As I understand it now, MUC was moved to the East because the committee wanted to insure that the Top 4 teams received the number 1 bids.  But why make MUC, clearly the number 1 of the 1's overall, play in the Region with the presumptive Top #2 seed?  SJF is the #5 in the country, so why 'reward' MUC with the potential of the toughest 1 v 2 Regional semifinal game?  And of course, is there any doubt that Ithaca is not the standard one and done team that MUC usually faces at this time in the season...or perhaps even a force to be reckoned with?

Now the easy answer to all of the this is "mileage"  The 500 mile rule.  Is MUC the only number 1 that could be imported and still not upset the 500 mile rule all the way around the board?  Perhaps, but the choice was, give all the number 1's to the top 4 or make a very slight variation by giving the East 1 to SJF and keep MUC in the normal pattern of destroying its' North region counterparts.

Bottom line, I BELIEVE, is that the Committee saw an opportunity to test MUC...and the East for that matter, and took advantage of the fact that in their eyes, the East lacked a true 1 seed.

I hope Ithaca  makes a statement for the entire East and New York football specifically...

GO...CHOKE CHOKE......BOMBERS!

I was in Allinace last year for the SJF game....what a crowd we had....Bombers' faithful get to the game if you can....make alot of noise, your men need it and it will help them...IT CAN BE DONE!!!

p.s.  See if you can't get RunninRobby25 to go with ya...you could use him to ;)

I dont think its a test... i think its only because they are trying to get the top 4 teams the number one seeds no matter what and thats how it worked out geographically.

"The Pioneers finished the season with a 3-7 mark after a record-setting 72-70 loss to Hartwick on Saturday – a game that featured the most points in modern NCAA history. In the Pioneers' final two games of the season, UC scored 100 points -- two more than the Pioneers had in the first eight games of the season. "

I think that line speaks for itself.  I think we could accomodate you, Kirk.  COME TO ITHACA!

go bombers.

MUC SUCKS!

Isn't "Taste It!" a Cortland saying?  -65 Karma would fit some of the Cortland posters.....

Reno is just bitter because all his seasons at Union ended in a loss to IC in the playoffs.  U89 got over it and gets along with us (even though I surmise he still roots against IC) why can't Reno?

Honestly, I will be rooting hard for IC over MUC.  I'm not sure where Reno is coming from.  Since way back in the mid-80's, Union players have hated Ithaca because of the rivalty and the fact that we were the 2 strongest programs by far in Upstate NY at the time.  Though Union does not 'like' Ithaca, there is a huge degree of respect for the program.

EDIT: I was mistaken.  IC got beat in an ECAC game at Union my freshman year.

Even though I wasn't around during the rivalry (in fact, I don't think IC played Union at all during my four years), I feel the same way about the Union program.

Does anyone know what happens to a high school senior in Ohio who is slightly undersized and is too dumb to get into Ohio State?

A.  Marry a sibling
B.  Embark on a career in urinal cake making
C.  Play football for Mount Union
D.  Try and apply to Cortland

Just read back a few pages and had to comment on this.  Is this even possible?

But back to football.........

It seems like Hartwick has some defensive problems.  But is it speed, size, quickness?

Size up front. They need some space eaters. If a team has a power running game we are in huge trouble. The defenses goal is to get one or two stops a game, the offense will take over from there.

Well dont know if Im going to be the bearer of bad news, but Curry is 100% power running game.  They run a lot of unbalanced I formation with a tackle over.  Also a big oline and some solid rbs.  Curry does not have a lot of offensive team speed, but they ran the ball at will against CG.

And just wait when its 3rd and 1 or 4th and one, and they qb sneak it with 3 olinemen in the backfield pushing the whole line forward 5 yards!

JU... is this right??? I thought Curry was a high flying offense like the Wick?  Or are they just putting up big Offensive numbers?

Well against Coast Guard it was true.  But Coast Guard was one of the smallest d3 teams I have ever seen, NEFC or non-NEFC.

But high flying Curry is not.  The QB is good and they have some good sized Wrs, but they definitly tried to power the ball against Curry.  I would expect them to do the same against Hartwick if they are as small as you say they are.

That same exact theory didn't work out too well for Springfield - you absolutely need a defense to do any damage in the NCAA's.

I agree, but lets not forget this is only 'wicks first taste of the NCAA's. We'll be happy with monkey stomping Curry and build on that for next year with the same offense and improved defense and special teams (both problems right now)

That is not necessarily a bad thing. When a team like Hartwick scores quick touchdowns a grind it out team will panic and try to open it up. That is when they make mistakes, especially if they are trying to do things they don't normally do. That has been the one strength of Hartwicks D, forcing mistakes when the other team is trying to step up the tempo.

Very true.  I was impressed with the size and toughness of the Curry d-backs.  In fact, the entire defense did a good job against Coast Guards Spread offense.

I would still say Curry is balanced in the sense that they have a good passing game, but they will most likely try to control the clock and score on every possession they have.
