Last year in Alliance some dood that was sitting behind me kept yelling "come on, finish 'em, put the hammer down"...

He yelled it in the 1st qtr. He yelled it in the 2nd qtr. He yelled it in the 3rd qtr. And he yelled it in the 4th qtr.

Want to know why he had to yell it (in my ear) each quarter until the final gun sounded? B/c they couldn't "put the hammer down", they couldn't beat Fisher 55-3 like everyone thought they were going to see. And if you say they didn't try to pound Fisher and end it early, you're only kidding yourself.

My point is that the top teams in the East can play ball with these teams, and this year is another opportunity for us to show that.

I remember that... but there were some very friendly MUC fans sitting to the sides of us...

I wanted to tell him where he could put the hammer

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Was he an old dood?  Many of the season ticket holders are ooooold.  JT was harrassed by an old fart once.. but most of the fans are pretty cool.

It is MOUNT UNION that the Bombers are playing so right away you have to give the edge to them.  At the same time it is really not as overwhelming as some are making it out to be.  I do believe to an extent that the OAC has a large drop off in competition from the better schools to the lower ones which is why a lot of their scores and stats are rather bloated.  If anyone remembers 2003, in the quarters RPI and Ithaca played in Noreaster in a game that came down to the last drive really.  RPI winnning, they went on to play St. John's in another close game and St. John's went on to beat Mount Union that year for the Championship.  I know you really shouldn't use they "Well we beat the team that they lost to mantality", but it does show that competition is definitely there.  No matter what happens you got to love two teams meeting in the first round with a combined 17 National chamionship apperances and a combined 12 National Championships.  Not to mention the fact that they are two of the most recognizable schools in all of Division 3 sports.  This is just outstanding.

QuoteBut don't tell me for a second they are going to waltz through this bracket, because it's just not going to happen.

I never said they would waltz through.  I would be surprised, however, if the game against Ithaca is closer than 20 points.  That's not a knock on Ithaca, either.  You have to be good to get here, I just don't see them staying with the Raiders.

how does the Nat Championship count break down? MUC 9, IC 3 or something like that?

I agree that the east can play with the OAC. I also agree that MUC has a tough road to go through the east region. Obviously MUC is not scared of anybody, and they can beat any team they play. But Fisher was probably there toughest game last year, and honestly Fisher had a chance to win that game in the 4th quarter.

If you want my honest opinion, I think the NCAA put MUC in the east to make it as tough as possible for MUC to run through to the championship. I think they still will run through because they are just that good. Tougher yes, unlikely no.
GO FISHER!!!

I wish you would just be honest with us.

Yes, Ithaca 7 appearances, 3 Chamionships...Mount has 10 appearances and 9 National Championships.

How close was that St. John Fisher/Mount Union game last year?

26-14,

Fisher had a first and goal from the three with a few minutes left, down by 5. A field goal attempt was blocked, and MUC took the next drive down for a score.
GO FISHER!!!

Yeah, I definitely see an E8 team having a great chance against Mount.  I was looking at the stats of the teams they play, they really don't see as many west coast style teams as Ithaca, Fisher, and Wick.  Could bea check for those teams in the preparation category.

lumpy

All i have to say is: let them keep thinking they are going to beat the bombers by ooodles, because we love that stuff, it just fuels the fire! The truth will come out on Saturday.

GO BOMBERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sjfcards

well I would not say the E8 teams have a chance to beat MUC, but I think the teams have a chance to keep it somewhat close.

MUC will probably end up winning the OAC, The E8, the East, and the National Championship this year.
GO FISHER!!!
