You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

FisherAlum05

well the site is pretty cool it also can simulate HS football games and you can do any year...so you could do the 03 USC vs. 04 USC

or 05 Texas vs. 06 Florida

yeah.  not too interested in a make believe NCAA D-1 fantasy football tournament.  Fact is, that there will never be a tournament at the D-1 level because of the revenue earned in bowl games.  If there were a tournament, they wouldn't be able to control who plays who and thats the main problem.

I still dont get that though.  Doesnt the NCAA decide what kind of playoff they would want and not the bowls?  They could do whatever they want and sell the rights to a network for a billion dollars for 10 years I bet.

I mean who wouldn't want to see the option of WVU vs. the defense of LSU... and so on

I agree that a tournament similar to D3 would be the most fair thing for everybody.  Also would be very exciting.  BUT, what the NCAA realizes is that there would be upsets.

Say Boise State played @ Texas in the first round and wins.  Then, you have Boise State moving on to the second round against say LSU or someone.  Boise State doesn't have a national fan base like that of Texas.  Revenue would be lost on the television side, plus revenue would be lost on ticket sales, apparel sales, etc.  They would much rather have a bowl game where THEY set up the game between Texas and LSU, which ensures the maximum amount of revenue possible for everybody involved.

It's all about money.  And in the current scheme of things, they have sponsorships from huge companies (millions of dollars) for every bowl game.  Would Visa or IBM want to sponsor a third round tournament game between Boise State and Boston College?  I highly doubt it.  But, Visa or IBM would love to sponsor a bowl game between Tennessee and Florida.  Money sucks (not really) and it has ruined D-1 football.  I really hope that someday they can figure out a way to have a tournament, so teams dont get left out of a chance at being champions.  I mean, Boise State and Auburn have been undefeated and not gotten a chance to win the whole thing.  Is that fair?  No.  Thats why NCAA basketball is so perfect, cause teams like Siena or Drexel or Davidson have their chance.

I feel pretty defeated by the whole process this weekend but the archive is up:

FisherAlum05

dont worry about it Pat.  We're all used to listening to the radio broadcast anyways so it wasn't too bad.  Maybe you could set up a D3Cast of Alfred @ Fisher in a few weeks  ;)  That would be awesome.

Well the Red Sox move on...

I predicted the Rockies to win it all before the playoffs on this very board, so I will stick with them...

Go Rockies!

I've posted in the OAC board recently and my viewpoints may not be too popular  :D.  Oh well.

Any AU fans or Hobart fans know if the AU/Hobart game is gonna be on the web?  Last year it was on the Bart radio and the guy said like between like every like word. Like.

Just caught my first Alfred game this weekend, and gotta say, I was pretty impressed.

Offensively they just dominated Husson. They clearly have several talented receivers and running backs, and it's very difficult to guard all of them.

My primary concern is penalties. Alfred gives away way too many yards on penalties, and in a close game that's gonna be the difference b/t a win and a loss.

That said, if they cut down on the penalties, I think they have a good shot at running the table against, Hobart, Ithaca and the Fishmen.

We'll see...

Oh, and Go DUCKS!

Hobart's campus radio station, WEOS, will have the game. As far as I know, the always solid Ted Baker is doing the broadcast.

Yes, lemme give props to Ted -- Always great to hear his voice when you're driving back from Rochester.  Wish they'd give him some more solid backup help, but he could carry the game alone if he needed to.  You can't go wrong with the WEOS broadcast with Ted at the helm.

Well I disagree with you about the upset thing.  It would be the opposite.  More people nationally would watch an upstart Bosie St team than your regualar top 10 team if it were the playoffs.

And my question was about the NCAA.  What do they have to lose?  The networks would still pay up front to have the contract and it would be their loss if the companies dont want to sponsor a game....
