Pep, the new page is great! I enjoyed finally being able to hear what I've been reading in your sig for so long.

You gotta get some new pictures up after the next game though... that spot is hard to ignore!

Yeah, it's sort of like every photo has something naughty  being censored...certainly a blemish on the band's heretofore untarnished complexion. 

Pep,  Looking behind the trumpet player picture it appears to be Saxon73 leaning against the top rail.  Is this a blemish.

Hardly a blemish, 73! That's one of the band's staunch supporters!

NOTE: Pep's karma is having its ups and downs today. Started at 181, went to 180, up to 182, back down to 180....perhaps it's time for the chair to step down (please, impeach the chair!)

The only unblemished picture of the pep band appears to be Kaz00 with kazoo raised in triumph.  However, why is my picture placed next to a poodle wearing a pep bandana?!?

What are you thinking about this weeks matchup against Husson?  They have been pretty competitive and have a 5-2 record.  I heard they have some good athletes. 

Fisher @ Springfield should be easy for the Cardinals.  Last time we played up there in the regular season in 2005, we crushed them.  Plus we beat them last year up there in the playoffs. 

Here are my predictions for this weeks E8 action:

As for the Husson game, Pep has a great deal of respect for the Eagles of Bangor. They had a solid defense last year and after putting 63 on the board (albeit against SUNY Maritime), their offense comes to Merrill Field no doubt with a little swagger. Pep is hopeful the Saxons will not take Husson lightly, will show up to play.

Is it just me or is Tom Brady the best QB in football?  I have a ton of respect for Peyton Manning, but I think Brady is just as good or better.  So efficient.  This season he finally has the offensive weapons around him to rival the Colts attack.

I think Alfred faces the best 4 defenses of their schedule these next four weeks.  The offense is very balanced however, so it will be interesting to see if they will continue to perform to the standard we have been used to.  The game this Saterday is very winnable if the Saxons are mentally prepared.

The major questions that need to be answered for the Saxons the rest of the way are: 1) how will they perform against a good team/defense on the road, 2) how will they react to trailing in the second half of a game, & 3) will the lack of discipline cost them.

I was interested to see how the passing game would react to colder weather and they performed well, so now I'm interested to see the make-up of this team as they face the above challenges in the final 4 games.

Agreed.  I'm also very interested to see how Alfred reacts in these types of situations.  To be honest, I don't really think they have even been tested by anybody that good yet.  Granted, they beat Hartwick who also beat Fisher.  But I still think Fisher is the class of the East this year and I have a feeling they will show that by the end of the regular season.  I think the season finale at Growney will be for the E8 title (like most are predicting).  That should be a really well played ball game.  Both teams are very balanced and efficient. 

The Fisher defense is improving it sounds like.  I got a little nervous earlier in the season.  But we have allowed only 7 and 2 points in the last two games respectively.  Stepnick is the best defensive player in the conference and our DL and LB's are improving.  GO CARDINALS

I'll keep posting anyways.  Fisher's schedule is a pretty big advantage right now.  Springfield this week.  Then Utica, bye week, Alfred.  That bye week will be key for us.  We should be very well rested for the Alfred showdown.  Alfred could very well be beat up.  Tough games there with Hobart and IC before metting Fisher.  To Alfreds credit, they did beat Fisher in 2005 @ Growney and Fisher was coming off the bye week.

Pep thinks SJF should send its jayvee squad to Springfield and then let them take on Utica at home Oct. 27....heck, give the Fisher starters three weeks rest in preparation for AU. 

Pep isn't so convinced that penalties can always be attributed to lack of discipline. One of the attributes of this team, in Pep's opinion, is the players are so motivated and eager (overzealous) to "make a play" that given wrong circumstances, they proceed anyway. If that's how one defines lack of discipline, then so be it. Pep thinks this Saxon team has so much heart that they'd much rather take a chance and make a hit than do nothing at all.
