Nah, I think my assumption is probably more likely.  :-*

I got a PM about it from one reader asking what was considered off-topic, so that's why I proposed it as an option. I wasn't just pulling it out of midair.

You should have told them to refer to the Liberty League page.

I handled it, thanks. You'll notice I didn't tell you to stop -- you should probably not complain about how I handled it.

You probably shouldn't complain about my complaining since I didn't complain about anything.

I am pretty sure your telling me how to do my job implies that you had a problem with how I did it.

This board is meant for talking football and football related opinions and ideas.  Not for constant cubs updates.  When I come home from work at night I'm forced to read pages of cubs information just to find football talk here and there inbetween.  Not that I'm complaining or anything ;)

A nice solution might be to start a thread for Cubs fans or whatever.  Then everyone is happy!  Just an idea!

The more I read about Alfred University the more I think they might be a SERIOUS contender for the E8 crown.  Not that they have'nt been in past years.  But this year seems like it could be there year to do it.  Although they play a super tough schedule.  They have great players coming back at all the key positions.  Keeley at QB, Hendrix at RB, Manzer at WR, Miller on the DL is a beast and should control the interior line of scrimmage.  Pep you should be very excited for this season I think.

FA05 - I think you are exactly right.  No one can argue that there schedule isn't gonna be very hard for them but (talent wise) this is the year for them to really make a move.  They have proved they can win against the big boys here and there...but the team they have this year is the one that can win a few of those.

They will have to do a lot, but AU has to scare the entire league.  Their team this year is one of the main reasons I have been saying that no one is going undefeated this year.

Unfortunately it could be yet another year when everyone just beats up on each other all year...with 4 contenders, it sets it right up for that.

I hear what you are saying on this too.  I don't mind the baseball talk (esp. b/c a lot of time they are talkin about my mets) and other mindless banter -- see LLPP.  But I think there are a lot of people who get on here for quick reads that get annoyed.  Thats one of the reasons why I commented on the PM's the other day.  I don't think it's a problem but maybe a compramise would be one or two cubs/baseball posts a day as opposed to pages.

then again....during working hours I'll take as much posting as possible to keep me occupied at my desk  :o

Well, here is the good news.  The Cubs are the Cubs, and will probably fall out of the race after their dugout falls down impaling their starting pitching staff, or some sort of tragedy.

Certainly the best answer is probably the majority of the people on this board who make the majority of the posts will dictate where the conversation ends up.  Spark the interest of the board on something D-III related, and that's where things will go.  I've been to a number of Ithaca practices and the scrimmages, and would love to talk about the team, especially if someone out there has something new to bring to the table.

As for you Pat, I simply said that anyone who questions off-topic posts simply needs to check out the Liberty League Board to see what is accepted here.   If you view that as some sort of attack on your job that's fine, and frankly doesn't surprise as a transparent insecurity has reared it's head numerous times through the years.  The fact this place has some karma system to pat people on the head, or to "spite" them is fitting, like a middle schooler who needs constant and endless praise.   Please get the last word in, make it a zinger, and let's end this.  This spat is dumb, and is worse than making people read about the Cubs.

This whole conversation seems silly.  Football season is here now so no more talk of cubs and insecurity soon...please?  ???
