KS - I don't think the E8 would accept a State School.  It just seems like it would too much difference between that and the rest.  Though I think some state schools would be the best options.

Agreeing with realistic I don't see a state school joining the E8 especially since Alfred refuses to schedule any games against state schools due to their relative competitive advantage in recruiting due to lower tuition rates.

Just a thought--how about Morrisville State they're independant- kinda close and probably in a class with Husson-Becker and Mt Ida--going to hide under the desk now

Does anyone really think Hamilton or any other NESCAC school would leave to join the E8 (or LL for that matter).  I don't see it happening......On a related note, how solid is Springfield to the 8?  Is this the beginning of more defections??

Stevens does not play football.

Isn't Hamilton a part of the LL for some sports?  They confuse me.

I think the only schools that would consider leaving the LL have rivals in the LL they want to keep playing.

SC will probably think about leaving.  NU was their shortest trip I believe.

I think that the E8 wouldn't take state schools and Hamilton/NESCAC schools wouldn't go E8 and it's all for the "we're better than you" reasons.

As for Springfield, I think they are stable.  They are competitive and have had a couple of the E8 rivalrys for years now.

I am trying to come up with a good addition right now and am drawing a blank.

Just to address Morrisville State (raised below), they are also joining the NJAC..

I'm sure that they will figure something out... I would not be surprised at all to see an midlevel LL team try and jump to see if they can get to the NCAA's... UofR would make an intresting choice...though acdemicly they would be above most of the schools... but they already have a rival...and UofR-Ithaca would make a great game

'acdemicly'????  This could be paired up with 'Saterday' and 'ridiculus'......Is St. John Fisher a state school??  Damn Superman.....

how about this--Syracuse drops to D-3 and joins the E-8

If the NAC gets an automatic bid on top of the NEFC, the Eastern Region playoff lineup will be considerably diluted.  Actually the current proposed NAC lineup looks much weaker than the NEFC.  As much as many of us gripe about Curry or Mass-Dartmouth giving another Eastern team an essential first round playoff bye, can you imagine if it was Mt. Ida or SUNY Maritime?

If you are Norwich, this makes all the sense in the world.  They would have a legitimate shot to win this conference and make the NCAA playoffs on a regular basis.

Springfield and WPI could jump from their conferences to the NAC... maybe coast guard and plymouth state?

coast guard??

Wow I step away for a little bit and all hell breaks loose... And it's not April 1st so I'm guessing this isn't another one of PC's Pranks

Cuse would probably be ranked 5th in the E8 Pre-Season Poll this year
