Anybody see DewCrews column yet?  I just read it.  His East Region rankings are very interesting this week.  I'm surprised Hartwick isn't in there.  Here it is:

1. Wesley
2. RPI
3. Salisbury
4. St. John Fisher
5. Alfred
6. New Jersey
7. Hobart
8. Ithaca
9. Rochester
10. Cortland State

I agree that Hartwick has an argument to be in the top 10, but who are you going to move out for them to get in. Maybe IC, who has the same record, and lost to Hartwick, but I think if they played again it would be a much different story. Rochester could be another one they trade places with, but they have been very impressive the last few weeks. I pretty much like the top 10 that DewCrew put out this week. The only change that I think I would make would be to move New Jersey ahead of AU.

New Jersey has been as impressive as anyone, and the 30-0 drubbing of #10 Cortland State was enough to move them ahead of AU who lost last week. In my mind anyway.

It is clearly idiotic that Hartwick is not in the top ten... Dewcrew is holding a personal vendetta vs Bosox... that or he is just not very bright
This is your (fisheralum05) reason for Ithaca to be in front of Hartwick?  now I have heard it all... i guess wins flat out just dont count anymore ...

There's no personal vendetta against you. You have to remember that poll is based on where they were the previous weeks before that. I'm sure there are some funky little idiosyncracies in all the polls, but I just call them as I see them. Hartwick has two good wins over St. John Fisher and Ithaca, but you can't play Norwich 19-13 and expect a ton of respect this week.
Ithaca has been on the rise ever since they lost to Hartwick, maybe Rochester is a bit misplaced, and I couldn't drop Cortland completely out because they had been ranked pretty high to begin with, they hadn't lost any conference games before TCNJ and TCNJ is a damn good team.

I hate to say it because he writes good articles in general, but I believe Dew has a little bias against Hartwick. Understandable with his Utica background. It would be hard for anyone to not be swayed by their past.
For example as good a baseball reporter as Peter Gammons his Red Sox bias does slip through sometimes. He does a very good job of trying to be fair but it's hard to hold it down.

OK maybe biased is too strong a word, but based on the UC/HC rivalry and your UC background there has to be some underlying feelings.

We can discuss this further next week. Make an appointment with my secratary on the way out.

Know to your reasons:

1. Wins against Norwich, Utica & Brockport signal a rise????

2. A 19-13 came in ankle deep mud should not carry much weight beyond you escaped. In those conditions anything can and will happen.

3. Although a win against SC (not your fathers SC) counts for something. Head-to-Head and against common opponents (SJF) should carry the most weight.

admirals_vt

Don't get me wrong, I totally hope IC is on the rise and lives up to that position by beating AU this weekend, while 'wick takes care of their business in the cage against SC.

Tessie is the tue they always sung!

I used to really, really like that Dropkick tune from The Departed...that song could fire you up to fight a bear.  Now though I will think of nothing but Papelbon's lunatic dancing and of course, why he was dancing in the first place.  Now if you'll excuse me, I think I need to go buy a Wilson Betemit #14 shirt...the must-have accessory for Yankee fans in 2008.

This is where Simmons would add "I will now light myself on fire."

uuuggghhh - I've been a Dropkicks fan for years, I hate that all of these bandwagon sox fans now a Dropkicks fans too....

chris7sarge

And so...  maybe the last two weeks will finally bring about some answers to the disagreements on this page.  If SC does beat hartwick, AU loses to IC, and then beats SJF, this could cause a grueling (spellcheck that) 8 months of banter on this board.  Luckily for us all, AU is gonna win out.

chris7sarge

by the way, is there any way to ban redswarm.  I cant stand the sound of his voice in my head.... and he's TYPING.  His arguments make me feel like i'm talking to/reading a deranged sociopath that turns everything around to make himself hear the "truth" in his head.

Actually, this is an accurate statement if by "slips out" you mean, he takes it out and bludgeons the audience over the head with it.

In baseball cirlces, Gammy is referred to as "The Red Sox PR Director."

Good thing he has an incredible partner, from an incredible school, to balance him out.

I was kidding about you having a personal vendetta against me... although i now have one against you..
If a Hartwick WIN over a low grade team in awful weather without their star running back Crea is what kept them out... how is RPI at number two?  According to this logic RPI needing a lucky come from behind win over WPI should have dropped them?
Cortland I can live with... Ithaca and Rochester absolutley not... Ithaca same record lost head to head?  what else do you need to see?  Is there another team in the region that has beaten two of the temas in your top ten?  If call them the way you see them... you have horrible vision

[/quote]

I can't stand RPI but they should be number #2. If they run the table in the LL they should be #1. If you want know about Hartwick I'll tell you (I do however have them in my top ten at #10). Hartwick can and will always be questioned because they lost to WNEC which is pathetic. Then they go and beat SJF. What the heck is that? Now you ask about RPI? Well  RPI even with a weak schedule has beaten everyone so far including two or three teams that may be a bit better or a little bit worse than WNEC in Endicott and Utica. They also beat hobart whom easily beat Alfred who was the former number #1 in the east. So for right now RPI should be #2 and close to number one (although I am glad they are not).

TOD,
I mean that on a week-by-week basis. For example, even though Alfred lost to Hobart, I couldn't take them all the way out of the Top 10 poll because I've had them at Number 1 or 2 for about a month or more.
Same thing with Cortland. Even though they were monkey-stomped by TCNJ, they were pretty high in the poll, so I couldn't take them out completely.
And how can you fault Rochester for beating a league opponent by 18 points? And they are also 4-1 in conference, with their only loss to Union, a game they only lost by 6.
