I love the Yanks and they are beating the snot out of teams they should be beating like rented mules.  I still am concerned when they face good teams.  Clemens has been pitching like a stiff lately, I don't trust Mussina.  Right now they only have two starters I think are reliable and that is Petite who needs better run support and Wang.  Hughes is still a question mark.  I think they can make a run and if they keep hitting like they have been they could challenge the Sox with six games left (I think).  Right now the Sox can't score and aren't hitting, but I am  sure that will change.

Yanks' series at Cleveland this weekend will be a good test. Pep will be in the stands at Jacobs for Sunday's 1:05 p.m. game.  :o

+K to pep for the I-490 comment.

MIOH enjoyes SJF's campus.

It's clearly a bright spot when you look at the rest of the Rochester area.  The only problems MIOH has w/ SJF is the strict rules about public grilling, drinking, and peeing... and of course the cowbells and lack of visiting bleachers.

However,  MIOH respects SJF for all of these shortcomings... after all it is the home teams job to make the visiting team feel like they are on the road... away from all the comforts of a place like butterfield.

Lineback - Is she a temporary sox fan... or a real one?

Hopefully you are just counting and not ranking Dubbz.

If that is a rank you are crazy.  Ohio then Florida.  I'll mail you a tape of the NC game for clarification.

(1) Fla. (2) Calif.  (3) NJ  (4) Texas  (5) Ga. (6) Ohio

I was def. just naming off the states i knew had the best football.  it was not in order.  My good friend from HS now teaches in Ga.  where they have 5A football.   So I am all too familiar with the quality football athletes that come from that state.

In regards to the E8 best campus debate....

The best part of SJF is that Nazareth and all their sweet, untapped, sweet 17's are less than 500 yards away.  Naz is what makes SJF athletes choose fisher.  I remember on a recruitment trip there my overnight said "wait till tomorrow night when we go visit the purple and gold."  Confusion at the time was washed away the next night as the ratio to men to women at that nights festivities on the Naz campus was 69-1 female to male.

IC has to be the best football campus in the E8.  What other campus can you sit in a parking lot 100 yards from the stadium with 500 of your closest football fans enjoying the day as cops pass by waving and smiling.  Not to mention the view from atop anywhere in Butterfield.  Ithaca is also building 4 new buildings as we speak.  Including a new Athletics center that is supposedly breaking ground sometime in 08.
This link is pretty cool. http://www.ithaca.edu/tour/athletics.php?see=panos

Dubbz,

Love the pics in your signature.  The third picture appears to be a shot of #44 from Alfred reverently bowing before Felicetti.  Too bad that wasn't Gatto who appears to have worn #16 in that game.  Although, I suppose such a picture would be impossible as Gatto was never close enough to #3 to ever be in the same photo.

and they're not just beating these teams....they are destroying them... the yankees have been scoring in almost double digits every game...and if arod goes on another tear....the yanks could catch up with da sox... and not settle for the wc

Again, I ask who have they beaten? They're beating the tar out of terrible teams and pitchers. Look at the numbers, fella. During the reign of destruction, they're only 3-3 against winning pitchers (Yanks result in parentheses):

J. Shields (W)
Kazmir (L)
Marcum (W)
McGowan (L)
J. Shields (W)
J. Guthrie (L)

And James Shields isn't exactly Cy Young. They have a big 20-game stretching coming up (@Cle, vs Bal, vs Det, @LAA, @Det, vs Bos). If they go 12-8 or better on the trip, let's talk. Until then, let's call this what it is: the Yanks ripping inferior teams that are nowhere close to what they'll be playing when it matters (even assuming they make the playoffs).

Absolutely right, gb15. I remember reading something that said despite the Yankees beating up on teams like the White Sox, Devil Rays and Royals, they've only gained 2 games on the Red Sox or something like that. It doesn't matter if the Yankees win if the Red Sox do. But I think they will struggle mightily against teams with good pitching.

JQV

Not for nothing but all 17 of the Rays-Sox matchups are between July 3 and the end of the season.  They have 11 left still.

Going 19-7 since the All-Star game is impressive, regardless of the competition.

I'm a Mets fan, and if you look at the scrubs they've played since (Reds, Pirates, Nats), the Mets have only gone 7-4 against them.  It's easy to say that the better team should win, but obviously that doesn't always happen.  Heck, the Royals even have almost 50 wins this season!

The PGF game was today.  I thanked her for taking me to the game and said I'd call her soon and kissed her goodbye.

Wooooooooooooooo!  Next thing you know you'll be at Goodyear lake floating on an inntertube w/ her... while Mikey makes fun of you... as he grills his tufo burgers.

She's a red sox fan, so I'm taking her when they play the Chisox in a couple weeks. I haven't had her over to my place since then, because my roommate, The Great Salt Lake had his frat brothers in town, and one of them peed on the futon mattress, which is making the whole apartment smell like pee.

how are things going with your gf?  I love when you turn into a 77 and fall in love.
Go Bombers!

thank you miyh...and I think the yanks have made up more than 2 games... I think it's closer to 8... and plus you say that beating the team they are is nothing but you have to beat the bad teams..and it's not like football or something where the bad teams win a game or two they win 65-70 games...

Preseason Empire 8 Coaches Poll is posted on the SJF website.  Here it is:

1. St. John Fisher
2. Springfield
3. Alfred
4. Ithaca
5. Hartwick
6. Utica
7. Norwich

I think the rankings are pretty much what everybody expected.  Except I would give the edge to IC over AU for the third spot (even though AU beat IC in '06).

Also, my ranking of E8 football campuses looks like this:

1. Ithaca
2. SJF
3. Norwich
4. Alfred
5. Hartwick
6. Utica
7. Springfield

Although I love Fisher, I would say IC has the nicest campus in the E8.  But Fisher is quite nice as well because they have almost all brand new buildings and athletic facilities.  Norwich is in a nice part of the country but the buildings and athletic facilities are old and crappy.  Especially their "dungeon" of a visiting football locker room.
