that makes me throw up a little in my mouth ... you should have seen the school attempt to push the soccer team at wick once in awhile.  At a homecoming one year they had one of the events at the soccer game .... they kept telling everyone to get into the stands and once they were full they snapped a pic and used that pic to show everyone how poopular soccer was ... bonk ... nobody goes to the games.

Fact of the matter is Oneonta is home of the National Soccer Hall of Fame which Pep thinks could be attributed to Hartwick's DI soccer program as well as an attempt to replicate the lucrative economic impact that baseball has had in nearby Cooperstown.

Pep maintains that Hartwick must be proud of its DI soccer program and is committed to maintaining the soccer tradition. Nothing wrong with that. Hobart has a similar lax tradition. And Alfred has always been DI in tiddlywinks.

Pep just was disappointed there weren't more attending Saterday's game from Hartwick. Albeit, those 'Wickers in attendance made some noise, no doubt spurred on by a vociferous cheering AU crowd. (Thanks once again to AU alum Mark O'Meara....Pep wishes he could have been on the 'Wick side to see the crowd do the "Silent Cheer"---priceless!)

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

I would agree that big upsets happen less at d3 in certain cases.  At d1 (lets say the Pac-10), the number one team in the country, (USC) plays the worst team in its league, (Stanford).  Now Stanford has the same amount of scholorship players as USC, and Id say 99% of them went to Stanford to play on the football team and maybe get a chance to play in the NFL.

Wierd, I didnt predict anything by any means, but it was funny I was thinking it....

As the topic of the day must be AU's pass defense and of course the fantastic performance of the PepBand, did no one else notice Vincent Jimi Hendrix gained 137 yards at an average of 6.0 yards per carry.

Pep could run for 100yds vs Hartwick.....

Thanks, Upstate. Fact is, Pep DID beat Hendrix in a short sprint, much like Pep beat the drum today.
Pep don't like to work, Pep likes to bang on the drum all day!
BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM BUM....

Great Homecoming crowd today at Merrill Field. Much excitement in the air...Pep was pleased with the turnout of students, alumni, and as always, the parents. Pep was disappointed that given the importance of today's game, Hartwick couldn't muster more than 100 fans to travel to the game, but Pep is reminded that Hartwick, unfortunately, is a soccer school. Hats off to the Hawks, however, who put up a great fight and kept AU fans on the edge of their seats.

The combination of sitting in the sun for 3 1/2 hours (that was one heckuva L O N G game) and the ridiculous amount of scoring, turnovers, penalties, left Pep very much drained....but also pumped with the win. Oh, and can we PLEASE get someone who can operate the clock? Was it four or five times that play had to be delayed to correct the clock? What's that about?

Pep was particularly pleased with the AU Pep Band turnout that essentially quadrupled last week's band! And Pep is getting compliments galore on the band's sound this season. Pep thinks AU being 5-0 may have something to do with it. Things always sound better, taste better, feels better when your team is winning.

During Pep's library coffee break yesterday, Pep randomly asked a student whether he played a musical instrument. He said that five years ago he had played baritone....Pep told him the band has a baritone no one is playing, could he meet us at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Saterday) at the band room. The kid was there at 11 a.m. Pep gave him a pep band shirt, which hs set aside. As we're preparing to head out to the tailgaters, Pep asked him whether he was going to put his shirt on.

"Oh, are we playing TODAY?" he asked. Pep replied, "We sure are, we've got a big game today and we're playing at it." Apparently he thought he was attending a practice. "We're throwing you right into the fire." Pep was pleased that our rookie trombone player took the newbie under his wing and worked with him on the band's music....Sixteen on the bandwagon today. Any others out there want to hop on?

All in all, an excellent day. Pep extends his kudos to the Hartwick team on playing an outstanding game and wishes them the best of luck the rest of the way. It was no fluke that the Hawks beat both Ithaca and Fisher at the cage. They are an outstanding team. And, Pep applauds the Saxons for overcoming a day filled with adversities...now Pep plans to check the stats before retiring for the night.

pep soopah man might have to break out the old trumpet for a go cards go...if he is able to make it too the showdowny at growny

Listen Super I am all about ignoring your spelling for the most part but in this case if you are going to try and coin a phrase especially involving your team's field...you have to try and get that right.  Growney Growney Growney

yea its going to be interesting at the end of the season.  Im a Boston College fan, and it wouldnt be impossible for them to go undefeated.  Then you have South Florida and a bunch of really good 1-2 loss teams.  Looks like LSU is a clear #1 and after that a bunch of tossups.  Ohio St again?

Dont forget about Cal

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I don't agree with this type of arguement...by this standard, 'Wick can say they are 1-1 over the past two seasons against Ithaca and Fisher...which is not a true indication of where the program/team is this year compared to last year...

Long ride back from Alfred last night.  Hat's off to Alfred.  They are going to be tough to beat...very, very balance offense.  Solid skill players at every position and a physical line.  I don't think Keeley was sacked once all day.  And the defense held tough when they had to.  It was heartbreaking to watch 'Wick get first and goal 3 times inside the 8 yard line in the first half and come away with nothing.

It was a great game to watch though.  I hope Hartwick pulls it together and runs the table the rest of the year.  Certainly won't be an easy feat...but one thing is for sure, this years 'Wick team can play with anyone in the E8.

That's Q.

Pretty much chaos here in Denver after last night's win.  I wish 90% of these "fans" were at the games earlier in the season before the playoffs were even in the realm of possibility.  This is very much a football town.

Your 0-2 on the road this season and your playing at Utica, a team your 2-2 against the past 4 seasons.  I think thats a relative argument.

4 seasons ago...there is maybe one or two players that were in the program 4 seasons ago.  You can argue home vs. away all you like...but you might as well bring up a game played in 1995 with that arguement...

I never said a win 4 seasons ago, I said over the past 4 seasons, which there are still players on the team that lost to Utica the last time they played at Utica.

Maybe if your coach didnt play so much madden you'd have a legitmate offense that can run and pass.  That will be your downfall vs Springfield.
