Frank-

My hat is off to you for all of that, but you really need to get off the computer a little.

Also, when AU heads into Growney with 1 loss, and leaves with 2, it will end the discussion of E8 Bids. 8)

2 losses?  Not much faith.

Quote from: sjfcclimbing on October 24, 2007, 12:06:19 AMCurrent discussion at Fisher is when to have Senior Day. Two years ago it was Alfred and last year it was Springfield both losses - coincidence? It was scheduled for Alfred but the distraction for that game doesn't make sense and why tempt fate?

This was sarcasm...right?

SJF should prolly have it at the AU game.  Just saying.

wow- slow day on the board----
any discussion on Kemp getting the boot in Utica?

The head coach at Utica got the boot?  During the middle of the season?  I'm not sure who Kemp is.

I say if they can do it this week then do so, leave the alfred game as it is, because no matter what that game is going to be for the e8 championship...so let that be the only distraction that week

Soup,
What happens if AU beats Ithaca and Hartwick can take down Springfield?  So, "no matter what the game is going to be for the e8 championship" isn't exactly true.

Kemp the head coach of UC is gone.  Assistant head coach will coach the last three games and there is no word why Kemp is gone except the AD saying that it was a personnel issue.

It's still for the championship, because if Fisher wins, they go to the NCAA's hands down, if the fighting freds win they go to the NCAA's hands down...I see that as a championship game

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Wow, kudos to the UC administration for pulling the trigger.

D3 coaches get a lot more rope than coaches at other levels, and rightly so.  Most coaches get fired for things totally out of their control and, in D3, it seems more things are outside a coach's control than at any other level of sports.  However, I think it is pretty clear that whatever Kemp was doing at UC was not working.  Things never seemed to be pointing in the right direction.

Maybe a change will be good for UC and further strengthen the conference.  I don't think UC or HC will challenge for the league title on a consistent basis anytime in the near future but, if they can both improve to a legitimate upset contender (similar to HC's season this year) every E8 Saterday will be much more interesting.

fisheralum91

UC looked like they were on the right track when they went 6-4, but then the bottom dropped out.
Me thinks that there is much more to the story!

JQV

Everything we have seen since the 6-4 season shows that it was a fluke.  They haven't just lost a ton of games since then, they have gotten their doors blown off every Saterday.  I'd be interested to know what DC really thinks of Kemp but, I suspect he is too honarable a person to actually post it.

Also, someone just emailed me the story from the OD.  Classic picture they chose to run.  Kemp is trying to coach them up at practice while #21 gives himself The Stranger with both hands.

The game most likely will have wide ranging playoff implications, but to me "no matter what the game is going to be for the e8 championship" says that the game will decide the E8 title.  That very well may happen, but there are a number of scenarios where that may not be true.  Fortunately I'm not considering scenarios anymore so I'll spare you the analysis!

It sounds as though there is a lot more behind the firing of the Utica coach than just football.  That said, they could have easily fired him based on football as well.  With their location and field alone they should be attracting a lot more talent than the cupcake teams they have put out their each Saterday.

No offense, but, waaa.  No one cares when you havent accomplished anything this season (still could change) and you are  a dark horse trying to get into the playoffs and have not lived up to your billing.  Furthermore, um, its Utica.  Ya.  Before the season started would you have been asking for congratulations after beating Utica?

WICB Sports

WICB's Week 9 coverage of Bombers Football begins Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time with Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Robert Schroeder and Evan Heidenrich.  Head coach Mike Welch, wide receiver Jeff Bostic and kicker Dillon Dwyer will join the two hosts on the show.

At noon Eastern time, Michael Polak and Dan Cassavaugh have the call of the game from Benedum Field in Springfield.

Stay tuned for Bombers Postgame immediately after the game, as we're taking your calls at (607) 274-3217.  All callers will be entered into a drawing for two free Cortaca Jug tickets to be given away at the end of the show.

Saturday's game will not be broadcast on VIC Radio (www.vicradio.org), which will be broadcasting a doubleheader of Bombers soccer; however, in case WICB's online streams are full, additional online streams will be available at www.ithaca.edu/bombers.

On Sunday evening, Evan Heidenrich and Bombers tight end Pete Sachs will host Sports Talk from 6-7 p.m., breaking down the football game with Saturday's key players live in studio.  Sportscenter host Neil Everett and Will Carroll from Baseball Prospectus will also join Evan and Pete on Sunday night.

Thank you for your support and enjoy the ballgame.

NSRB isnt asking for congratulations... i'm just surprised that there werent any exciting moments in the Bombers game over Utica that could have made the list.  But Sarge if you want to go down that route... these games werent all to impressive either.  NSRB isnt looking for charity on behalf of the Bombers... just some media coverage

-Cornell 4-2 (1-2 Ivy) beat Brown: 2-4 (1-2 Ivy) at HOME, in OT 38-31

-Colgate football (4-3) beat Towson (3-5)  at HOME 27-17

-Cortland football 6-1 (5-0) beat Montclair St 5-2 (2-2) at HOME  43-13

-New Hartford 3-4 (3-3) beat ESM 6-1 AWAY 20-14

-Syracuse football... do I even need to go and get the numbers.  they beat Buffalo... yes Buffalo.  Syracuse was listed 3.5 points higher before the game.  So they won by 12, in the Carrier Dome... which reportedly had the lowest turnout in 20 years.

so dont be going down that trail... these games were nothing to write home about either with the exception of the HS game since ESM was the Section III Title Class A Champ and leading the league this year.  Like NSRB said before... just looking for some coverage

With all of said college teams playing at home last weekend, they probably didn't bother to send a camera over to Utica. Add up all the college games, plus the other high school playoff games on Saturday, and that's basically your limit.

I find the only time that there's Ithaca highlights is when they're at home and News10 sends a camera. Or in the case of Cortaca Jug, they're showing the game.

If you're upset about not seeing Ithaca highlights, wait until this Saturday's Time Warner Game of the Week, Brockport at Morrisville State.
