Man... After the passionate Harry freakin Potter discussion I'm having a tuff time taking any of your opinions seriously at this point

if you are going to read it... read it in a closet with a flash light and dont tell anyone...

Geez.  Grow up.  People have a right to read whatever they want.  What do you read? anything?

Not really... War books if anything.  Flags of Our Father being the last

Are we sure a coach at the D3 level can be fired soley based on his on field performance (record)?  I dont think he can... if he resigned obviously thats different.

Sure a coach can be fired for on field performance.  It is college football.  Honestly, I know some people inside the program and have personal friends that played at Utica.  I've heard some things that are quite worrisome.  At Fisher, the players police themselves.  No drinking during the week, only saturday nights after games.  No drugs, go to classes, etc.  If rules are broken, the players on the unity council decide the consequences.  At Utica, its much different.  My friends, whom both started at Utica for 2 years, did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted.  Drinking everynight, even the night before games.  Never went to class, got kicked off campus, etc.
Until some discipline is adopted by the players, it will be hard to change things.  A new coach is probably exactly what they need.

DewCrew, I know your an alum so dont take anything I just said personally.  Just some things I've heard.

Well you just proved what i was thinking... none of what you stated is on the field performance... there was obviously something else going on behind the scenes there... so thank you for your non relavant info

my non relevant info?  how is my info not relevant?

and to be honest, if you dont think a coach can be fired midseason at the college level you must be a total moron.  Like Jose said, this is America and you can fire anyone at anytime.

Also, lay off Harry Potter.  I like it as well.

Honestly I didnt know if they could be soley judge on their win loss record at a D3 school.. thats all.  Your info was non relavant to on the field reasons..meaning basically a coaches win loss record.  Your info had to do with with all off the field issues...academics, drinking, disciplinary actions...
Now I understand these two issues may affect each other greatly.  But still two different subjects

sarge musta had too many UC's

That was last night, and miller lite's while playing guitar hero on my buddy's xbox 360.  You guys ever play that thing?  Its unreal.  My fingers hurt today from rockin out so hard.
Anyways, it wasnt me that posted the driving to Ithaca to watch the Freds this weekend.
I will be in my backyard, cookin out and playing holy boards with the AU game over the internet pumping through my speakers as i celebrate with some beverage not nearly as good as an old fashioned Utica Club or Genny light.  Aw, the good ol beers up north.  At least i still get to listen to my boys win.

Hey Sarge, for $7.95 you can see it on Webcast....it's the ECAC game of the week.
Quoted from Alfred Today:

The Alfred University Football Team's game this Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m., at Hobart will be shown live on the internet.

The live video Webcast is sponsored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and can be accessed by going to http://www.ecac.tv/. The cost of accessing the Webcast is $7.95.

The AU football team has an overall record of 7-0 - the team's best since the 1981 Saxons finished 10-0 in the regular season en route to the school's first and only appearance in the NCAA Division III championship tournament - and is in first place in the Empire 8 with a 4-0 conference mark.

Alfred is ranked 11th and 13th, respectively, in this week's D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association national polls of Division III teams. The Saxons are also ranked second in the latest ECAC Lambert Poll for Division III, behind Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, PA).

Established in 1936 as the Lambert Trophy to recognize supremacy in Eastern college football, the award has since grown to recognize the best team in the East in the Bowl Subdivision. The Lambert Cup will be awarded to teams in the other three divisions. AU last won the Lambert Cup in 1971, when the Saxons finished with an 8-0 record.

The Saxons wrap up their season with three road games: this Saturday at Hobart, Nov. 3 at Ithaca, and Nov. 10 at St. John Fisher. Kickoff for all three games is at 1 p.m. Regardless of what Alfred does in its next two games, if St. John Fisher defeats Utica this weekend, the Nov. 10 AU and Fisher will be for the Empire 8 Conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

NCAA Regional Rankings are out....

1.  Alfred  7-0  7-0
2.  Curry  8-0  8-0
3.  Rensselaer  6-0  6-0
4.  St. John Fisher  7-1  7-1
5.  The College of New Jersey  6-1  6-1
6.  Albright  6-1  6-1
7.  Cortland State  5-1  6-1
8.  Union (New York)  4-2  4-2
9.  Hobart  5-2  5-2
10.  Delaware Valley  4-2  4-3

Seriously does anyone know why Delaware Valley is in the top ten?  They have beat the bottom teams in their conference and thats it... plus they have three losses?  Am I missing something?

Thanks for all that info Pep, I'll pass it along to some fellow Saxon fans who will only be in Geneva in spirit.  I do think that last line which I quoted above is not entirely true as we've discussed ad nauseum on these boards already.  The E8 champion could very well be decided by whether or not Hartwick beats Springfield if Alfred enters Growney with an unblemished conference record.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Hate to be a scrooge, but it's not the ECAC Game of the Week. All of Hobart's games are webcasted on ECAC.tv.

Ok so I say that Fisher is beating utica 42-0 at half and by midway through the 3rd quater Upstate is playing QB, boobie is playing wr, and FA91 is running for a 100 yards

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Gah! Even if Utica loses, I would like to see it be something close... not a ridiculous blowout.

Yeah wouldn't say stuff like that Super....could come back to bite you.  Not saying I think Utica will win, but saying they will be lucky to stay within 40....I just wouldn't go there.

booby, personally I hope that it is not a blow out, but drama never is a good thing for a team that is struggling, and losing there head coach before this game probably won't help their chances.

I could handle it being 35-14, for example.
