the only bad walk at fisher...was the walk from murphy to any class room building in the middle of winter...more than once I fell flat on my backside because they had not salted anything yet...

Nowich is up in the mountains, anyone know anything about their campus?

Very nice campus with a nice view of some hills from the west endzone.  Great place to watch a football game.

hey pep.  just wondering if AUs field was always in the location where it is now at the bottom of that hill.....

and let me throw this out there to the board.  Which school has the worst hill to go back and forth to class from.  Ithaca, Hartwick or Alfred?  (I had an 8am class my freshman year at the NCR building from the West tower.....not a fun walk in 2 feet of snow)

Merrill Field is named after John Jake Merrill, one-time NYS Tax Commissioner and Saxon fan who donated the land in, I believe, the early 1920s. The field was damaged by the Flood of 1935 that brought the Mighty Kanakadea over the field leaving rocks and debris all over. Merrill's granddaughter still resides in Alfred in arguably Mayberry's oldest house next to the AU Welcome Center at Fasano House (at the traffic light).

As for the AU campus, the Pine Hill Suites are probably the most difficult to navigate for resident students. But they have the best view of the Hot Dog Day Weekend Pine Hill Derby every spring!

Pep,  As I was in Delta Sig (now Fasano House) our neighbor was Dr Rase, who taught High Temperature Chemical Phase Equilibria, is the granddaughter related?

OOPS, I guess you meant next oldest, not next door to the welcome center?

Dr. Rase's wife is Peggy (Wingate) Rase, whose mother was a Merrill and whose grandfather was John Jake Merrill. Her father was Ray Wingate, longtime music professor at AU and first-ever carillonneur when AU got its counterfeit carillon back in 1937.

The Rase's house is probably Alfred's oldest house, and, yes, is next door to the welcome center.

Pep had the distinct pleasure of greeting one Elise (sp?) Fasano at a recent Habitat meeting. Elise is daughter of the late AU standout soccer goalkeeper Pat Fasano (one of Pep's best friends ever) and grandson of AU 1950s football player Joe Fasano, who resides across the street from Pep in Beautiful Downtown Tinkertown.

Pep,

I met Pat several times at Delta when I returned to campus.  He was a sincere and warm person - even though I was coming "home" he always made me feel at home.

Pep
How's the JV? My son's playing with Susqu on Sunday.

Pep has seen bits and pieces of AU's JV team. Pep has seen a few brilliant moments. And Pep has seen a lot of not-so-brilliant moments. However, AU's approach to the JV program appears to be an "everyone plays" and one might see four QBs in a single game...not easy to establish consistency that way. Nevertheless, the JVs win some and they lose some. Some kids shine...and the coaches take notes.

Games at AU at 1pm. Agree that so many guys are in and out it's hard to judge anything by it, at least after the first quarter. Can they spare a QB or two? Three have quit since camp. Don't know what that's about.
Pep doesn't have a schedule handy...is the game at AU or in Selinsgrove?

The Cubs couldn't blow a three game lead with six to go..... could they?  :-\
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

NSRB also thinks we met in Utica on a cold rainy Saterday a couple years ago with OrangeHat.  Pep was in the area to see some family NSRB thinks.

Dubbz.. "tough day to be a bomber?"  Did I miss something?

ClimbingFisher... thanks for agreeing. Though we may be the only ones who see it, I agree.  I still find it funny that you fellas look at this team as being better than last year.  Maybe so... and the numbers might prove that.. but after seeing the force that was ST JOHN FISHER FOOTBALL come out in the 2nd half last year and completely destroy Bomber Nation I feel that the team last year played better than this year.

... I might need to seek some additional couch time on Post Patterns to talk it out.

Fisher05... lets agree.. to disagree =)
Count me in on those that think SJF was better on the field last year to date.

I'm glad to see that Pep will be getting his own page on AlfredFootball.com soon!  Will it strictly be pep band related info or will an Alfred community timeline be uploaded?
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

I think that's an MLB thing -- the corporate office took most of these decisions over.

I haven't seen/read anything yet this season that points to SJF's 2007 squad being as good or better than the 2006 vintage (at least not yet).  That's sort of a subjective call that you can make an argument for either way - especially with such a small number of actual games played to date and the fact that SJF has played teams with a combined 3-10 record.  The IC win so far is really the only thing that stands out.

Personally, even with all the returning players they have back this season, Mark Robinson was such a great back that you can't lose him to graduation and not have some drop off.  I know Reile has some good numbers, but MR was one of those special "all time great/HOF caliber" players you can't really "replace."

Apologies if this has been discussed but the 'Cuse did stumble to life Saturday, and i don't care if it was against defenseless Louisville. Something good happening there?

TGP superman is not going to argue that Robinson deserves to have a shrine built on the fisher campus in likeness...and this team is  a different team... Hanson is an explosive rb but the focus this year seems to be on beating you not only on the ground but also in the air...I am also not as impressed with this year's d...it's tough to follow up on 5 shut outs...including a woodshed beating of Rowan

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I think this team is just a notch below the 2006 team, so far.....

Kramer is better this season, he's more aggressive than last season.  Last year he managed the games, this year he's taking them over.  Hanson and Reile are great compliments to Kramer, but this is Kramer's team....

There hasnt been too much of a drop off on D this year, the D-line is better than last year and the LBers are more active blitzing this year off the edge.  Stepnick and the secondary are just as good as last year....

BTW, Kramer should have at least 2 or 3 more TDs on the season as he overthrew a couple of WIDEOPEN WR's early during the UR game...he did a nice job of scrambling around and the WR's broke their route to go deep and he overthrew them both....
