Is Spencer MIYH's hometown? Pep is wondering if MIYH knows a Jeff VanRiper--or any of the VanRipers.

Any relation to Jean Van Riper?

Pep just got off the phone with Jeff, first time he's talked with him in 25+ years. Turns out Jean Van Riper is Jeff's mother.

Ha!  Post Patterns is the Kevin Bacon of the internet.

To be honest, Pep had to do a little googling to understand (and appreciate) this "Kevin Bacon" reference. Pep found:

http://www-distance.syr.edu/bacon.html

Pep makes note that it was three D3 college students (Albright) that started the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon."

+K for Pep's learning opportunity

Morning boys... punchin' in

speaking of degrees of separation of famous people...  NSRB had the honor of having dinner outside of the Turning Stone last night with the PGA players and local dignitaries.  Lot of familiar faces in the crowd including Jim Boeheim, Tom Fazio (designer of Turning Stone's courses), Maureen Green (WTVH 5), Mr. Appleby, Mr. Funk, and a plethora of other PGA pros that NSRB had no clue who they were, or their supermodel-esque wives/ girlfriends.

NSRB's Funk Number: 1

"....mmmm I sure could go for some sushi right now..."

After getting some lobster and oysters... Fred Funk turns to NSRB and notices his plate, and asks where the sushi is. NSRB obliged.

NSRB also began his day by getting a job offer to be the newest Conventions Promotion Manager, all in all... not a bad day

Saterday is almost here.  You know... I've got a hankerin' to go Fish'n.
Set your poles boys, here's hopin they'll be biting on Saterday

Enforcer,

Not sure why you ended up in MIYH's hometown, but as you probably know, it was a dry town until pretty recently, so the one bar is quite a step up from my childhood.  Mcann's is also pretty good if you're willing to take the extra 3 minutes to drive to Van Etten.  I'm assuming that's still open.

I put an ad on the Internet when I was between leases and living out of the back of my truck (seriously, in the 96b turnoff by longview) saying that I wanted to work for someone in exchange for free rent.  So, I fix up this guy's house, mow his lawn, trim some trees and whatnot and pay $100/month.  AND he has a hottub.  Dubbz PM'ed me about Mckann's but I haven't seen it.  I've been hanging around the Crow's Nest in Willseyville.

Congrats NSRB on the job offer.  After not being able to find a job for so long you deserve to get promoted quick to make up for lost time.  I'm down for some fishin' too - and I ain't talkin' 'bout no bullheads or sunnies in the Chapel Pond.

Fred Funk is supposed to be one of the nicest guys in golf.  Pretty cool, Rowdy.

Hey, where has lineback been these days??
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

MIYH,

just caught this on cnn.com.  NSRB Didnt know Denver had such a large Oktoberfest.  I sure hope you make it out there this year and have a couple.

"In the United States, the Great American Beer Festival is the big beer event. Now in its 26th year, this gathering in Denver, which takes place October 11-13, offers competitions, socializing and lots of beer tasting. In 2006, 41,000 people turned out, and attendance this year is expected to be comparable, as interest in craft brewing continues to be strong.

"The first (festival) was in 1982. There were 22 breweries, 40 beers and 800 attendees. This year there are 470 breweries entered," said Julia Herz, a spokeswoman for the Brewers Association in Boulder, Colorado, and a home brewer herself. "The growth of craft beer in the U.S. is based on the marketplace's demand for flavor and diversity."

Enforcer, sounds like a trip.  Does this guy "live in a van down by the river?"

Tecmo, Funk was a pretty nice guy, as were all the players last night (NO sign of John Daly).  Strange to see these millionaires dressed in blue jeans and t-shirts, but then again, they can do whatever they want.  NSRB was amused to see a couple of the Aussie players get out of a dodge caravan holding bottles in paper bags, completely 4-Oh'd, while trying to say hello between mumbles and hiccups.

Dubbz, NSRB should be down to I-town for ealy tailgaiting saterday with Lady NSRB.  Should be interesting... NSRB only asks that you dont ruin it for him.

tags all in good fun... I've already said that this is going to be a good close game.... I think fisher pulls out a close one...because of last years experiance and the fact is I'm not sold on Juvon being able to drive down the field with 2 minutes remaining to win the game

Juvan has been getting better and better, literally, with every game; he is not the problem. Our secondary has blown for years and is just as bad this year, and our O-Line is giving Danny n' the boys nothing to work with. THESE are the problems. One QB does not a team make.

Ouch Max......that hit a nerve......

It seems that it may be a challenge when one of our own can single out our "problem" so directly....I expect that from super or booby....but Max..."say it ain't so MAX!

Seems like there are enough bullets flyin at us from Pittsford without some "friendly fire".....

That's not right Bob, you can't lump me in to the "I expect that out of" crowd.  I rarely say anything negative about Ithaca, and even less so about the actual team.  Just some of the posters sometimes.  Come on mannnn, I am not at Superman's level (No offense Super, -k just to prove it)

Mr. N-

"Blown" was a little strong, and referred to the unit as a whole, not certain standouts who may be related to you and who's absence is felt real hard this year. I did get overzealous, but I'm just sick of all this "Oh, I just don't think Danny Juvan can handle the big game!" crap. Also, I reserve the right to be critical of an Ithaca team that does not look as good as any of its recent predecessors.

MIOH wishes he was there to help ruin it

Over-Under items for the Butterfield Tailgate

17 = Number of times Lady NSRB gets asked "What are you doing w/ NSRB?"

1 = Number of bomber shots Lady NSRB does

7 = Number of times NSRB turns Cardinal Red when MIYH tells stories of NSRB's undergrad days

6 = Number of minutes it takes Lady NSRB to get into her car and leave when NSRB decides that he needs to paint his chest prior to entering butterfield

9 = Number of PBR's MIYH finishes before entering Butterfield

69 = Number of Confiscated Cowbells by the FDC

MIYH: when are you arriving for this weekends festivities?

I get in to the Ithaca airport at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon.  Sounds like Mrs. Tecmo will be getting me, as Tecmo has other plans.

Glad I could drop some knowledge for ya Pep.

Probably won't be on again for a day or two; looking forward to seeing the IC boys in a couple days.  I think the yellow hat will make the trip, so Fisher folks, Robby, Tags, etc., come say hi.  I should be easy to spot.
