Quote from: fisheralum05 on October 08, 2007, 01:00:22 PMJose, what you fail to grasp is that in the 1990's Fisher played independent football if I'm not mistaken.  The teams of 1999,2000, and 2001 were just getting started in a very tough E8 conference with some long standing traditional football programs like IC and Alfred.  And since we joined the E8, we HAVE been on a gradual increase.  And, its funny to think, that IC seems to be on a gradual decrease.

Again I'm assuming some drop in Karma here.  It's ok though.

How does being an Independent affect my argument?  All three of IC's National Titles came while we were playing "Independent Football."  What exactly, don't I understand?

Also, a "very tough E8 Conference" in 1999, 2000, and 2001?  Let's forget for a minute that the E8 didn't sponsor football until 2002.  In the first year of the E8, the records of the conference members were:

Alfred 4-6, 1-3 E8
Utica 1-9, 0-4 E8
Fisher 6-2, 2-2 E8
Hartwick 8-2, 3-1 E8
IC 7-3, 4-0 E8

Aside from IC, who was coming off a run to the East Region Final the previous year, only Hartwick had a winning record the year before joining the conference.  It shoudl also be noted that 2002 was Utica's second year of Varsity football.

I am not sure the OAC was looking over its shoulder when the E8 formed in 2002.

Oh you opportunistic IC posters...you entirely take the reference to Fisher's 'club' championships out of context in order to have something to bash us for.  It was simply brought up (not sure who anymore) as a reference point for how long Fisher has been around and how wrong all of the posters who claim they came from nowhere are.  Re-read the posts....nobody was bragging about it or comparing it to IC's grand accomplishments.

For the record, it was the National Collegiate Football Association...I heard that they had pads and coaches and even played tackle...

Quote from: boobyhasgameyo on October 08, 2007, 07:44:03 AMA national championship is a national championship.
Viper...indeed the definition of taking the quote out of context...

defend your alma mater against what?

It was SJF guys who brought up this whole subject.  No one from IC or anywhere else has said anything unprovoked in weeks about SJF.

Obviously they have been better the last 2 years.  There is no disputing that.
This whole thing came up when a SJF guy tried to cite an example of IC having down years.  It was in the 40s.  You guys try and stir up drama on here and say it's us who are doing it.

Furthermore there has been discussion the past few weeks about the effect the Bills have on SJF's success.  Last week everyone from SJF was trying to say it wasn't a reason for success or continued success.  Now it is your argument for why they will be better than IC for years to come.

I agree with a lot of what you guys say....but it seems like you are looking for arguments where there really aren't any.

Actually they are 38-15 since '02...a bit longer than 2 years on my calendar

So now that Stanford has beaten USC I think we can safely say this is the weirdest football season on the books in a long time. It all starts with Michigan, the NFL has the Chargers blowing chunks and the Lions going nuts, both until yesterday, and let's not forget the huge mess we have here in our own little East Region.

Plus Rochester is alot more fun than Ithaca, sorry to say.

As a Rochester native that went to school in Ithaca, I know a lot, LOT of people that would take issue with that statement. I was constantly defending Rochester to people at IC, and elsewhere in New York. Rochester is seen as a crappy place, even though it's a paradise compared to those other two cities on the thruway up there. Not to mention the "1-7s" in Ithaca kick Rochester's arse up and down the sidewalk. You ever walked around at UR? Yuck.

Another issue... anyone on here from/in LA or the area? I'm going to a hockey game at the Staples Center Sunday and wondering if there's a cheap place to park... or park and ride a bus or something... any tips?

SJFF82, your signature is really funny in a pathetic sort of way. That Hartwick part is like Ithaca saying "SJF can't stop us except with superior facilities and recruiting and players."

gotcha...sorry for the misunderstanding

Well, now you've gone from sounding pathetic to sounding pathetic and beating your chest at the same time.

ok... so I thought of something fun to do...I am going to compare the teams in the E8 to DI teams...

Ithaca-Florida State/Tennesee they were dominant a while back but since have had a hard time finding a quaterback of their dreams and are in the midst of a few down years for the program....

Alfred-Oregon always in it a little bit but has never made the big leap to the next level...

Springfield-not quite sure on this one anyone have any ideas...

Fisher-I don't want to be biased so someone else can throw out an idea...

Hartwick-Rutgers/Illinois a team that is capable of a few upsets but relys way to much on one or two players

Norwich-Stanford capable of an upset everyonce in awhile but has more important things to worry about than football

Utica-Florida Atlantic/Florida International-still very new to game give them some time and they will be there with the big boys

Its all in good fun...right?  I respect IC and all it stands for.  Believe it or not, I do understand why many IC guys think that SJF has not earned its keep so to speak.  Well take it from a guy who was there when it (Fisher) started in the early 90's.  We worked very hard to get the program on its feet and unfortunately due to a few very bad seasons in the late 90's, everyone on here thinks that the current success was bought and paid for.

I think you're being too nice Super, but I like the idea. Jose is NOT going to like that you compared IC to Tenn, though...

Speaking of Jose, are you happy with the Rays' name change? Does this finally push them into contention? Or should they find another good starter? Kazmir, Shields, Sonnanstine +one more ain't too shabby, especially with the firm hold they've got on some good hitters. They can sure as hell be better than Baltimore next year....

Oh and in case it hasn't been said, GO YANKEES. A special good luck -k to Superman.
