To say Welch needs to be fired is ridiculous, but to say he needs to have less of an impact on the game is a GREAT IDEA!!!  Welch needs to go back to carrying a clip board and managing his staff and players.  He should have NOTHING to do with offensive play calling.  For IC to lay an egg against Hartwick and then do much of the same vs SJF is terrible.  Let's not forget that at the half it was a 14-7 game and IC had much of the momentum.  Then the defense stops them at the start of the 3rd and Welch goes back to the air show, why???  He needs to realize the DJ might have the arm Josh didn't, but he can't read a defense nor can he make the simple play.  We have a fifth year senior in the backfield who had 9 carries?  Again, the receivers dropped some balls, but the ground game was working and we didn't need to chuck-and-duck it was only 14-7.  It seems to me that we have yet another season without IC in the playoffs.

I agree that Donovan should have gotten more carries, and that Juvan isn't very good, but I also don't think more carries would have helped anything. Donavan isn't all that impressive to be honest. He's a decent North / South runner with average speed and some power, but that wouldn't have made much of a difference in the game.

IC is just down this year overall - not sure how much play calling has to do with it. I'm not sure how active Welch was when they were racking up W's and championships, but I don't think it is the coach. Seems to me that if he is given the talent, he usually wins.

Sometimes you can just pound the ball out and control the clock, or at least get a feeling that you are in some control fo the game.
