Pep doesn't like that chant....to Pep's chagrin, there were a few "Super Saxon Fans" chanting the same thing as AU was beating Springfield last week, but thankfully, it subsided. Pep contends that when one directs chants to the opposition that basically say "You aren't as good as people said you were," you're at the same time telling your own team that the win wasn't all that great because the opponent wasn't as good as people said they were.

Pep much prefers "cheers" for one's own team rather than "jeers" directed at the opponent.

Cheers, not jeers!

They started the "over-rated" chant in the first half.....

SJFF82 suspects that there will be many jeers directed by SJF at SJF this week...what is Pep's philosophy on jeers at your OWN team?

AUPepBand

A "fan" who jeers his own team? Don't they call that an oxymoron?

RT isn't totally surprised at the SJF outcome...Hartwick seems to be for real, especially at home. You have to give them credit for big wins over Ithaca and now SJF.

Something about that field on the hill in that damn soccer town. RPI has had some bizarro experiences up there. The best strategy is to do whatever you need to do for a W, sneak out of there, and don't look back.

Could SJF have been looking past 'Wick down the road to the AU matchup? I'm sure the SJF fans and players will say "no way" but the reality is, that it's hard not too. Especially when you're in the driver's seat in your conference and one of your major threats (ie, Springfield) got knocked off already.

Well, it's a long season and thank goodness for the automatic bid. Maybe a little does of reality will help SJF in the long run. Tough to argue the philosophy of securing the tie and rolling the dice in overtime. I don't buy this crap of "go for the win on the road"...maybe that was true back in the days before OT but in the current format, you're better off having a chance to match up w/ your opponent in OT. If you can't kick a FG of 30 yds or less in college, Div 1, 2 or 3, then you shouldn't be a top 10 team in the country. I bet SJF would've probably won that game in OT the way they were driving at the end.

Hell, if the kicking game is a problem, grab one of the kids from the stud SJF soccer team and tell him he's now a football player and all he has to do is show up once a week...

theoriginalupstate

SJF always seems to have a dud game where they come out flat and dont preform to expectations....

03-RPI (24-17)
04-Norwich (39-34)
05-Alfred (13-7)
06-Springfield (55-38)
07-Hartwick (31-28)

Give the wick players credit, they stopped them when they had to, even though the coaches for Hartwick tried giving the game away on more than one occasion.

Kramer isnt having the season I expected him to have, he's making some poor decisions out there and thats really suprising.  He's having throws sail on him and he's late on throws.  Pressure getting to him?

SJF better take care of business from here on out and hope that Springfield and AU take down Hartwick.

Yea good points RT.  After seeing what Hartwick did to IC, Im not suprised that they lost up there.  But that place is a very wierd place to play/watch a football game.  I have flashbacks to 1987 everytime I go there.......

That guy about to be punched looks kind of like Charlie Weiss....I'm not sayin I'm just sayin.

The Hartwick bandwagon is now accepting applications.  As biased as I am towards the Bombers, it's good to see a team that everyone had perpetually written off actually doing quite well.  Everyone has their teams, but you've gotta appreciate how good this is for the game itself.  I, for one, won't be writing anyone off for a long time.  Cheers to NSRB  for the update last night.

Time for this guy to sit down with a tall jug of beer and hope that (a)his picks turn out well (Green Bay who?) and that (b) his Birds stick with the heinous uniforms that clearly allowed Mac to actually see his receivers.

Well, that about made my morning.  I guess that's payback for Superman's stupidity on here after the Ithaca/Hartwick game, and the guy in the Fisher tailgate area at Butterfield who started screaming at me " HAHA you lost to Hartwick."

Fisher fans should be used to horrible playcalling over the years in tight games.

Alfred in the driver's seat!
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

The thing that really bothers me is that they couldnt come up with something better than bringing in their back up QB and running a keeper?

If they want to go for it, fine, but thats the best option you have?

It certainly has been a weird day. I should have known what was coming as I witnessed Tulane leading the most dominant team in college football thus far (LSU, not USC), with two mins left in the first half.

Re: Fisher play-calling: I know you all are (very) emotional and upset right now, but give Vosburgh a break. God, I almost want him to come in here and go on a profanity-laced tirade at some of you people, ending with something powerful like "YOU WERE NOTHING WHEN I GOT HERE...WITHOUT ME, YOU ARE NOTHING." Sorry, I was daydreaming. Anyways, as I said, cut the guy some slack. It's not like he just thought "you know what would be cool, I'm going to do something we've never tried before and bring in the backup QB and try to run it in that way." He obviously thought it would work. Why did he think that? Because it probably HAS worked many times in practice against his first-team defense which he was justified in thinking was better than Hartwick's defense. None of you guys are at practice. Also, I'd venture to say that the QB keeper has easily been the most successful play in college football for teams inside the 5 yd line over the last two years. I'm not just talking about Tim Tebow or Ryan Perrilloux. EVERYONE is running it and running it successfully.

All I'm saying is don't blame the coach. Players win and lose games. You guys are forever glorifying how great your offensive line is. They should have manhandled those 'Wick guys down there. But they didn't. Tip your hat to Hartwick and move on. You have a hell of a coach and you should not be Monday (Sunday?) Morning Quarterbacking him when a) you don't know his reasons for calling the play, and b) your amazing O-Line couldn't get it done in the clutch. Plus, what about the other 3.99 quarters where you let an inferior team hang in the game. C'mon people, get serious.

I wouldn't have called it but it wasn't the only issue with that or the end of the first half drive. It seems Fisher goes to the 2:00 min drill with about 50 sec left and squanders precious seconds prior to that. Then they run out of time and do desperate plays. Not enough experience playing from behind for this coordinator? And if you are going to send out a backup quarterback that looks like a runner, at least send your best blocking receiver (Harmon) on the field to block for him. Hartwick didn't respect the pass for a second. Coaching and players share in this thing.

Actually, it was only about two quarters where Fisher did not play to their potential - first half 7-21, second 21-10. Maybe their pre-game warmup/preparation needs review. Traveling/Eating to close to game-time. Not enough intensity to pre-game warmups. They never really seem to be emotionally High walking on the field. Coach should give his half-time talks during pre-game.

All I know is that when Hartwick walked in behind those Bagpipes into that caged field, they were pumped.
