You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Thoughts on the game....

Defense played well, considering how long they were on the field.  UR did a nice job in gaining 3-4 yds on 1st and 2nd down to put themselves in good position to convert 3rd down.  They held a huge advantage in time of possession (37-23) and the number of plays run (86-48) and yet they only allowed 2 TD's by UR's offense.  One was on a hail mary at the end of the half, which the DB should of knocked down instead of going for the int.  Note to IC, you cant throw on #19 for SJF, he's too fast.  He looks like he gained about 10-15lbs of muscle and hits like a brick.

Offensive wise they didnt look too hot.  They were out of synch all night in the run game.  I give a lot of credit to UR on this, they were able to string out plays on some very creative run blitzes.  Hanson did have 90yds and 2 tds but that was it on the ground.  They were not able to maintain drives and stunk it up on 3rd down (1 for 7).  Kramer made a bad mistake on the pick six he gave up, tried to throw over a guy on his own 5yd line but failed to get it over the top of the defender.  He also seems a bit jittery in the pocket this year.  There were times where there was no pass rush and he's running around back there for no reason.  He had tons of time today the offensive line was amazing in pass protection.

They need a better effort out of the run game next week if they intend to go into butterball next week and get a win.

Making fun of Superman's spelling, how original....That hasn't been done before.

The Fisher game tonight was very slow paced as U of R did an excellent job regarding ball control.  I agree with Upstate's sentiments that Kramer had a shaky night despite excellent pass blocking for the most part.  On the drives they actually did score he looked very sharp however, so I guess he has just been a little more inconsistent than usual.  The defense did a good job with a sort of "bend but not break" feel as U of R consistently made drives up the field but came up empty most of the time.  One would have liked the defense to create more turnovers or just make those 3rd down stops because the bend but not break style of defenses tend to definitely break against the better teams in the country.  Anyway those are a few thoughts of the night.  Not a good night for the E8 tonight.

Well they did only lose by 3 to a good team on the road.  It's not like they are dead in the water.

I agree.  Springfield is far from out of it.  Although this definately hurts their chances for an at-large bid if they dont take the automatic bid.

Maybe Fisher will regain the top spot now in Budcrews East rankings.  Atleast I would hope they would.

To all Bomber fans, except Jose, you have my sympathies on this close loss.

To Jose, was Hartwick a cupcake that IC choked on or the real thing, like Coke, that backwashed?

The Fisher defense does make me a bit nervous.  This "bend but dont break" style might hurt them against a great offensive team (especially Springfield and Alfred).  The good news is that our offense is incredibly good once again this season.  They put up 37 tonight and it was a sub-par performance for their standards.  I think the defense will come around though.  They have a really good secondary with Stepnick and Miranto.  Young D-Line and linebackers will continue to progress.  We should be fine.

But we will find out next weekend at Butterfield.  The U of R quarterback was escaping an awful lot tonight.  Hopefully they can find a way to contain Juvan and company.

Goodnight to all.  I'm drunk and its way past my bedtime.  See ya'll tomorrow.

Got a bit chilly tonight boys...

I'll start off by saying everyone was ridiculously flat tonight, coaches included. Only in spurts did we get fired up... just one of those nights I suppose.

The offense didn't play very well tonight, and our O-line didn't impress all that much. I was expecting them to muscle UofR's front much more than they did - some of that needs to be credited to UofR, they played hard all game long. Pass protection was good for the most part, but Hanson didn't have much all night.

Our defense as previously mentioned had the bend but don't break feel to it. We got a big dose of Bilecki (sp?), and he's a tough runner. They gave up a few decent sized gains, but overall played pretty solid. The score should not have been that close... the TD at the end of the 1st half should have been easily prevented - Stepnick tried to pick it off instead of just knocking it down, and the kid came up w/ a good grab in the back of the endzone.

Overall not a pretty win, but a W nonetheless.

Tough night for IC --- I see there isn't the typical 391 posters on this evening.

Looking forward to next week!

PS- Evidently UofR didn't get the memo on #19, as they tested him the entire game and came up empty time and time again.

I don't believe Alfred has been in the top 25.  Probably the closest they came was two years ago after beating SJF, although I seem to remember a controversy as the first poll following that game did not reflect respect for AU's victory.  A good number of people referred to the poll as a joke.  The next pol showed AU much higher in the also mentions.  Before the current system AU won the Lambert Bowl (a trophy, not a game) in the early 70's as the "Best Small College Team In The East."  They also made it into the playoff system I think around 1989 as it was at that time.

Alfred won the ECAC championship over Bridgewater State (MA) in 1989.  They were controversially left out of the 16 team NCAA field.  Union won the East and went on to play for the NCAA championship.

Alfred's undefeated 1981 team is the Saxons' lone entry in the NCAA Championships. AU (10-0) hosted Montclair State and, in a characteristically low-scoring affair (Sam Sanders' team went 10-0 because of its outstanding defense), suffered a 13-12 loss on Merrill Field.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!
