You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

What is the word on the street about this game from the SJF faithful?  Hobart is pretty good...I would obviously think that SJF is the favorite...but what are people in Rochester saying?

Haha, touche Pat. But there were def. better leadoff guys on the A's.....

The guy can't get on base like Jeter, doesn't have power like Jeter, can't steal bases like Jeter.... WHY DOES HE LEADOFFF PLEASE GIRARDI UNDO ALL OF TORRE'S BS AAAAAAAAAAAA

You'll find that with almost anyone when you're comparing to Jeter - he's one of the best to play the game. I think you're setting the bar a bit high there.

Well, 1) All I'm saying is Jeter should leadoff, I'm not saying Damon must be as good as him, and 2) the sentence "Jeter is one of the best to play the game".... I just don't know how to respond to that. Can you put him, somehow in the top 50? 100, maybe?

Now, Jeter is one of my favorite players and he's a great hitter and always has been... but he's also always been below-average to average at shortstop, and certainly not one of the greatest hitters ever to play....

Max, Jeter is actually a much better shortstop than most give him credit for.  He does not have range like A Rod and definitely can't go to his left as well.  But he positions himself better and he is much better on fly balls.  No he is not better than A Rod or Tejeda but he is among the top ten and possibly top five in the majors in my opinion.

KS, I'm calling bs on you...Tejeda is NOT better than Jeter... Jeter is going to be one of the all time greats, because he does everything well plus he does it when it means the most

I think these two teams are getting overlooked a little...this game is a pick 'em in my opinion...though RPI is usally tough at home at '86 Field...which by the way is actually a great place to play.  Big hits echo off the buildings there...and the crowd noise stays loud all game...saw the 2001 game there between Ithaca and RPI...and it was a pretty good college atmosphere...

Tejeda is a better fielder and has more range.  No longer the hitter he was, but still a nice glove.  Baltimore does that to players now.  Remember when they talk about all time greats they are always more focused on offensive production.  And Jeter did not get it done when needed this post-season.

Jeter and A Rod were considered the two best in the 90's but actually the best shortstop at the time was Omar Vizquel.

I thought the knock on Tejada was his sudden lack of range. The O's have been talking about moving him to first base.

I thought his hitting production was down, I did not get a chance to watch the O's last season.  Missed a lot of games.

Anyone know what happened to Bruce at AU

Sure...he's still a student at AU. Talented singer/musician/dancer. He's at most of the games, cheering for the Saxons.  :)

Chaz' uncle, Terrence Bruce, also played football at AU, a gifted musician specializing in Saxophone. Believes he teaches music at a high school in Rochester while also playing with a band, perhaps. Pep saw him at an alumni reunion event playing TWO SAXES simultaneously. Incredible.
