Sarge:

Pep spoke briefly with your Pops after Saterday's game....of course, we both spoke rather candidly about your bladder control problems. It was good to see him again and was hoping he'd make the trip into Vermont, but a little too far, even from the North Country.

Pep's working on mustering enough of a band to warrant the trip to Northfield to do battle with the Cadet band. Will certainly be outnumbered but AU Pep Band will definitely make some noise.

Hey Pep,

Happy to finally catch you on line.  Lookin' good so far!  Hope the Saxons stay focused and take one game at a time.

Goin' to Norwich eh?  You must be writing off the milage to the Sun.  I think it's 42 cents per mile now with the IRS.  :) :)

Hope to see you at one or mor of the last two games.  Haven't strayed far from home due to health concerns and gross monetary contributions to both of my daughters continuing education.

Best wishes to the Pep family.  Will be around.

Anyone know when the SJF/IC game is going to make it to the archive?

Upstate,

Good job on potential POY.

It will be interesting as the season progresses and more stats are available to limit the comparisons to include only E8 teams.  Or, is that what your info reflects already?

Did not know the POY was based on E8 competition only.....

I don't really know myself.  It was just an assumption I made as you referenced
E8 O-POY.  I guess it would be fun to look at it both ways.  There is some difference in stats as all E8 teams do not play the same non-conference teams.

I just love statistics as long as they are defined.  It will be interesting whichever way one looks at it.

Frank,

Actually 1999.  31-7 Union

Yep - my bad - was wondering why I couldn't find it on my old site.  We started in 2000.

I just went through this site.  Very convenient.

BTW  Does anyone know if any Hartwick people post on this site?

I would pay all the money currently in my pockets (which, admittedly, would be $0.00, but still) for that one delusional 'Wick hoops fan to come back and post all the time.  He was fun to have around...even if he'd obviously bring up the Wick-IC football disaster all the time and thus make me want to jam a fork in my eye every time for having watched that game in person.

Caz, Kutler will never get canned. As long as IC keeps collecting Commissioners' Cups like candy each May, Kutler will have a job. However, it seems the gap is closing across the board, not just on the football field. Look at the difference (determined by a percentage of points attained and possible points) between IC and the second place school the past few years in the Cup standings:

2003-04: .304
2004-05: .164
2005-06: .132
2006-07: .078

The dominance is slipping across the board. In fact, this may be the year that the Commissioners' Cup goes to a destination other than South Hill. The men's soccer team and football team are off to winless starts in the conference (two stalwarts in terms of collecting points). Plus, Stevens is now in the conference and they're a powerhouse in hoops and soccer. The only thing that keeps Ithaca winning this thing is that IC dominates in peripheral (yes, I said it) sports like women's hoops, swimming, softball, gymnastics, field hockey, etc. Sure, we have solid baseball and lax teams and the men's hoops team should compete for the E8 title this year. I'm not arguing that Kutler should be fired. Only that the gap is, and has been, closing between IC and the other E8 schools. This has all happened on Kutler's watch. Just sayin'.

Apparently it wasn't properly encoded at IC for us to archive it so we are getting a tape in the mail and it will be encoded at D3Cast.

That means it'll be a few days. Sorry. :(

Pep is happy to report there are some folks who think the band is worth having at EVERY game and have contributed to the band's travel expenses in order to get the band up to Norwich. Pep has been told the band is worth 7 points for the Saxons..... :o

There's no way that Welch's job is or should be in jeapordy, especially at this point.  Its way too early.  It's definately not outta the question for IC to go 8-2 the rest of the way, a very respectable season.  However, they could also go 6-4, but very doubtful.  My prediction, they lose one more.

Furthermore, maybe it is time that IC finally has to come down from that almighty hill that they have been atop for so long now, and come to the realization that there are teams out there that are not only closing the gap, but passing them.  I dare say that they have lost a lot of that luster that used to beat teams before stepping on the field and I think you have to give credit to Fisher for this.  They were the first team to consistently play them close and pull out wins in recent years.  The rest of the league is starting to stand up and take notice that IC is very beatable.  Maybe it isn't as much that IC is declining as it is that the rest of the league is getting better.

3 weeks are gonna make AU's season.  I just hope nothing stupid happens before those 3 weeks (see:Hartwick).

Paul Keeley- MVP     Aparrently he's pretty good.  He's gotta be a front runner right now, correct?  I know that Fisher has gotta have some athletes to put up against him, but you know i've gotta pull for my horse.

Well weve talked about Buff St. and Brockport, both programs had about 5-7 years of great football teams.

Except for maybe 1996-2004, Alfred has had one of the best football programs in the northeast.  They have always given Ithaca good games, even when IC was winning national championships.  Its no suprise that a good academic school like Alfred is doing well again.

Who knows what happens if an SJF coordinator gets a chance at a head job somewhere?

boobyhasgameyo

You mean like when Fisher's offensive coordinator left for U of R last year and people thought the offense would fizzle? I think they've survived that blow...

They lost one to the UofR and all that happened was a trip to the NCAA semi's and a long awaited W at Ithaca.....
