Instead of the bullsh!t rabble-rousing going on in this place, I propose the following for today:

Let's see a line of posts that actually break down the matchup instead of posts that look at how lop-sided or amazing the Ithaca/MUC game could be.  Specifically, what are Ithaca's strengths in what some could characterize as a helter-skelter season?  What are the weaknesses that Ithaca has exhibited all season that have to be avoided this weekend for them to have any chance against MUC?

In the same light, MUC posters, why not highlight the best of your team this year and the possible weaknesses you've seen at times during the year (every team has at least one, so none of this "they're perfect" BS).

Essentially, turn this into, "How ______ can win Saturday" instead of "OMG, it's gonna be a big WIN/LOSS for Ithaca this weekend."

Just a proposal -- don't be a hater...

Frank...scroll back a few pages and it was covered yesterday by a few of us IC guys and some of the MUC folks who actually had something to say.  hscoach and another.

unless your son is a senior on the Bombers, stay home. It wont be worth the trip. You should trust someone who knows both programs. It will be ugly, and it will be ugly quick. E8 doesnt really prepare you for the machine. HONESTLY, leaving emotion out of it, Raiders 44 bombers 0 at halftime.

Get overyourself...

Whats their # 1 major?  I know IC is top 5 in the country for 4 schools... Park, Music, Theatre, HSHP.  I think Biology and Business aren't far behind either.  IC finished #9 in the Northeast for best institutions to attend.

Dubbz-

Don't know about the others, but ain't no way IC is top five in the country for music. Top 5 in the state, maybe. If you're talking strictly music ed, secondary and down, that's a different story. Also I would argue the theatre one, but I don't know enough about the program, despite my sister being in it.

I have to agree with Max on this, IC would fall behind Julliard, Manhattan school of Music, Brooklyn Acadamy of Music and Eastman just in NY state.  As for Music Education IC is on a par with many state colleges, NJCU, Montclair and William Paterson in NJ just to start.  It is a very good program but not top 5 in the nation.

Well, BAM isn't really a college or anything so that seems a little out of place. And I think IC would rate as the top undergrad music ed program in NY, since the strength of its music program in general edges out the state schools, and even though it's not in NY everyone knows MSU sucks at everything and that no one that isn't stupid would want to live in Jersey City.

Are you saying that Yogi Berra sucks?  And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Montclair in Somerset County, not Hudson County thus it could not be in Jersey City.

EDIT: Looking at the map, I'd guess that Montclair is actually in Passaic County, just down the road from Kaz00's old house.  I knew there was a baseball team that played next to MSU and got the Jackals mixed up with the Patriots.  There's no excuse for that.

Wrong on my edit, as corrected by KS below.  Little Falls is actually in Essex County.  Alfred definitely needs to schedule an NJAC team next year so I can get "home" for a while and remember this stuff.

Point Spreads from the OAC pick em....

8. Ithaca (8-2) (+31.5) at 1. Mount Union (10-0)

6. New Jersey (8-2) (+2.5) at 4. RPI (8-1)

7. Hartwick (8-2) at 3. Curry (11-0) (+11.5)

5. Hobart (8-2) (+7.5) at 2. St. John Fisher (9-1)

Thoughts?

Picks?

I made a mistake about BAM, but as for the rest, you are entitled to your stupid opinion.  Point being no way is IC a top five music school in the nation, not for performance, theory and composition or education.

I could probably add in Columbias College of Music as a better school also.

Montclair is in Essex County, and only about 15-20 minutes from Jersey City.

1) Yogi Berra is awesome. 1950: 12 Ks in almost 600 AB. I believe I said "MSU" sucks, I have never been to Montclair itself.
2) I was making fun both of MSU and NJCU, in the same sentence.
3) Go Bombers.

Columbia's undergrad program is almost non-existent though, and their grad program is pretty academic... not a lot of performers. Apples to oranges. Be that as it may, Columbia is on the short list of places Max would want to go to grad school in this country.
