If IC wins out and AU beats SJF in the final...then IC claims the E8....is that correct?

pg04

No.  IC has two conference losses.  Alfred would only have 1 in that scenario.  I don't think there is any way that IC can be involved unless Fisher somehow lost to Utica.

I'm pretty sure Hartwick only has one loss in the E8... so they are still in it.  Ithaca has two losses in the E8 so they need to beat Alfred and have Alfred lose to Fisher and have Fisher lose to Utica and have Hartwick lose to Utica I think....

boobyhasgameyo

yeah PG I saw you posted that before I posted mine but I invested time into the post and didn't want to abandon it.

Actually, Hartwick would win the 3 way tiebreaker if it were to be right now.

They are ranked 24th in the NCAA's SOS numbers, while Fisher is 136 and Alfred is 124...

The E8 tiebreakers are:

1.  Head to Head
2.  Results vs. lowest ranked teams in conference
3.  Results vs. Common non-conference opponents.
4.  NCAA SOS Calculation

The top 3 wouldn't apply so if 4 applied right now (Although I realize Alfred is a game ahead) , Hartwick would win.

So AU's season officially started a couple of hours ago.

That is why the SoS only using the OWP can't be right.  Hartwick would benefit more from 1-loss Fisher and Alfred than Alfred and Fisher would benefit from a 2-loss Hartwick in their OWP.  Somehow the OOWP needs to be calculated in and not used as just a 5th tie-breaker.

Back up for one second - Is it the SoS or is it termed as the QoWI?  The wording is key since you usually don't change tiebreakers in the middle of a season.

I don't think it'll matter because Utica can beat Hartwick [/Holding out eternal hope]

It does use the OOWP too (The NCAA numbers that I am referencing).  The E8 website has it as "The team's overall strength of schedule index (as determined by the NCAA procedure used at the completion of the season)"

Not to change the subject but Wasington and Jefferson has been a long time favorite of Saxon73, beware.

It's OK.  Alfred fans have the right to change the subject since they are the only ones that control their own destiny.   :)
