members of a 1980s funk and disco group hit a sour note in their attempt to break the world record for the largest kazoo ensemble, falling short of the some 2,600 impromptu musicians needed.

Organizers were hoping to sign up 3,000 impromptu players for the evening attempt in Harlem, which was led by the female vocalists of Skyy. Their 1980 song "Skyyzoo" featured the sound of kazoos being played for some gentle backup.

That backup still managed to get louder on Thursday, with more than 2,000 amateur musicians turning out for the concert.

"I don't know anything about it," said Cecilia Malone, standing among a crowd of spectators and looking at the plastic kazoo in puzzlement. "Which side do you blow on? Do you know?"

The current kazoo record was set this past New Year's Eve in Rochester, where 2,600 kazooers gathered to play shortly before midnight. Before that, The Quincy Park Band had held the record for gathering 1,791 players in Quincy, Ill., in 2004.

With some instruction from a professional kazooist — Barbara Stewart, author of "The Complete How To Kazoo" and member of the group Kazoophony — the Harlem kazooers' toneless buzzing soon transformed into lively tooting.

Stewart, who says she's leading a campaign to name the kazoo America's national instrument, declared the crowd members "proficient" players after the lesson, in accordance with Guinness World Records requirements.

With even utter amateurs able to toot one with little instruction, the kazoo has been a classic American instrument since it was invented in the 1840s. The Original American Kazoo Co., established in 1916, still produces the toy players and maintains a museum in the northwest New York community of Eden.

The Ladies of Skyy's lead singer, Denise Wilkinson, said that including the kazoo in the group's 1980 song was the whim of a producer, but ultimately the piece allowed the group to draw the audience in to participate.

"With the kazoo, anybody, if you can hum, you can play the kazoo," she said.

Budcrew:

+K for this find! When AUKaZ00 sees this, he will no doubt get on the (Pep)Bandwagon and make this happen. Perhaps Pep will pay a visit to the Original American Kazoo Company in Eden (Pep's kazoo source) to strike up a deal.

It seems AU is always on Mini-Break the weekend the Saxons play Utica. Two years ago at Merrill Field, Utica came to town and Pep was sans sufficient instruments to muster the band. So Pep invited a percussion player to join him on kazoo.... unfortunately, said percussionist could not hum in tune...apparently tone deaf, which is to say that the above bold statement should be corrected to read: "With the kazoo, anybody, if you can hum in tune, you can play the kazoo," she said.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Thanks saltseads, but you negated your sympathy with your nasty facebook message today.  Luckily the coo(u)bs also negated yesterday's loss.  The PGF game was today.  I thanked her for taking me to the game and said I'd call her soon and kissed her goodbye.

Will not let this post go without a response. That 2-2 pitch was six inches away. When I was watching it live, I literally said "what are you b******* about Dempster, you missed by half a foot?" Seriously. I got genuinely angry at him for begging on that pitch. That ball was away and the ump made the right call on it. Where is K-Zone when you need it? Wouldn't have made a difference either way.

Big rubber game tomorrow night. Let's go Tommy G! Looks like it's fashionable to be setting milestones this weekend.

Lumpy,

Do the boys report to Bomberland this friday?  Practice start next Monday?

Side Note:  Lady Dubbz finished her first Triatholon this weekend.  Talk about a madness sport!  Good goly there were 800 people doin' this thing.  All in rediculously skinny running shape.  These people were the type of people to turn down a sweet 17 so they can go for a quick 5 mile run.   Anyways, Lady Dubbz went for the 1 mile swim, 14 mile bike ride, and 5 mile run.  What was interesting was in between these the spectators really had nothing to do.  So, Dubbz sat in his Bomber chair under a shady tree waiving his Go Bombers #1 finger and drinking sweet PBR.   Yeah Triatholons!

I saw that triathlon. Was in town for a wedding and the brunch was at Taughannock Farms Inn and almost took out a State Trooper near the triathlon. You're right, everyone looked in awesome shape. In fact, I could watch the runners and bikers as I ate my second raspberry danish.

BOMBER NEWS UPDATE...

Three Coaches Added To Bomber Staffs

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Three assistant coaches have been added to the Ithaca College coaching staffs: Rob Cushman (football, baseball), Gabe Luvara (football, track & field) and Mark Ross (football, strength and conditioning). The announcement was made by Ken Kutler, Ithaca's director of intercollegiate athletics and recreational sports.

"We are pleased to have Rob Cushman, Gabe Luvara and Mark Ross join our coaching staff," Kutler said. "All three coaches bring a wealth of experience to Ithaca College and we look forward to having them work with our student-athletes."

Cushman spent five years as head football coach at Feather River College, serving as the program's first head coach and leading the team to a 34-21 record. Cushman has also served as head coach at Eastern Oregon (his 1998 team was ranked 24th in the final NAIA poll) and has collegiate coaching experience at Butte Community College and Cal State-Chico.

A graduate of Puget Sound, Cushman was a four-year letter winner helping the Loggers to a ninth-place Division II ranking as a senior. He earned a master's degree from Cal State-Chico. He will serve as junior varsity baseball coach and coach the receivers with Ithaca's football staff.

Luvara joins the Bombers after a year as an assistant football coach at Juniata, where he was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Division III Eagles. Luvara, who increased the team's offense by 108 yards per game, held the same position at Duquesne for a year and worked on the Dukes' staff for three years.

A 2001 graduate of Indiana (Pa.) where he was an all-conference center, he served as team captain and helped the team to two NCAA Division II playoff appearances. He will coach Ithaca's offensive linemen.

Ross previously served as an assistant coach with Ithaca's football program for six seasons, working with the team's linebackers and defensive lineman. Ross, who will serve as Ithaca's defensive coordinator, also spent a season as assistant women's lacrosse coach at Ithaca.

He spent four years as an assistant at East Stroudsburg, coaching the defensive ends and linebackers for the Division II Warriors. He also served as special teams coach for three seasons. A graduate of Penn State, he has also worked at Division I-AA Lafayette.

Hello E8Nation.  The (Former) Chairman is back from a week of honeymooning in Northern California.  After 7 days of food and wine I am more than ready for Football season.

Now that the coaching staff is rounded out, it seems like it is time for the boys to report to camp.

Who knows what about the Bomber freshman?

Welcome back Q!  MIOH hopes the wedding and NoCal were both enjoyable.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of knowledge about the incoming bomber class from the E8PP members.  MIOH and others are awaiting Tecmo's preview when he gets back from honeymooning.

You didn't want to stay in San Fran for Barry's record breaker?
