Point taken.

I'll try not to be a jerk if AU beats SJF after AU loses 2 weeks earlier to Hobart (no offense Pep and AUKaz - I think both you guys are knowledgeable enough regarding the Bart-AU rivalry to know that this scenario could happen).

Pep is well aware the Statesmen have had the Saxons' number of late. And AU will expect a dogfight in Geneva...the long Alfred-Hobart series is filled with close games no matter how the team records stand!

Pep,  We oldsters will always relish in the "Miracle at Geneva" game.  Can you dig up a SUN writeup?  I think a lot of the guys would enjoy one of the most unbelievable events in AU football.  Truly amazing!  Let's hope the current team can be as resourceful if needed.

We may need another miracle to get through the last three games.  Visiting all three teams involved at least we did win the last time we were at Growney.  To me it almost seemed like Julio's coming out party.

BTW what is the scoop on Julio?

Julio is back in Olean continuing with rehab in anticipation of returning to the Alfred campus for spring semester. Pep posted in the "Significant Injuries" thread (in the General Football category) an excerpt from an Olean Times-Herald interview of Julio. The kid is amazing. Just amazing. You gotta love him.

As for the Miracle at Geneva, Pep will post on that during Hobart Week. The band's going to Norwich--are you going? Pep needs a kazoo player!

Pep enjoys South Hill...his 2005 visit was when Pep met MIYH, Tecmo, et al FDC

We've met?  Or do you mean orange hat?  I don't think I made the trip from sunny Phoenix in '05.  If we did meet, I'm sorry Pep, but I don't remember, and now I feel like this guy:

"i can't wait to line up on saterday and see if your boys are as tough as you guys build them up to be."

Pep is pretty sure he met a man in a yellow hat among the FDC tailgaters prior to the IC-AU game on a warm sunny November 2005 day on South Hill. And then saw MIYH again at halftime after MIYH had opportunity to hear the AU Pep Band play the Saxon fight song--for the first time in three years. Pep could have had an attack of momentary color blindness or perhaps it was, like one Bomber fan, all just a dream. Is there more than one MIYH or was that, indeed MIOH?

Pep needs help here....

Pep, I was at the game and will look forward to my memory being refreshed.  3 scores in the last 7 minutes I think.

Anyway, I have been thinking of going to the SJF-'wick game.  Much closer to home.  I have been known to change my plans but the only thing I can play is the stereo. ;D

Pep,

You met w/ myself and tecmo prior to the '05 Gatto Bowl.  You turned down the beast light we offered... claiming you had to go tune up.

Go Bombers

MIOH,

Saxon73 arrived just before kickoff at that game and made the effort to find you in the IC stands.  As I recall you also introduced me to Rowdy.

Hope to make the trip again this year but not take a wrong turn and get there early.  :)

Ah yes, it was a man in an ORANGE hat. Thanks for setting Pep straight. And for the past couple years, Pep has addressed MIYH as if he were MIOH. Indeed, Pep turned down the beast light...but still had a few laughs. In accompanying the band as advisor, Pep doesn't participate in any activities prohibited of the band.

Pep recalls the bandwagon followed the Gattoes into Ithaca and onto campus. One hilariously exiting Saterday!

Max is a big, BIG Alfred fan in '07.

Kaz00 hearts Max.

All are welcome to hop aboard the AU Pep Bandwagon and support the Saxons....there's plenty of room, plenty of music, plenty of food and plenty of fun!

GO SAXONS!!

hey pep.  just wondering if AUs field was always in the location where it is now at the bottom of that hill.....

and let me throw this out there to the board.  Which school has the worst hill to go back and forth to class from.  Ithaca, Hartwick or Alfred?  (I had an 8am class my freshman year at the NCR building from the West tower.....not a fun walk in 2 feet of snow)

not so rowdy bomber

NSRB also thinks we met in Utica on a cold rainy Saterday a couple years ago with OrangeHat.  Pep was in the area to see some family NSRB thinks.

Dubbz.. "tough day to be a bomber?"  Did I miss something?

ClimbingFisher... thanks for agreeing. Though we may be the only ones who see it, I agree.  I still find it funny that you fellas look at this team as being better than last year.  Maybe so... and the numbers might prove that.. but after seeing the force that was ST JOHN FISHER FOOTBALL come out in the 2nd half last year and completely destroy Bomber Nation I feel that the team last year played better than this year.

... I might need to seek some additional couch time on Post Patterns to talk it out.

Fisher05... lets agree.. to disagree =)

Saxon73

JU,

I can help you with that one.  When I started at Au in Sept 1969 Merrill field was in the same location although it was a great grass field.

Classes don't really enter into it as no classes are held there.  The buidings above were not there at the time I was there but a significant building program has gone on.  I would say the stairs used to get down to the field make it easier access from the dorms which are beyond the new buildings.

I am picturing Hartwick from memory so I may be wrong, but I remember the hills on campus being worse than IC.  IC is roughgetting to but the hills werent too bad once on campus....though realistic lived in Upper Quads so didn't have to deal with towers/terrace hills too often.

Having visited Hartwick a few times I think the only people who decide to enroll there must be descended from mountain goats.  :)
