pg- i wasnt trying to disrespect ic--- just that a 3+ td cushion to a team that played muc the best anybody has in 2 seasons seems a little much.

Personally, I bet SJF thinks they're closer to Mount than they really are.   I'm also looking for a HUGE game from the Raider passing game simply because SJF will be set against Kmic killing them again.  Hence too much focus on Kmic.

Personally, I think HScoach likely thought SJF was  going to lose by 40 last year in Alliance...I just cannot fathom this constant belief that somehow MUC was caught off guard or taken back by SJF last year to the point that MUC is going to just steamroll 'em this year.  It was the final 4 in Alliance for cryin out loud against an SJF team that just shutout Rowan (the only team from the East that most MUC fans probably thought was capable of fielding a team against MUC) 31-0, not Week 1 on the road against {FILL IN MUC DOORMAT REGULAR SEASON OPPONENT HERE}.

If SJF soemhow did suprise MUC in their OWN backyard in the FINAL 4 last year, then perhaps they arent as prepared as most MUC posters claim them always to be.  I firmly suspect the opposite to be true...MUC was prepared and just got more than all bargained for.

With all that said....

MUC 30

SJF  20

Here is hoping that the MUC posters are as modest on the boards this week as they are in person (as they were in person at the tailgates last year)

My prediction is subject to change as I get more agitated later in the week and start irrationally predicting a SJF victory by 10 or more...

Um, sorry to burst your cardinal red balloon, but that distinction goes to Capital.  Then Whitewater.  Then SJF.  Sorry, but when a TB rushes for 371 yards by himself against you, that isn't the toughest competition.

Here's the question for SJF, are they the ones that will be overconfident coming off of last year?  Many time we've seen a team play MUC pretty close the first time to only then get blitzed the 2nd time.  Wheaton and St. John's both fell into this trap.  Does SJF do this too?

HScoach you keep brining up the 371 yards, but how many points did you win by...and if the field goal had not been blocked and the long snaper had not sent the ball into the back of the end zone what is the score then my friend, Yes Kmic was incredible on that day, but my feeling is fisher had to decide what they were going to stop and Nate was not it...will he run for that much again NO, but stop harping on 371 yards, if that was really an impresive stat they would of won by 21 not 12...

You act like losing by 12 is a victory or something.

They almost doubled your score.

Face it, it wasn't that close and they ran all over you. I don't look for much different this time around, only Mount's defense is better now.

boobyhasgameyo

Love the Mount Union posters who claim the Fisher game wasn't close and then site one players performance as the reason why.  Kmic ran wild but seriously we were down 5 in the 4th (because we did have that long snap go over for a safety pushing it from being down a field goal to 5) and we did go for that field goal that was blocked (no excuses on that, Mount made a good play).  And then they went down and scored the last touchdown of the day to make it 12.  How is that a crushing performance?  Take away the dumbass long snap and an uncommon field goal block and the game is tied with a few minutes to go in the 4th.  So Kmic can run for 600 yards if he wants if it is a tie game with anybody's shot to win it, then screw it let him run.  It's absolutely rediculous when you guys act like the game was over by the 1st quarter.

annnnd now on to this year

Mount Union is better than last year, Fisher is a little bit worse in my opinion.  This does not leave me feeling well, I just take solice in the fact that Ithaca was able to exploit them in some aspects and according to Ithaca people they had missed opportunities that could have made the game closer.  I see the trend of Mount Union crushing teams when they get a second crack at them, obviously I hope Fisher is an anomaly in that regard.  Jonny I realize how amazing Mount Union's run defense is (12 yards per game about) but they were highly touted last year as well and Robinson did manage to get over 100 yards and was the only person to do so all year.  Now I clearly do not think this will happen this year since Mark was a one of a kind, but I remember for years you Ithaca guys saying Fisher's running backs are more a product of the system rather than ability, and for once I hope you were right about that.  I believe Fisher will be able to run more effectively than others, to the tune of about 60 yards baby! Light them up on the ground! lol.  So in closing with Fisher playing solid defense lately and there not being a mystique factor for Fisher players to overcome this time around I believe this game will be another competitive fun game to watch

What I aspire in my heart of hearts for the final score to be:

Fisher 27
Mount Union 24

What I feel is actually going to happen:

Mount Union: 38
Fisher: 21

What I pray doesn't happen:

Mount Union: 59
Fisher: 7

Best strategy is to hope for a blizzard that halts all offense. Then maybe both offenses will only get 60 yards.

Ithaca was down 35-12 after 3. Hardly a near miss.

Ask yourself this, how likely is a team to only score 26 points with a guy rushing for 350 yards? How many times have you heard of that? Last time was lucky to be as close as it was. It won't be this time.

booby,,
very sound, reasonable post .  GO MOUNT

I love the MUC posters that get offended when you imply that a team may stay within three touchdowns of their team. If it really bothers you then maybe you should just stick to your conference board. Your success is what breeds our optimisim. We can dream big just like our teams. NO ONE on here is saying that MUC is not a very good team, and that they are not a huge test for Fisher. Quite the opposite in fact. We know that you guys are the team to beat, and the team no one can beat. But, forgive us for being the least bit optimistic of a team playing with you guys.
Sorry, but if you were a team that was going through its first run in the NCAA you would probably talk about how much of a chance you had against the traditional power. We are not disrespecting the success that MUC has had in the past and this year, by enjoying our version of success. We are proud of our team, and optimistic of what we can do...If you really want to get upset about that, then go away...
GO FISHER!!!

by the way, Mounts defense?  Ithaca threw for like 350 yards against them.  I hope Fisher goes for 400.  And Scores 97 points.  haha

A counter-point to your Ithaca stat can be seen in NCAA stats, as of 11/17:

Total Offense, SJF >#50.
Passing Offense, SJF >#50
Scoring Offense, SJF #16(T)
Team Passing Efficiency, SJF #13

Total Defense, MUC #1
Scoring Defense, MUC #1
Pass Efficiency Defense, MUC #1

Stats work until noon on Saturday.

When you guys let go of the "SJF was the toughest team" stuff, then I'll let go of the 371 yards.   ;D

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.
