You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Early predictions from your friendly neighborhood upstate....

MUC vs IC- Assuming IC gets creative with their 3-4 and brings pressure from everywhere IC keeps it close for 3 qtrs but Byers wears down eventually and MUC pulls away late 45-27

TCNJ vs RPI- Robertson and their spread keeps an aggressive TCNJ D at bay all day.  RPI gets a suprising defensive effort as they limit the TCNJ offense to just 10 pts.  31-10

WICK vs Curry- Boltus/Phelan/Crea team up to air out this spice.  Wick blows past Curry this weekend 47-28.

SJF vs BART- SJF's Defense is on a roll going into the playoffs.  Becton and Schenk will have a good day vs the run and Miranto and Stepnick will give Strom fits as they are around the ball all day.  In a surpisingly low scoring game vs 2 teams that score almost 40pts a game SJF pulls it out with a strong defensive effort in a 24-17 win.

How does one not post at all and  get + K.  That seems to have occured to a certain someone that lurks around here.

I think you start with +2, right Pat?

Almost. A couple years ago I was feeling particularly magnanimous come holiday time and I plus-2'd everyone. :)

Pat... have to say I'm a big fan of the 50-cent words... magnanimous.

Any chance pat is using this word because he heard it on Howard Stern the other day?

My predictions:
MUC gets more than they bargain for, but still beat IC 40-24
RPI vs. TCNJ: RPI has more experience in the playoffs, but this one will be close. RPI wins 27-20.
Hartwick vs. Curry: Hartwick beats up on the NEFC. Hawks 56, Curry 16.
SJF vs. Hobart: The best game of the weekend. Hobart comes out strong, but Fisher is too much. Fisher 24, Hobart 21.

Pat is a regular sesquipedalian.  He taught Howard that word last year!  ;)

I would love to see IC score 24 or more on MUC... they've only given up 24 all year to this point.

I think IC has the weapons to do so, Donovan can pound with the best of them.  IC's O line is going to have their hands full all day but they need to come out and start strong to get Donovan rolling.  Also, IC needs to get their TE and FB involved to move the chains, they're not going to be able to use their speedy WR's downfield all that often.

Well here we are folks my 900th post.  What a journey it has been these past few years...Friendships and rivalries forged out of the blood sweat and tears poured onto this keyboard of mine....This message board which I call my internet home will always be my secret love as I will admit to nobody that knows me in the real world that I post on this.  Without this glorious posting section I would have saw the Pep Band from Alfred every time they played Fisher and thought nothing of it...But bet your bottom dollar when they were playing this past weekend I smiled from afar thinking hey....I may know a person or two in that section.  If not for this amazing brain child of Pat Coleman I would have thought men wearing oversized hats are tools but oh no my friend they are dedicated fans.  Thanks for the memories everybody  <accepts award with tears filling eyes>  It has been fun.

Whoever is posting under the handle "SJF Fan" on the Daily Dose, please read this (I don't have a login name for that, so I'm posting it here and hoping that you catch it).

Your calling the OAC the Purple Patsies Conference and suggestions that the OAC teams are very poor and not up to the likes of the tough East Region competition is way off base.  Sorry for the folks that saw this info already, but I have to repost it here.  This is the playoff history of the OAC runners-up since 99.

2006 - Capital easily defeates Wittenberg and North Central before falling by a FG at Mount

2005 - Capital beats North Central and Wabash before falling by a FG at Mount

In 2004 the OAC did not have a second playoff rep.

2003 - Baldwin-Wallace wins their first round game before losing to Wheaton

2002 - John Carroll moved to East Region and wins three games before falling in semifinals to Mount

In 2001 the OAC did not have a second playoff rep.

2000 - Ohio Northern wins their first two playoff games before losing to Mount

1999 - Ohio Northern wins their first two playoff games before losing to Mount

See a pattern here?  Over the last eight years, the OAC runner-up has earned a playoff bid six times.  ONCE they were defeated by an opponent other than Mt. Union.  Five times, they won multiple playoff games against other quality opponents before losing to Mount.  One other point worth noting - it's not always the same team as the OAC #2.  It's actually been 4 different OAC runner-ups that have acheived this, which to me is evidence of terrific depth of quality teams.

This evidence makes a pretty compelling case for the OAC as an unbelievably strong conference, not a substantially overrated one.  The OAC runner-up is 12-6 in the playoffs since 1999.  Discount the losses to Mount Union and they are 12-1.

Please tell me how you can regard this conference as "substantially overrated" given the outstanding playoff success of their teams other than Mount Union.

As an addendum, you can take note of how in 2002 OAC runnerup John Carroll was sent to the East Region and won it.  You still truly believe that the OAC is not up to the level of competition that Mount Union will see in the East Region?

My honest-to-goodness prediction?  Mount Union wins their first three playoff games pretty comfortably, all by 21 or more points.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...
