Probably no one from Norwich around....just wondering what one might expect at Sabine Field this Saterday.

a blowout

With the long trip and interesting surroundings if AU doesnt keep their heads on tight they could be in for a let down.  NU is always physical and looking to hit some people.....

AU has never had any real problems with Norwich and i dont foresee any this saterday either.  We didn't have any problems when they had Garcon...I mean.. ummm.... its not like they can just throw one up at the end of the game and pull one out... or... sorry!  (Insert can of worms here)

Hopefully having the pep band travel with the team will remind them of need to keep the pressure up.  You can't hear the fight song if you don't score...

Some topics to discuss....

Does the earth open up and swallow the city of Ithaca if they finish with a sub .500 record?

What happens if Wick knocks off SJF this weekend?

Why does AU always have a player play both ways? Raynor/Brady/Miller, is depth an issue at AU?

Could Sharp be the most overhyped player EVER at the D3 level?

AUPepBand

Pep thinks after the first three games, the band should have the fight song memorized!

But at present, Pep has two trumpets, a trombone and a bass drum on the bandwagon for this Saterday. The band will need more than that to compete with Norwich's Cadet Band.

With 150+ players in the program, Pep doesn't think depth is an issue. There was a day (before Coach Murray) Pep remembers AU did not use starters on its special teams. It often caused problems. While Pep is only theorizing here, he's inclined to believe Murray likes to have the best man on the field to fill certain roles.

Raynor could do it all. Brady started at AU as a tailback, only to become a sick linebacker who could also go out and get the tough short yardage needed. Don Miller, while no Refrigerator, is a beast who can get the job done.

But the real reason Don Miller goes in for short yardage situations is that Coach Murray wants to give the band an opportunity to yell, "It's Miller Time!!" followed by "Great taste!" "Less filling!" etc.

1) No, but maybe this is the year the Textor ball finally rolls down the hill....

1A) Just kidding, definitely not.

2) Celebrations in Mayberry (and guilty pleasure celebrations in Ithaca)

3) Little known fact: Deion Sanders went to AU.

4) Maybe, but the most overhyped player on E8PP has to be a certain son of a certain windbag that got his dander all in a flutter.....

Classic Pep at its best....

Does the earth open up and swallow the city of Ithaca if they finish with a sub .500 record?
-- nothing at all.  I'd guess 99.9% of the city of Ithaca couldn't care less about IC football.  Probably 85% of students wouldn't notice either

What happens if Wick knocks off SJF this weekend?
Pretty sure it won't happen, but it would open the door for AU and create havoc

Why does AU always have a player play both ways? Raynor/Brady/Miller, is depth an issue at AU?
I'd say it's not depth but more Coach Murray is one of the few coach's who is willing to put star players playing both ways or special teams.  Welch finally did it in 2000 with Ron Amato and it worked out great.  He should have done it sooner.  I think most coaches are scared of the extra injury possibility and extra wear and tear.

Could Sharp be the most overhyped player EVER at the D3 level?
I don't think so.  You can't take away everything he did last year, so the "hype" wasn't really hype.  He has been playing teams that have had a long time to learn the system and watch what teams (IC, SJF) have done to stop it.

There are always celebrations in Mayberry....folks here even celebrated the 30th anniversary of the installation of its one-and-only traffic light in 2004. At present, the town is celebrating its Bicentennial!

Maxpower is mistaken. It wasn't Deion Sanders, it was Sam Sanders, son of (Coach) Sam Sanders, who went to AU.

Does the earth open up and swallow the city of Ithaca if they finish with a sub .500 record?

Nope.  What this means is that Hippies have officially taken over the city.  Next thing you know Ithaca will be the host of a Hippie Music Jam Fest (HMJF) that will destroy anything competitive withing city limits... They have already taken over IHS (ask Ron Amato) Have your Slayer CD's ready Bomber Fans

What happens if Wick knocks off SJF this weekend?

Drug testing for D3 Programs... starting in Oneonta... which will lead to the busting of the HGH lab that exists below the General Clinton Bar off main street in O-Town.

Why does AU always have a player play both ways? Raynor/Brady/Miller, is depth an issue at AU?

As a famous D3 Poster once said during an ICTV broadcast... "It seems like everybody in Alfred is going both ways these days"  When you put on the Purple and call yourself a Saxon... it's not surprising to see guys going both ways is it?

Could Sharp be the most overhyped player EVER at the D3 level?

Ever - probably not.  This year... yes.  In part because of the schedule Springfield had... in part because he was never a 1st team All-American talent.
