Hey Caz Bombers:
Pep has just exchanged correspondence with the West Volusia Habitat for Humanity Executive Director in anticipation of accompanying 30 AU students to Deland for the Spring Break Blitz Build March 10-14. Seems they're having trouble securing a construction supervisor on that end. So if you're looking to fulfill your "community service" obligations, check out the local Habitat affiliate!

and FA the ha ha was more along the lines of laughing at the bickering over who was gonna start last night...and then old wakefield getting rocked...

listen, I go to a ton of Yankee games...if they are getting smacked around I will sit in my seat and pout...I won't become angry...but I remember my dad taking me and a friend to Fenway when I was 13 for my Bar Mitzvah present and we had great seats but because we were wearing Yankee gear and the yankees were crushing the red sox people were throwing things at me and my friend....

I had a similar experience at Fenway last year.  I went up to Boston with my brother to see the Yanks take on the RedSox.  I was wearing a yankee jersey and hat, since they are my team.  Were standing as the Yankees score a run.  The next thing I know, I am hit from behind by a flying hotdog full of ketchup and mustard.  I was quite angry, and turned around but the culprit was nowhere to be found.  Gutless if you ask me.  You wanna throw food at somebody you better be man enough to stand up and admit it.

I know I was a yanks fan at Fenway, but that was just uncalled for.  I would never think to throw anything at anyone, even a Sox fan at Yankee stadium.

Sometimes I'm annoyed with the way ESPN covers things.

However, I will say that when they do a serious story (I.e. the one that was just on about the UNC Mascot), they do it very well.

AU put some nasty hits on Utica QB Greg Pinelli and, to his credit, after sitting out a play or two, he was back out there asking for more. Saw him after the game. Tough kid. Competitor. While he didn't do much damage with his arm, he scrambled for positive yardage. Utica did a nice job of denying Vinson Hendrix up the gut and has a couple of solid defensive linemen. Hendrix was denied the century mark for the first time this season. Nevertheless, Pep expects the Bombers will roll.

In an attempt to get some life on the boards, Pep offers these NYS prognostications for Saterday:

Ithaca 30, Utica 6. Bombers are building momentum on their mission to salvage the season. Meanwhile, the Pioneers are denied again in their quest for some tillable soil where they might establish a settlement.

Hamilton 6, Colby 3. The Continentals put together a rare two-game win streak, doubling up a cold Colby team. But they do it without the offensive outburst of last week's 23 points, only their third double figure scoring in the past three years.

Alfred 31, Husson 13. A rugged Eagle defense holds the Saxons below their scoring average but AU's seniors finish with an unbeaten record at home for 2007.

Brockport 38, Morrisville 20. The Green and Gold Eagles fly over the much greener Mustangs of Moo'ville.

Montclair State 28, Cortland 24. They'll be painting the town red. The Red Hawks are for real in this matchup with the Red Dragons. How do you like them apples?

Hobart 33, St. Lawrence 14. Hobart's offense is putting up big numbers. The Saints aren't. But watch for the North Country squad to keep it close into the third quarter.

Rensselaer 37, Merchant Marine 12. The Engineers are rolling along and have no problem sinking the Mariners from Kings Point.

Rochester 31, WPI 28. The home field makes the difference as the Yellowjackets sting Worcester.

Springfield 26, St. John Fisher 24. In Pep's upset special, The Pride miss two extra points but get four Sharpe TD runs to edge the Cardinals in only their second game at Benedum this season. There's no place like home, there's no place like home.

Hartwick 49, Mount Ida 28. The Hawks are still flying high...Ida know..are there are any mountains in Newton, MASS?

Newport News 27, SUNY Maritime 6. The only good news for SUNY Maritime is that their last two opponents are Becker and Gallaudet.

NSRB, are you around anymore?  Has lady NSRB returned to her hometown yet?  You making the trip?

NSRB will be moving west down Ventura Boulevard route 90 to the burbs of Rochester to see the lady friend.  (... grumble grumble)

Too bad Fisher isnt in town... otherwise NSRB would be there in full Bomber regalia and rooting for Springfield and the Bombers at the same time. So instead, maybe NSRB will take in a Nazareth womens field hockey game...

Sure hope Utica doesnt turn out to be another Hartwick.

...oh and by the way, NSRB has very strong feelings against Cortland.

Mrs. Kaz00 and Kaz00, Jr. flew back from Jose's part of the country yesterday and the first two words Kaz00, Jr. said to me off the plane were "Daddy.  FOOTBALL!"  I picked up a Little Sicily pizza upon arriving back in Alfred and as I got back in the car with our pie I was met by a crying Kaz00, Jr. yelling "No pizza, FOOTBALL!"  Driving by Merrill Field with the lights on and the football team practicing made it so that Kaz00, Jr. and I ate our pizza in the stands while watching the Saxons practice.  Now there's a kid who's got Alfred football on his mind!

+k for good parenting.  But, let's be serious, it was his exposure to the South that put football on his mind...

Mrs. Kaz00 said that when he woke up Saterday morning the first thing he said to her was "Football!"  Even out of his normal routine and a thousand miles away he knew the Saxons had a game!

Now that the NCAA D-3 has dumped the QoWI in favor of the Opponents' Win % and Opponents' Opponents' Win % Strength of Schedule index, anyone know if the E8 is retaining the QoWI as the third tiebreaker or switching with the NCAA?  An answer probably should be given immediately if not sooner by the E8 since this could easily come into play this year again.
