geez super- you sound like a guy that got beat up by a fisher football player.
what is the beef---
i thought you were a fan

it probably doesnt hurt that Fisher is at least a couple K less than IC and doesnt have the same diversity requirements... alot easier for a "male, middle class, & white" football player to get into-   The Wegmans Pharmacy School i'm sure is also a draw in addition to the new facilities and the Bills.  Its not a bad school at all... my Uncle Gus went there and put his education to good use... now he's a millionaire after he started up Cheeburger Cheeburger with his brother-in-law.

Plus,  you have that quaint little campus across the way thats like 69-100% ladies over at Nazareth... having those kinda odds is kinda nice. Even Nazareth is taking alot of athletes away from IC... great PT program, fraction of the cost, new facilities, etc.

IC has its work cut out for them.  A Phys-Ed program thats almost extinct, tuition thats almost has high as Cornell and rising, we're gettin rid of the cool fountains since they are not sustainable... not to mention IC has little to no traditions (the abolished the only good thing going back in 2001: Foutain Day, its also practically a dry campus.  Sure we got a storied program, a couple Nat'l Titles, a handful more wins in the Cortaca Jug, and some smokin hott ladies... but I'm def. concerned.

Of course playing football helps but that's all across the board not just fisher. It wasn't too long ago that fisher football was one of the weakest in the conference and recruiting levels were beyond low. But trust me its much more than that. There's something invigorating about playing on a gorgeous field in front of fans who are really into your success, having a locker room that doesnt smell or look like a typical locker room, and being on a campus you rarely get lost on.

Agreed Rowdy..... when did they announce that they are getting rid of the foutain?  Its like the most recognizable part of campus...

NSRB cant say for sure... within the past 6 moths, Dubbz might know more,  but I heard rumor that was gonna take place.  The whole 100% sustainability thing is a little much for me... why dont they just rig up some solar panels to run the  fountains and lights.. or maybe stick one of those Billy Fucillo "HUGE" windmills on top of ol' Southy.. let the wind do its thing-

I'm not the one to talk since I came to campus in 01... but from what I've heard, yes.  MIYH and MIOH can vouch for it.  It was alot like Foutain Day at U Albany, and Dolphie Day.  It was the last day of classes every year in the spring.  People drinkin' in class, hangin out on the quad, BBQ'n, enjoying the "Gorges" weather, and gettin a little crazy.

Once they stopped the drinking on campus and after a few inccidents, things were put into motion.  I heard one girl jumped in the foutain, broke both ankles, but was so bombed she ran back to her room anyways... stuff like that

fisheralum91

ok- that sounds a lot like "class day" at fisher back in the stone age-----One day of fun and frolic and a collective turning a blind eye to most things

very similar.  Fountain Day was always the last day of classes (so different from Dolphie in that way) all of the students gather on campus with Senios near the Textor Ball in the center of campus.  At 3:50pm (when the last classes of the year were over) the seniors would run and jump into the fountain.  For a while the administration allowed it and tried to make it as safe as possible.  There were food tents, EMTs, etc on campus.  If a cop saw you with a beer bottle, they'd pour it into a cup for you and things like that.

Basically it was an all campus party.  The last "real" fountain day was Spring '99.  There were incidents including an athlete jumping off a 3rd Floor balcony for fun (uninjured somehow) and they ended it.

Its too bad because the day was an absolute blast and the alternative is now an off-campus block party that has more problems.

Fisher still has that day its just called St Patty's day. I know a few teachers that gave more credit to students who show up on Pattys day.

What's everyone's take on  the E8 senior(s) this year who have a shot at going to the next level? Every year there's some hype about it (B. Brady from Alfred, Fehrenbach from SJF) and I'd like to see who's sayin what

where are the regulars today?  Must be a "B Team" day.  Lumpy? MIOH? MIYH? Lineback? JoseQ? gobombers?  Did anyone find out if Tecmo and the Mrs got blown away by Flossie?

nice to see alot of new guys on PP though-

no beef here with the football players and I'm not making a blanket statement at all about a lot of the football players...but even they would say that you would be stupid not to realize that football players get some speical treatment when it comes to admission and this is not just at fisher but all schools

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

It's also true (at Fisher for sure, not so much at RPI) that a lot of teachers don't give football players any slack. A majority of them dislike the fact that athletes are excused from specific classes and days for games etc and will use it against them or just flat out will stick it to them if they have an assignment due. Fisher may get the jocks in the door but they have to get themselves out.

no special treatment for bomber football.

there was a huge thing 2 years ago and everyone had to have equivalent utilities to the football team.

there have been a number of sports teams outside of football at IC that have been slaughtered in recruiting cus the financial aid office will not help the teams out!
