Pep,

Did you see my earlier post on the "guys down south"  6-0 again for now, looks good for state playoffs for now.  We'll get some sooner or later. I keep trying but my beautifull daughters don't seem to want to use their guile for Dad

i guess im confused---If fisher wins out--they would most likely be tied with AU and possibly Hartwick---if wick beats springfield...
who gets the e8?

We talked about this a few days ago actually.  It is very possible that a 3-way tie could occur at the top of the E8.  Then, all sorts of things come into play to determine the AQ.

Scores vs. the 5,6,and 7 teams at the bottom of the conference.
Strength of Schedule Index
And some other crap I cant remember...

My guess is, that if Fisher finishes at 9-1 (5-1), Alfred at 9-1 (5-1), and Hartwick at 8-2 (5-1), Hartwick will most likely be left out of the big dance.  Either Fisher or Alfred will get the AQ, with the other getting a Pool C bid.  Hartwick's strength of schedule would be the key if this happens.  Their non-conference slate includes Western New England, Husson, Becker, and Mt. Ida.  Thats pretty weak.  Husson is competitive, but the other 3 are terrible (although WNE beat Hartwick somehow).  Fisher's non-conference slate includes Kings, Buffalo State, Rochester, and Brockport.

King's  0 - 5  Buff State 2 -3  Rochester 2-3  Port 2 - 3

I'm just sayin ....

So you're going to call someone out for not providing context on a team's record... by providing four team records with equally absent context? What if all four of those teams played Mount Union? If one of the methods is worthless, they all are; I'm betting on the latter.

Also, nice ATR column dew. I reluctantly agree about the Hartwick snub, though. Their offense went insane at Alfred; most games that'd be good enough to win.

No... it was my rebuttle to his comment that Hartwicks out of conference sucked... i was just saying its not like theirs was outwardly impressive
Cannot just compare the records of those OOC teams.  UR, Buff State and B-port's records are the result of much tougher competition than that of Mt Ida, Becker, etc...  Buff State beat Cortland for example.  Does either Becker, Mt Ida, Husson or Western NE have a win or even an opponent of that quality?

Brockport beat Cortland.  However, Buff State only lost by 3 so your point is well taken.
Thanks 'Port...I mixed up my "B" teams...and you actually illustrated my point even further with the Buff St. 3 pt loss to Cort.

Pep advised the AU coaching staff of the fertile ground around Tipton. Pep believes AU's  Pennsylvania recruiter tends to stay closer to US 15...time for him to take a drive out (the future) I-99 heading toward Altoona.

Pep is happy to have one of AU's football recruits as an employee at Herrick Library. Top notch kid. He made the visit to Alfred, liked it, but didn't want to play football but Pep believes he may be running track. Had he not been recruited for football, the kid would never have landed in Happy Valley.

2. Go to that D1 soccer team and pull some kid who doesn't speak english down the hill for kick-offs. Their defense is bend don't break, but when the other team is starting at midfield after every kickoff it doesn't take much to break.

If he's on scholarship for soccer then he cannot play Division III football.

I didn't know that, thanks. Although I wasn't suggesting they do that I was trying to make a point about their kickoffs.

They are voting on scores they read.

And the opponents' records, and the location of the games.

Frankly we could go round and round concerning polls. A couple of examples if polls are based on results for a particular year:

1. There shouldn't be a preseason poll since no games have been played yet. What is it based on?

2. In the first week of the season any team in the top 25 beaten by a team out of the rankings should be replaced by that team, right? If the poll is based on this years results.

Like I said we could go round and round and it gives us topics for discussion, but the great thing about DIII is it is actually decided on the field.
